When I was on clear and full liquids I spread out my broth and protein shakes. Have the broth first and then wait as long as you can may be an hour to have the shake. This way you can "eat" every few hours. I would really ask you to think before going against doctors orders. You stomach is healing and can not handle solid foods.

I would talk with your doctor again. My period was super messed up after surgery. Did not help that I was on blood thinners after surgery for several months. I asked both at my surgeon and at Gyno if my unstable period was due to weight loss and they said I was'nt losing fast enough to cause problems. Gees thanks. Well I am a year out and this month my period came a whole week early. Great- fabulous. My doctor also ordered that internal ultrasound; urggg.

I did strain soup the last couple days of clear liquids because I was so tired of stock. My mother was staying with me so she ate all the solids.
-
I would choose a gym that is between you and work. If you have to drive out of your way to get there you won't go. Make sure they will be open when you want to go early in the morning or late.

College bander on a meal plan (HELP PLEASE)
honk replied to hhalphen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a gallbladder problem during my freshman year of college and had to cut out all fat or have attacks which are horribly painful. I was able to get special protein made after I supplied the food service with a note from my doctor. This was before the American with disabilities act so they should comply with this request. I also was not able to get out of my meal plan. I would have omlets preferrably made with egg whites and veggies no cheese. I would see if they have greek yoghurt. -
full feeling after fills
honk replied to anjilmist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor calls for full liquids for 24 hours and then mushies for 24 hours. Since today is only Sat I would not be on solids yet. Try mushies tomorrow and see how that goes. -
Yogurt Parfait or Protein Drink Recipes?
honk replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have chobani fat free greek yoghurt with fruit, 1/2 scoop whey isolate protein powder, 2 teaspoons flavorless benefiber, splendra to taste, and 1/3 cup high protein Kashi go lean. Splendra is really the key for me as greek yoghurt is pretty sour. I do find if you have the 2% instread of fat free it is not as sour. -
What portions do you eat?
honk replied to dyingbreed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor says 3 oz of protein but does not regulate the amount of veggies; and yes 3 oz is forever. -
OK, I need some serious help/advice please
honk replied to Jessie26's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor wants me to be able to eat most things just to eat less of them. I can eat bread and pasta I just choose not to. I would agree that it sounds like you have lost weight around your stomach and now the band is loose. Regarding carbinated drinks I would stop. -

GAINING weight on protein shakes only pre-op??
honk replied to Mischief's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think you doctor was out of line regarding the tests. My doctor required the same things. Are you over 50? The colonoscopy was the only thing I did'nt do as I was 40. Regarding protein shakes I would check the ones your using. The powders should be less then 120 calories, less 4 g of Carbs, and less 3 g of fat, and have around 25 g of protein. -
My doctor will not do lap and gallstone surgery at the same time. Gallbladder surgery is considered dirty and lap band is considered clean. I have read of people having the gallbladder surgery and a couple weeks later lap band. As someone who had my gallbladder removed at 19 and lived through months of attacks; I would get it done first. Even being super diligent I still had attacks. Think a fat free existance. Attacks are horrific. You do not want to experience one.

Try stock instread of broth has a lot more flavor and is still a clear liquid. You can buy it in the soup isle.

I am someone who is a carboholic. I can't keep crunchy things in my house because I would eat them non stop. My question for you is do your children really need those carbs. Are they part of their meals or snacks? Do your kids really need snacks or are they just a habit?
-
I would say learn to take your coffee with no cream at all. I try to buy low fat cheese as gthe fat free is gross. I don't really use salad dressing so cant really comment about that.

DO YOU 3MEALS A DAY OR 3MEALS WITH 2-3 SNACKS
honk replied to LessyAudra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor also says 3 meals no snacks. His opinion is you may have a snack even it you are not truely hungry because the snack is a habit. I do have a low cal protein shake pre work out because my work out is 6 hours after lunch; and I don't have dinner till after my work out. So lunch and dinner are usually 8 hours apart. -
When did you resume swimming after lap band surgery
honk replied to manderoo's topic in Fitness & Exercise
My doctor said I could go back to lap swimming 2 weeks post op which I did. Water aerobics may be more difficult esp. if you are doing a lot of abs work. -
Question? How much food per serving do you eat?
honk replied to Tamie2169's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to eat 3 oz solid protein plus veggies. I don't see how you could fit in the protein and enough veggies for a balanced diet in 1/2 a cup. -
NEED TO WORK ON APPROPRIATE POST BAND EATING!!!
honk replied to ms.lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Until you have restriction your stomach is no different than it was presurgery. Did your doctor require therapy sessions that cover mindful eating. If not I would seek out a therapist that specializes in eating disorders. These sessions really helped me concentrate on eat bite and truely enjoying it. Take one, just one, dried cranberry and chew it slowly. See how much flavor you notice. When you eat a handful at a time you chew quickly and swollow with out hardly tasting. -
I bumped up.. is that so wrong?
honk replied to StewsHunnyBunny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have to say I followed my doctors orders. Was I hungry YES. At two weeks I asked the nurse if I could move to mushies 4 days early. Her answer. "Absolutely NOT!". Keep in mind I lost 50 pounds presurgery so it was'nt like she thought I was'nt commited. -
I am a year out and at restriction. There is nothing in the world like the power of suggestion. Have you noticed at BK they have a sign "Try our soft serve". I am really not into ice cream. Even presurgery I did'nt eat it. My mother once found a full container in my freezer and said "Is this from my birthday party 8 months ago?" Anyway every time I see that sign I want a soft serve ice cream cone. I even had a dream about eatin one last night. Crazzzyyyyy!

You sound to tight to me. My doctor says if you can't eat 3 oz of solid protein you are too tight.
-
OK I've got another question- How do you all feel about drinking fluids with a meal?
honk replied to pinklily27's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I drink up until I start eating; and then wait an hour afterward. I find the better I eat (read healthy), the less salty the foods and thus I am not thirsty. -
First fill...have some questions
honk replied to AmandaGW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm shocked your doctor let's you have solids immediatly. I would do 24 hours full liquids and then 24 hours mushies. See if that helps. If you are swollen eating solids will only continue to aggrevate your stomach. -
I am NOT telling you to ignore your doctor's advice. I will tell you my doctor only requires 24 hours full liquid and 24 hours mushies after a fill.
