Do they have a pool? I highly recommend swimming. Started out at 364 pounds in my fat lady swim suit. Afterall once you're in the pool no one can see you. Moving to a suit that did not have a skirt was a major NSV.

As my sister says we have platypus feet. She is a normal size person and takes wides. My nephews even as small thin children had wide feet. We got it from both sides of the family so no matter how thin we may be we take wide shoes. GRRRR

How many fills before this thing starts working?! :)

Per my doctor is you can't eat 3 oz of solid protein and solid veggies you are too tight. -
BEWARE- Ice cream caused my pouch to dilate
honk replied to kentx05's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think he was told 7 days liquids but to come back in two weeks; which would leave 1 week of solids. OP you may want to ask if they want you to do the 7 days of liquids now, then the seven days of solids instead of the other way around. -
Suggestions for chewable vitamins (Calcium, Multi, and Vitamin D
honk replied to Diva01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor recommended Flintsones with Choline. I found the exact same vitamin (compared them side by side) at Costco under their Kirklnad brand for half the money. I also take gummy fiber also from Costco, chewable Caltrate 600 (calicum and other suff), gummy Vitamin D, and a iron pill. I also by a large contain of unflavored benefiber while I'm there which lasts me for probably 5 months. -
Do I have a medical degree no. Considering a huge majority of doctors, includeing mine keep people on clear liquids for 7 days, full liquids (tomato soup) 7 days I think your doctor is setting you up for physical damage. I would not have been allowed the type and consistancy of foods you mentioned for 4 weeks! I agree with a previous poster go watch a surgery to see what your body has gone through. I am not saying these things to be mean spirited. I am almost a year post op and I have read many many postings on this site that scare me. One person wrote in they were disappointed in the surgery because one week post op they could eat a big mac. Blenderizing food so early is like finding a loop whole in the tax law. Just because you found it does'nt mean you should use it.

5 days Postop and STARVING
honk replied to ashleighnc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have chobani yohurt everyday for breakfast. Since I am now on solids I add 1/2 scoop protein powder, splendra to taste, 1/4 cup high protein Kashi Go Lean cereal. I could not have yoghurt post op until week 3 and I had to use a stick blender if it contained fruit. There will be a lot who disagree but since I find Greek yoghurt to sour on it's own (0% fat) I do use Splendra. I did buy 2% once by mistake and there is a HUGE difference in taste. So if you are opposed to using splendra you may want to decide if the extra 20-30 calories is worth the taste difference. -
I was loosing hair at a higher rate then normal about 6 months out. My bariactric office did not think it was from weight loss because and I quote "not losing fast enough" for that to happen. Geez thanks! Anyway I started taking 5000 mg biotin and about 6 weeks later the hair loss slowed down. Look carefully at the bottle because it also comes in 1,000 and 2,000 mg; and some of the smaller doses actually have larger pills. Mine are about the size of tic tac. My protein levels were always fine when my blood was checked so I don't think that was the problem.

It took me 7 months to get restriction! I am a slow loser. Even during bandster hell I stayed at around 1200 calories. Very conservative diet low cal/fat/carbs. I exercise 7 days week/an hour of cardio and I am losing at 1 pound a week or less.

5 days Postop and STARVING
honk replied to ashleighnc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I spaced out my liquids. Protein shake and then a hour later the broth. At day 8 I could move to tomato soup. Please do not move ahead of your doctors diet progression. You stomach is healing. -
Call you doctor. Mine said 2 weeks. I was a pretty active swimmer before surgery (1 hr day/7 days a week. Highly recommend getting a water proof MP3 player if you do lap swimming makes time go so much faster.

My doctor considered clear liquids broth, and full liquids soups like tomato or squash (pureed no lumps.)
-
I would be concerned about Iron level

Does Not Needing to Crush Pills = Not Enough Band Restriction?
honk replied to 1970MaleJaxFL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My one perscription pill is about size tic tac as are the COQ10 and biotin. I take those one at a time; no problems. My multivitamin, calcium, fiber, Vitamin D are all chewables. I take those as my pre breakfast as I drive to work. -
Well I would'nt feel that guilty because my doctor considered full liquids tomato soup (though not pured chicken nooodle etc.)

FYI tzatziki cucumber yogurt sauce can be high in calories and fat if made with reg. yogurt.

Not to be too specific but are you taking apples to apples? A Misses 16 is several sizes smaller than a Women's 18. I've lost about 150 pounds and have only gone from a Women's 28 to Women's 22 swimsuit. Depending on how you are shaped you may want to check out brands that come in Long. I am not quite 5'4" but have a long torso so need a longer suit.

How long to wait to see if you're too tight?
honk replied to extraonme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you are too tight to me. -
Can you make shakes ahead of time?
honk replied to topazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FYI Premier brand ready to drink protein is pretty good. I have one everyday prework out since I have a long time between lunch and dinner (swim after work). Available at Costco. -
Remember all those extras add calories. Also adding fruit makes them a mushie and not a full liquid! For addins I recommend fat/sugar free pudding mix and davinchi sugar free coffee syrups. PB2 is a good substitute for peanut butter (defatted peanut powder). Look for it online.

If you want to make your potatoes greek style add garlic cloves. YUM!

Looking for high protein/low calorie foods in small portions
honk replied to Phranp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Part of my lunch everyday is veggies (baby carrots, suger snap peas, etc) and hummus (I buy individual size porttions at costco). May want to give that a try. -
I'm at restriction and I can eat bread; I just choose not to due to empty calories. If there is a "fancy bread" ie not plain white, wheat at a special occation I allow myself to have a small slice.

Too soon for protein shakes?
honk replied to lea3277's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor called for clear broth and protein shakes the first week. One important thing to remember is NO FRUIT. That would be a mushie. -
Do you ever forget you have the band?
honk replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Admittedly I have a pretty conservative diet. I don't eat cake, cookies, chips, fried food on a regular basis. My doctor says (other than carbonated drinks) you should be able to eat all foods just smaller amounts. Since I don't have foods I can't eat I don't have problems eating something that will end up causing a problem.
