I know I'm a big wet blanket. Transfer addiction is very real. Anything that you need to do daily is an addiction. Yes I'm very sensitive to this because I grew up living with an alcoholic.

Depending on the flavor of yogurt I will use chocolate protein powder. So for cherry or raspberry I go with the chocolate.

My memory of plain Greek yogurt is pretty foul. Just my opinion but just because we had weight loss surgery doesn't mean that we shouldn't enjoyed the food that we eat. I would try a fruit yogurt and then the plain yogurt and decide if the 20 calories you save is really worth the flavor of plain yogurt.

There are times that I eat chili but depending on the recipes sometimes it's kind of a slider for me. Nachos while I love them really are not part of my life anymore. For Breakfast I have a fruited Chobani yogurt ( Greek yogurt has double the protein), mix in half a scoop of whey isolate Protein powder, unflavored Fiber powder and splendra to taste. I then add 2-3 broken up walnuts and about a quarter of a cup off Kashi go lean high protein Cereal. I usually have this after cup of coffee at about 9 o'clock at work. I buy a roasted chicken from costco on Sunday and use the breast meat for lunch all week. I weigh out 3 ounces of skinless chicken breast. In a mini plastic container I put low fat cheddar cheese about an eighth of a cup and then about half a cup of salsa. At lunchtime I cut up the chicken into small pieces pour the salsa and cheese on top and microwave. I also have the mini sweet peppers that you can find in a bag at the grocery store about 4 of them, and then some grapes or cherries for dessert. I hate to cook and I'm exhausted after coming home from the gym. So I have chicken breast with spaghetti sauce for dinner. I buy the frozen vegetables that steam in the microwave and measure out about half a cup. And some berries or grapes for dessert. My doctor really does not believe in Snacks. If I have a "snack" it's a premade Protein shake on my drive to the gym from work. I try to wait until 1 to have lunch because by the time I exercise take a shower and drive home I don't eat dinner untill after 8 and even with the Shake I'm hungry.

Well I would agree with him that having cheese wraps are not a good food choice. You can buy low fat cheese but your level of protein for the amount of fat in cheese is not great. And most banned people don't eat bread or wraps. Protein is what keeps you feeling full verses carbs. So perhaps he could have been more diplomatic in the way you he presented the information , the what he was telling you was correct.

Survived First Fill Today.... Liquids for the next 3 days??
honk replied to NJMommy2Four's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Remember 6 ounces of liquid is different than 6 ounces of weight. As soup like cream of chicken or cream of mushroom is going to slip right through the pouch into the stomach. It is after all a liquid. When I was on liquids I did the measure out to 8 ounces. I agree I think you should be using protein shakes at this point. When I was having fills I would do a protein shake wait a while and then have smooth tomato soup. -

No, personally I think it looks silly. -
I have a knee issue and can't bike ride at all. I highly recommend lap swimming lost my first 100 lbs swimming and diet before getting banded.

I would speak with your insurance. Some cover surgery at 35 bmi others 40. How long gave you been overweight. If its something recent I would ask myself have I really tried to loose weigh. Are you eating healthy. Do you exercise daily? I know those sound like a lot but you'll need to do both even with the band.

Call number on back of your card. Depending on your policy maybe clearcut.

Question for those who completed 6 month supervised diet...
honk replied to CaGottaBand's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most doctors submit your original weight. I would only be worried if by loosing weight you become a normal weight. In which case you probably don't need surgery in the first place. My surgery was delayed for 7 months due to other health concerns. I lost 50 pounds, but still was morbidly obese. This is the time to developed a new relationship with food. A PERMANENT relationship. The band is not a destination, it is the starting line. The band will NEVER stop you from eating candy, ice cream, or doritoes. You have to choose healthy foods. -
Once you are healed you should be able to eat most foods. As mentioned above most people don't really care what YOU are eating. Chinese is easy many US places have "diet" plates steamed chicken and veggies. Indian look for tomato based chicken vs yogurt sauces. Though they do have Tandoori baked chicken. I would not do Soup. If you are the host your client may feel like they should only buy soup.

I would just be very honest with yourself about how much milk. Are you having coffee with some milk; or milk with some coffee.

I think i need my fill!!!
honk replied to errikadb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bandster hell. Very normal. For now this is a will power diet. Buy a food scale and start weighing your protein, then low cal/fat veggies until satisfied. -
Personally I think it's a horrible idea for a doctor to tell WLS patient to eat frozen yogurt. Fat free or not. Sets up horrible behavior patterns.
-
I add flavorless fiber powder to my morning yogurt and take vitafusion fiber gummies daily. No issues.
-
Well I used to get a med coffee at Dunkin a breakfast sand which, and an oatmeal cookie for breakfast. I know I know. That used to cost me 6 bucks plus a day. My yogurt with protein powder, nuts and cereal is maybe $2.00-2.5. I don't cook but for $5.50 I get a roasted Chicken at Costco that makes my lunch for a whole week.

Did you meet with a therapist about your eating habits? If no do it now! As mentioned above the band will not make good choices for you. You can still eat pizza instead of skinless chicken breast.

Protein Shake Reccomendations
honk replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They also sell premier at Sams. I have no trouble getting protein from solid foods. My doctor says if you can't you are too tight. -
To tell or not to tell......
honk replied to merika0821's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely would not tell coworkers. Because basically I don't need food police. I eat a very conservative diet and when I say very I need very. And if I decide to have 1 cookie from the tray that someone brought in I will have calculated those calories into my day. And I've made a conscious decision to eat that cookie. I will also spend at least an hour at the gym working it of. There a lot of people out there however who will see it as their responsibility to tell you that you're on the diet and shouldn't eat that cookie. Regardless of the fact that they haven't seen the inside of the gym in 20 years. -
At 23 I would say wait!

Could you have eaten really salty foods? I gained 5 pounds one weekend. Which like you was physically impossible. Also have you changed the batteries.
