  1. I am so frustrated. I was banded in early November and have lost approximately 50 pounds. I have been at this point for about 6 weeks now. I am exercising vigourously 5-6 times a week and am eating good. I had to have an unfil of .5 cc's about 34 weeks ago due to being too tight. I don't know what else to do. Any advice.
  2. Well, it hasn't been easy, but I am finally at 50 pounds. Anyone who thinks this might be the easy way out better think again. It is worth it, but very hard. I am working out 5 days a week and have now signed up for a boot camp with season 4 biggest loser contestant David Griffin. Last night was my first night and was just assessments, but I think it is going to get me over my hump. wish me luck. Good luck to all.

    weight update

He is great. He is so motivational and helpful. He is also so easy to talk to and easy to work with. Really looking forward to the next 6 weeks. I know too that all of this stuff is expensive. My husband told me the other day that I was going to bankrupt us( lovingly though) and I said well at least I would be healthy and bankrupt. He really is supportive it is just so darn expensive to do everything related to getting healthy, but I put my self here so gotta get myself out. I feel your pain financially, but stick with it.
  4. O.K I haven't posted in a while because everything was going pretty good. Today I have feelings I haven't had since I started this process. I am 46 pounds down after having surgery mid November and feel like I have done fairly well with all the changes, but today I just had the feeling like what have I done. I feel like I can't eat anything I want. Mentally, I still want to eat, but I just can't like I used to. I thought I would feel like this before now. I just want to cry. I feel really tight after my last fill, putting me at 5.5 cc's. I have a constant feeling like I have a pulled muscle in my left side. I don't know I just feel like screaming. I am only about half way and don't want to get discouraged now. I just needed to vent. Has anyone else felt this way?:Banane20:

    exercise

Well ladies or gents, I am in the same boat. I have even hired a personal trainer. I have been at the same weight for about 4 weeks, until today. I finally lost a pound. I can't figure it out and neither can my trainer. Just keep at it. I know I feel great. It should eventually come off. We sure are working our butt off for this. I wish I was being literal. LOL
  6. Well, since my last fill of 1 more cc(5 cc's total) I seem to have more trouble eating. This in turn has me eating things I am not supposed to. Meats do not seem to go down, but all the things bad for you go down much better. I am trying to mentally tell me eat the right things, but they just have trouble going down. Even soft eggs and sometimes even protein shakes have trouble. Ice cream, puddings reeses peanut butter cups- no trouble. Am I too tight or what.
  7. Well, I thought I was doing really well not getting sick. I got my 3rd fill this past Thursday and now I am up to 5 cc's. I followed the post couple day after fill requirements, but tonight I had a little chicken. Well, not good. It came back up. It was the worst feeling in the world. First it just felt like I couldn't breath and like, well it was stuck. I have had that feeling before, but walking around usually helps. Not this time. Was it the chicken? Now my upper abdomen hurts. Is this normal?
  8. O.K I have done really well until the last couple of day this holiday season. Don't get me wrong, I am still eating a tremendous amount less than what I used to. I haven't felt sick the couple of times I overate, but I had some pain and discomfort. Is this normal? Also, I am 6.5 weeks post op and everytime I lay on my left side I feel like I am lying on a lump of something. I never had this feeling before. Does anyone else feel this when they are lying on their left side? Hope everyone had a great Christmas and hope everyone has a safe New Year.
  9. I had my second fill last Thursday(7 days ago). My 2 liquid days were fine and the next couple of days were fine, but now most things seem to have trouble going down. So much that I am drinking mostly protein drinks and stuff I know is fairly soft. On my first fill I had no problems. Is this normal? If it is soft I havel very little problem. I still get full fast, but at least it goes down. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.
  10. I can eat things like scrambled eggs, soft steamed veggies and I have been eating things like mashed potatoes( little amounts) because I can't seem to eat meat. I have tried shrimp, very tender roast, ham, etc. The meat is a big problem.
  11. I am 5 weeks post op and i just got my second fill. This seems a little fast to me, but my doc said get you butt isn here if you can eat more than a cup and can not go 4 hours between meals. Well, I have wanted to eat everything in site and everything goes down just fine. So now I am up to 4 cc's. Just wondering how many cc's everyone else has and when they started to really feel restriciton. I h ave a 10 cc band. Have a great Christmas everyone.

    Super bummed....

Hang in there. Remember this is as much of an emotional journey as it is a food one. This is a really hard time of year to attempt this task, but if we had waited we would be even heavier. You can do this. Just remember 15 pounds is more than you would have lost without the band. Good luck. Way to go. You're down 15 pounds.
  13. Hi all. My surgeon and dietician obviously want me to make healthy choices and I have been, but they also said they want me to eat real food and what I want because I will not be eating large amounts and if I cut out everything I will eventually binge. I have cut out carbonated beverages and almost all breads, but if I want a small cookie or sweet I have it. Hope this helps. You gotta remember we were all probably eating a tremendous amount of calories before we started on this journey. Good luck.
  14. Well, I got my first fill a week a a half ago and I have no restriction. I didn't really expect to, but it started out pretty good right after the fill. I can definitely eat more than my half a cup. I am going back in this coming Thursday, per doctor for another fill. I am still losing, but it has slowed way down. 3 pounds in about a week and a couple days. Has anyone else had to go back in this quick?
  15. I had my band 4 weeks ago tommorrow. I have been in for my check-up and got my first fill of 2 cc's. Everything has been going great until I woke up this morning. It probably is nothing, but at my incision where my port is I have a little corner of the incision that is oosing. It is where the doc said I popped a knot. It was not red when I had my follow up which was about a week ago. Should I worry?
  16. OK, I have a question about some pain after getting my first fill. I seem to have more soreness of my left side again, especially after I eat. I am only on liquids for 2 days, but I still feel it. Also, I don't seem to have any trouble with stuff(liquid) going down and I don't feel sick, but I feel like I have something stuck in my throat/esophagus. It doesn't really bother me, but I can tell the difference. Is this all due to the fill or is it something else?
  17. I had my first follow up with surgeon since surgery 3 weeks and 1day. I have olst 30 pounds total-17 since surgery. He gave me my first fill of 2 cc's. Will I notice this small of a fill and how long will it last? He told me to schedule 4-5 weeks out from today, but if I needed more to call sooner.
  18. I was just wondering at what pace everyone else is losing. I am 3 weeks out today and have lost 30 pounds. 17 of this is since surgery. I feel great about this, but my doc said his goal is 1-2 pounds a week. I have exceeded that and I fear he won't give me a fill when I follow up with him. I am getting more hungry, but I am just trying really hard not to overeat. Amy advice?
  19. O.k. today was day 14 post op and I really haven't had many problems. I have a surgeon who moves you along extremely fast. Liquids for 2 days, mushies for 1 and then solids as tolerated. From what I have read most surgeons don't do that. Everything has gone well, but today both breakfast and lunch did not go down well. Both time were things I had eaten before, but they felt like they got stuck and I really had to try and not throw up. Any insight?
  20. I am new to this forum, but wanted to join one that was just for banded patients. What is the typical weight loss and how fast is everyone else losing. I lost 13 preop and have lost 9 since surgery. I had my surgery on November 11, 2009.
  21. Hi, I am new to this forum, but seem to be getting a lot of good info so far. I was banded on the 11th and my surgeon had me on liquid for only 2 days, mushies for 1 and then solid as tolerated by day 4 and 5. Have done great with only a few incidences of feeling like the food would not go down.
