To Master Banders...what is a typical day of eating for you?
BFRIZZELL replied to voodoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Aug 2007. My doctor tells me that my food should be the size of a deck of playing cards. That means of course that your protein will take up most of that and then fill everything else in. Does that make sense? I use this when I don't have time to measure my food! -
I was banded 08-30-07. I have ALWAYS had this pain in my shoulder. I can not figure out if it is when I get full (which is when I feel it the most) or then some days I wake up with this pain. I do not ever throw up unless I eat something that just gets stuck. Instead I feel this shoulder pain all the time. I am not sure that this is normal. It prevents me from wanting to get a fill because I think that I am not ready for one ( I have not had one since Sept), but I still have the major tightness in my left shoulder. Does anyone else have this problem?

liquid diet while banded
BFRIZZELL replied to esv2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that my weightloss has been slow too....but remember the slower you lose it the less skin and other complications you will have. I know that it is discouraging because there are people on here who are losing it really fast, but hang in there. It is a tool that you will have for life. I have lost 50lbs in 2 years. I am thankful that I have lost that much, because other wise without the band I probably would have gained that much. Hang in there, you will see results soon. -

liquid diet while banded
BFRIZZELL replied to esv2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor personally supports a liquid diet.....not full liquids but partially as you still need the nutrients. He recommends Slim Fast Low Carb which has 20g of protein. I have one in the morning at about 8, one about 10, one about 12:30 and another at about 3. Then I eat a small sensible meal. It has to be the Slim Fast Low Carb because the regular obviously has too many carbs and to much sugar. This works for me and sometime in between ( like for snack,if I get hungry) either a stick of string cheese for some extra protein or a cup of jello sugar free pudding or just regular jello. This seems to work for me to help me get jump started again. Anyway, try this and see if it work for you!! Let me know how it works if you decide to try it. -
Upper right Abdomanl pain

I would go have your gallbladder checked.....I was having the same symptoms, mine were uncomfortable but not severe. I had some type of special scan done and my gallbladder 17%. And it was fine when I had surgery. I had mine taken out just about exactly 1 year after my band was put in. -

I want in too!! I would love to lose another 30 lbs before Christmas. I dont think that would be healthy though. So my goal is to lose 30 more lbs before my hysterectomy Feb 16th. I can for sure do that!! -
Getting depressed with weight loss
BFRIZZELL replied to BFRIZZELL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the support. I am going to start a liquid diet again. I like to drink the slim fast low carb and it has 32 grams of Protein ( I think). So maybe that will jump start things. I really can't double up on my cardio because I have a torn tendon in my ankle that I am trying to nurse back to health before I have a hysterectomy in Feb. I do feel restriction all the time when I eat. I always eat my protein first. And then go to the other items on my plate. I think that my problem is that I don't eat enough. So I think that it is slowing my metabolism down. So I am going to go back to square one and start over. I am going to the store this weekend and am going to buy all the good stuff with protein. Thanks for all the support. -
Getting depressed with weight loss
BFRIZZELL posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 08-30-07. I initially lost alot of weight. I started at 282 and now currently am down to 232. So I have lost 50lbs. I believe that I have a 4cc band. I am pretty sure that I am at 3.2cc currently. My doctor has a hard time accessing my port everytime, he says that there is too much scar tissue on top of the port. Just about everytime I go in he can't find it, so I have to go to the surgery center and get it filled under fluro. I have gotten frusterated the last couple of times because I am self pay. A office visit with my doctor whether he fills or not plus the hospital fee is $220 each time. I have gotten to where I dread going in for a fill because I know that it is going to be so expensive. If I could get to a point that I would start losing again then maybe I would be ok spending that much for a fill, but I just can't make myself do it. Does anyone have any suggestions to get me jump started losing again??
