My Nut said it was'nt a problem that I eat late (by the time I do an hour commute and go to the gym it's after 8 before I get dinner). She said the problem with night eating is that people tend to make poor food choices when they eat later and eat large amounts.

Are you at restriction? My doctor wants 3 meals a day no snacks. -

When you get a Fill, how long does your Dr. say to stay on Fluids?
honk replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
24 hours full liquids then 24 hours mushies. I did'nt get restriction for 6 months so I did'nt have any trouble eating solids once I could eat regular food. -
My doctor calls or liquids for 24 hours and mushies second 24 hours after a fill OR Unfil. Have you been eating solids since your unfill? I would recommend doing liquids for a day so your stomach can recover from the unfil.

I highly recommend swimming, low impact and you can work your way up in time and exertion. I tell myself I can eat dinner after I work out. I always want to eat dinner!

I think this is pretty normal. I had a fill about 3 months ago and though I had entered the green zone. In the last 3 weeks I def. think I have gotten tighter. Remember the band is around muscle. So if you're stressed the muscle will tighten. The band is not an exact science.

Day time heart burn and night time cough?
honk replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may still be too tight. My doctor says if you are coughing for no apparent reason you are probably too tight. -
First Lap Band Fill - Inquiring Minds...
honk replied to jennypenny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my first fill when I got up from the table I got this tightening sensation in the area of the band. Did not hurt just felt the sensation. I did not have restriction (that took 6 months); and did not have that sensation in the following fills. Just the first time. I told the nurse and she said I was not the first person to mention it. -
Week 1-2 Post Lap Band Surgery
honk replied to KMF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would'nt worry so much about the calories. Just make sure to get all your liquids in. -
I don't really count sugers/carbs. On the other hand I don't keep any crackers, cookies, breads in my house. I can eat bread I just choose not to. The only time I have bread is if I'm out at a restaurant and they have fancy bread (not those cheap white rolls, but nice bread). I only have cake or ice cream at family birthday parties (like once every 3 months). In my opinion carbs from fruit or veggies (raw no suger or butter) are not a problem.

Need to know why liqs for 4 weeks
honk replied to lkmay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how frustrating the liquid diet is but she needs to stay on her doctors diet. I was on clears for 7 days, full liquids 7 days, and then yoghurt/fat free cottage cheese for 7 days. So no, chicken fingers would have been out. Can she have jello. I personally refused to eat jello but it would have been better than chicken. -

Lap Band for a BMI of Less than 35?
honk replied to TexasLady1986's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While you weigh a lot less then I ever did at your highest, I can relate to what you've said. At 13, 18, 30 I lost significant amounts of weight up to and including 100 pounds. I gained it back every time. I was super committed to watching my diet and lots of exercise. Problem was that I had to be so stringent it was not sustainable. In fact at 18 I was probably slightly anorexic. I also have a family whose female members were obese but who obsessed about my weight. The band will not make you thin. YOU will still need to exercise (I do an hour daily), and watch what you eat. But once you get to restriction it will help you eat less. Personally I don't keep my band so tight that I get complications that others get. I read on this board that people know they are too tight, can't eat 3 oz of solid Protein (so they drink Protein shakes for nutritian) but won't loosen the band. They are loosing weight quickly so they don't want to slow things down. This is the wrong mentality! If you keep your band at a good level your likelyhood of having problems (trouble getting food to go down) will be greatly reduced. Also keeping the band too tight can lead to having the band slip, which is a major complication. Do I wish I'd had lap band sugery 10 years ago at 30 and could have kept the weight off. Yes. -
I take 3 gummy fibers with my chewable vitamins in the morning and a couple at night. You might want to consider those if you are having a problem.

Cheated(Kinda)
honk replied to darci.shannon@gmail.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since some doctors use a high protein low carb diet presurgey you are probably fine. I do however recommend that you go to YouTube and watch some real lap band surgeries. They have no blood and are not gross. You will however learn WHY doctors say liquid diet post surgery. Your body CAN NOT handle solid foods while your stomach is recovering. You MUST follow your doctors post op diet. Very important. Yes I know I am being forceful; but most of the people who write in about post op issues are because they did not follow the doctors post op diet! -
What are good protein shakes?
honk replied to jeeptrk03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For Ready to Drink I and several others on this site like Premier Brand Ready to Drink Protein. Can be found at Costco. Great if you have to be out and about. 160 Cal, 30 g protein. -
Your lucky you had a pound loss! I am usually up 2-3 pounds and takes a week to loose it again.
-
After a couple months I started to loose hair. Started to take Biotin 5,000 mg and after a month or so it stopped. Not sure if my body was done losing hair or if the Biotin helped.

my daughter took a dive on my stomach

How far out of surgery are you? I would contact your doctor and get their opinion. We are after all just people on the internet. -
I think I need a fill already!
honk replied to Jonna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 3 weeks I was not measuring by cup but by weight. So 3 oz of whatever mushie. -
You are losing at over 2 pounds a week that is more than my doctor expects. I am a slow looser so personally I would be really happy at 2 pounds a week.

I HATE being on another DIET!
honk replied to slm2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't want to depress you. I did not get restriction until 6 months so I been where you are. -
Are you drinking protein shakes in the morning in addition to breakfast? If so that might be your problem. If you can't go 4-5 hours before feeling hungry you need a fill. You should be getting your calories from solid foods. Full disclosure I do have a Ready to Drink Protein shake (160 calories) as a prework out snack because I go about 8 hours between lunch and dinner since I work out between them.

Frustrated with Band Results
honk replied to Pattypwk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Band will not stop you from eating ice cream an potato chips. I would recommend cutting out those foods except for "special occations" like family birthdays etc. Don't keep them in your house you will eat more than you should.
