I still don't understand why your doctor has you plan a snack even if you're not hungry. Eating something just because it's supposedly time to eat something does not create good eating habits. I understand that it's yogurt but if someone said to you everyday at 3 o'clock I eat ice cream whether I'm hungry or not I'm sure you would think that was a bad idea.

In general having a protein shake isn't going to keep you full for very long. I have a coffee earlier in the morning and then a Greek yogurt with half a scoop of protein powder and some high protein cereal added . This usually holds me for at least 4 hours.

It took me 6 months to get restriction.

Personally I would get a very small unfill. Getting stuck at every meal is not good for you. The only other thing I can think of would be for you to go on all liquids for a few days and see if you just are swollen at this point.

How many calories per day on your pre op diet?

My doctor had a 500 calories liquid diet that some people do for months! Yes months. -
Pre op diet.. Need help
honk replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those are some pretty low numbers you gave for protein shakes. Even for powder that you mix yourself it's going to be hard to find something that meets those numbers. Premier protein ready to drink is 30 grams protein for 160 calories. That's pretty good but it has 5 carbs which is more than what your doctor called for. -
I think you should focus on 3 oz of Protein at each meal. With tacos you are getting lots of carbs for minimal protein. Carbs burn first and faster thus you are hungry sooner. Agree with previous poster why are you eating a snack when you aren't hungry?

I really recommend speaking with a therapist specializing in eating disorders. Yes at restriction I feel satiated on less food; and have less interest in Snacks between meals. HOWEVER the band will NEVER stop you from eating candy, ice cream or Cookies. Mental/head hunger has nothing to do with physical hunger. Personally I think insurance companies should require therapist sessions during those 6 month supervised diets. Until someone's head is in the game; and I am not saying yours isn't; the band full or not will be useless.

I'm also currently doing the 5 day pouch test. After my first day of 700 calories and going to the gym I gained half a pound!

Do you have it an mp3 player or something like that? Or could you download radio shows or books on tape is? I find walking boring if I don't have something to keep me entertained.

Losing weight before surgery
honk replied to Creekwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my first appointment I was at 332 and was asked to lose 10 percent body weight. Do to other medical issues I had to delay my surgery for 7 month and ended up losing 50 pounds. I highly recommend watching real surgeries on YouTube. Because of the tools they use there is no blood so it's not gross at all. I really think it brings home to you why the doctor needs the liver to be flexible. The first surgery I watched I wondered what on earth they flipped right out of the way using this spatula type tool. That's right it would be the liver. I didn't know the liver could move like that! -
Slight discomfort when eating one week after fill...
honk replied to sherrypep's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you can't est 3 oz solid Protein you are too tight. Being to tight is 1. Bad for the band may slip and 2. Leads to eating sliders which can lead to weight gain. -
Once you're healed you'll be able to eat anything your family can eat. The reality is your family doesn't need to eat high fat high calorie foods nobody does.

lunch and dinner meal ideas for work ??
honk replied to angieband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I get a roasted chicken from Costco and can make my lunch from it for a whole week. I weigh out 3 ounces of chicken. Use a half cup plastic container put about it eighth of a cup low fat cheese then add either salsa or spaghetti sauce. At work I put the chicken on a plate and then empty the contents of the plastic container on to chicken microwave and you're done. I like those mini sweet peppers that you can buy now. No cutting just wash and go. You can include a couple grapes or cherries if you want for dessert. -
I am 2 and a half years out and for of my scars look like little bug bites. Someone would really have to be looking for them to notice. And my port scar has healed better then my larger gallbladder incisions from over 20 years ago.

Also buffalo sauce is quite high if made with butter.

I would make sure the therapist specializes in eating disorders. -
How AWFUL are these protein shakes?!
honk replied to This Girl Is Losing It's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Per vitamin shoppe employee "plain vanilla protein powder is gross". Premier chocolate ready to drink very good (Costco and Sam's). Muscle milk light ready to drink pretty good but get light version! Will post the powder brands I buy tonight from home. -
Slight discomfort when eating one week after fill...
honk replied to sherrypep's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Edith what are your doctor's instructions for post fill eating? At this point you should be back eating solids. If you can't eat solid then you are too tight. Even the first day after a fill my doctor says full liquid not clear liquids. Please remember being too tight is not good for you you are more likely to gain weight than to lose weight when you were too tight. -
I think tuna can be kind of chokey plain without anything mixed in. I would recommend mixing either can tuna or chicken with low fat laughing cow cheese. 1 thing about laughing cow is that you can also microwave it . Sometimes post op so much of what you eat is cold it's nice to have something warm.

Have you been tested for thyroid or hormonal issues?

Most doctors say 1-2 pounds per week so you are ahead of the game! Also how much Protein did your doctor recommend? Mine said 3 oz so 2 seems on the low side. In general weigh loss slows down once the Water weight is gone. You are doing well. Remember this is a Marathon not a sprint.
