Going on 8 months banded and just starting to work it!
honk replied to jingleboob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had surgery in August. It has taken me like 10 fills to hit restriction. I went in for a .1 yesterday and hoping this is my last fill as my insurance is changing in April and will not have bariactric coverage. I got the very small fill because I was able to go 4-5 hours without eating but dont' really get the full feeling while I was eating. I would get more of a satisfied sensation and stop and a few minutes later feel full. It's possible I may never feel full while eating we'll see. I have lost 38 pounds since surgery (though that based on the doctors scale so fully dressed, it's probably a pound or two more since my presurgery weight was from my house in thin pj's. Need to buy new scale batteries today I think mine are gone. Last time I stood on it the numbers ran up and down for like 30 sec. before stopping at a weight!) -
Hmm...can somebody verify something for me?
honk replied to Freddy Henin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The one thing I would say is that it is very important to follow the doctors food orders immediatly following surgery. It's dangerous to eat solids right after surgery. That would be Very bad for your stomach. Perhaps that's what she meant. post surgery I had 1 week clear liquids, 1 week full liquids, 1 week mushies (cottage cheese), 1 week mushies shredded chicken, then to solids. -
I'M BACK! Does anyone remember me? :)

I have needed like 8 fills to get restriciton so I would suggest going to the doctors. -
What's Your Diet Consist Of?
honk replied to CharliBee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't understand not having veggies. You need fiber to stay regular. -
Cake in soft foods phase?
honk replied to Jenn1214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Effiepoo that there will always be a reason to have a treat. I am not saying you should never have treats. I just think that at two weeks out you are still in the learning phase about retraining yourself on food habits. This is a will power diet until you start to get restriction. -
This hasn't happened to me before since getting the band...
honk replied to nomorejellybelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To me it sounds like dinner did not have enough protein. One egg is like 10 g protein, and not a whole lot in 1/4 cup beans. 200 cal. of protein would be better than the WW dessert. -
After a fill.....
honk replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine calls for 24 hrs full liquids and then 24 mushies. My doctor says it can take two weeks for the fill to take affect. -
How do you get enough fiber?
honk replied to Rainydayz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I add some benefiber to my greek yoghurt and take a couple fiber gummy fiber chews. -
How much time should I plan to take off?
honk replied to MonikaHF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery Thursday afternoon went home Friday noon. So I had the weekend, 5 work days, and second weekend; so 9 days. I have a sedentary job and I was working from home. I did go back to the gym on day 4 started with 30 minutes on treadmill and worked my way up. I did come home after and take a nap. I was a little suprised about the fatigue factor that I had'nt expected. I was VERY lucky in regards to pain but boy was I tired. -
Two weeks out and starving
honk replied to jennielee82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a slow loser averaging 1 pound a week. There are a lot of us who are slow losers so don't be disappointed if this is your experience. This is a will power diet until you get some restriction help. And even at restriction I don't feel full while eating. I get a full feeling after I stop. So I measure my food and stop when it's gone. -
Ugh! Got a fill a week ago!f
honk replied to dentalronna@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor allows fills after 3 weeks. Took me 6 months to get restriction so this could be waiting game. -
This will be a will power diet until you get restriction took me 6 months. Measure your food and when it's gone stop eating. No grazing. If you doctor allows healthy planned snacks, choose, plan and eat them in a mindful manner. I'm not trying to be a downer. I know it's hard to stop eating when you are still hungry;.

It's called bandster hell. Your starting to heal and you appetite is returning. Basically you need to weight/measure out your food in amounts directed by your doctor. When the food is gone stop eating. See if your doctor allows healthy "snacks". Mine is'nt a big fan of snacks. Though they did approve low fat cheese stick or low cal/fat protein shake; prework out since I have a long time between lunch and dinner. Most of us have been there; this is a willpower diet until you get restriction.

3 months (anyone else experiance this)
honk replied to amberlynn86's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Meeting either with a group or independently with a therapist is very important in preparing yourself changing your eating habits and new relationship with food. I had to attend three sessions but they were once a week for 3 weeks. Another thing to consider is that many doctors require a % of body weight loss. My doctor required 10% that could take you 3 months as well. No body likes to weight but those therapy sessions are something to embrace. -
This is a hard one. I have gone down a pant size but have not lost anything in 2 weeks. I do swim everyday but was doing that presurgery as well.

Do you use a food scale? Which one?
honk replied to Rainydayz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought a digital scale from weight watchers. You don't need to be a member you can just go to one of their meetings and buy the scale. It is pretty cool because you can get the calorie counts for the food you are measuring (calculates it automatically). By the way don't buy it online because the price is twice of what you would pay at the weight watchers facility. -
WHAT PROTIEN DO YOU LIKE?
honk replied to NeedangerMGMT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
for Whey Isolate I like Gold Standard double chocolate and Dymatize gourmet vanilla. Ready to Drink Premier brand from Coscto is pretty good both vanilla and chocolate. -
Please go back to your doctors orders ASAP. You are only 12 days out from surgery. At that point I was still on full liquids.
-
Oceanspray now has a 5 cal individual serving packets.
-
Over six months I've averaged 1 pound a week; some of us are slow losers.
-
When did you get start....?
honk replied to momnear40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liquids plus protein shakes 7 says, then full liquids (tomato, squash) soup plus protein shakes for 7 days, day 15 cottage and ricotta cheese, day 22 egg whites and puree soups, day 29 canned chicken or tuna. -
Am I drinking to much Water
honk replied to sunshawnloc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you eating with meals or immediately after? If not you should be fine. -
Hopefully you will be a lucky one with restriction after 1-2 fills. Took me more like 6 and 6 months.

Tricare denied claim after approving surgery!
honk replied to onebadkitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It very well could be the anesthesiologist. After reading several stories like yours I asked specifically about that when I met presurgery with a member of the anesthesia group. He told me that some hospitals contract out that dept to another company. So they and the hospital are two different companies and the hosipital is an approved vendor to the insurance but the anesthesiologist is not! That's crazy in my opinion. I recommend people specifically ask their hospital is the anasthesia group is a dept of the hospital or seperate entity. If that is your situation I would call this company and tell them you thought they would be covered under you insurance and ask them for a cash pay price. Most medical vendors state a price to insurance knowing they will only get paid 1/2. I would try to get them down to $1,000 since that's what an insurance company would have paid them. -
Awww!!! Need help choosing a lapband dr in mexico
honk replied to alowe81's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One big concern I would have is WHERE in Mexico. There are some areas that are literally a warzone. Research the location carefully.
