Agnonizing stomach/back pain. Went to ER
mnieves replied to Shrinkerbell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for your reply. Can the symptoms come and go? I had it for a week last month, then it disappeared, and then a few days ago I had it start up again, to just stop again after two days. Thanks so much! Michelle -
Agnonizing stomach/back pain. Went to ER
mnieves replied to Shrinkerbell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi. Yes I think I can relate. I am a little over two months out from surgery and have had two fills. On December 13th, 2009 I was overcome with horrible pains in my stomach, (almost under my ribs and my whole stomach) almost like a REALLY bad stomach flu pain. This continued for about a week and suddenly stopped. I just figured I had a stomach bug or something because I did have a pretty bad head cold. Two days ago it came back and has not stopped. It is the exact feeling as before. It is weird... It hurts more when I am up walking around or even just get up from a sitting position. And I also notice it right after I eat something. All though it still hurts when I am sittting. Today was the first time my lower back started to ache and then I got a sharp pain higher up on my bcak. Does this sound like what you are feeling? Any ideas of what this could be? I am worried that I may be having problems with the band. I am so worried and tired of the pain. It is so bad that I don't even want to excersise, let alone get up and move around. I called the Dr. and he has scheduled me an Upper GI and bowel follow through, as well as, to check for the band placement.Thank you! -

I just had my first fill on Saturday 12/12/2009, and for the first 2 days had some restriction. I now am 3 days out and can eat anything and have NO restriction. I have a 4 cc band capacity and I was given 2 cc's. I guess I expect more out of this because everything I have put into it. Please help me with some encouragement. I have heard it takes a few adjustments to get an adaquete fill level, but would really love to get this band working and losing weight. Please give me some advice. Thank you in advance. Thank you! I have been consuming large amounts of food. As if I didn't have the fill. I really want this to happen. Can't wait to see the difference in the 2nd fill. And I hope I won't be saying this after that fill. Guess I will have to wait another month. Michelle

I have always been a big girl all my life and after having 3 daughters found myself at 271 lbs at age 26. At one point in my life, in 2003, something happened and I worked as hard as I could and lost 100 lbs. 3 years later my husband was diagnosed with kidney failure and was put on dialysis immediately. Five months later we found out I was a match for him and I then donated my kidney to him. Life was going good, when I suddenly fell ill and was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and Tethered Cord Syndrome in 2008. I put back on 30 pounds of what I had previously lost. I could no longer find that inner strength to lose the weight, much less maintain what I had already lost. The weight was coming on faster than I could handle. That is when I knew I had to do something, and that something was to get the Lap- Band surgery. Because I was "only" at 197 lbs. I knew my insurance would not cover me because my BMI was not that high, but there was NO WAY I would let myself stare 300 pounds straight in the eye ever again, so I decided to go down to Mexico and get the procedure done there. It was such a great experience, and they were extremely personable, knowledgeable, and professional. Anyway, that is where the Lap-Band started. They trained our doctors. Anyways. I am excited to see where this journey will take me, and can not wait to start melting away to a healthy weight. I am excited to meet some friends on here and I would love any advice you can give me. I am down 11.2 pounds and am exactly 2 weeks post-op. I really think I need a fill sometime in the very near future, because as I have read on here already, I too am starting to want to eat anything and everything now that the swelling has almost gone away. I want to be skinny for the first time in my life. AHHH! Michelle
