OK I've got another question- How do you all feel about drinking fluids with a meal?
pinklily27 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do you drink at all when you eat? If so, how much? If not, how long do you wait before and after eating? I'm just interested to know and understand some other perspectives and what works for different people? Thanks -

Restriction or Post Fill swelling?
pinklily27 replied to Mama2two's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a tendency to swell when I get a fill and am always really tight for a couple of days. Sometimes I have to take an anti-inflamatory but you have to be careful with that and not take too much too often as it can be hard on your tiny tummy. I say check with your doctor just to be safe! -
To Tell or Not To Telll....That is The Question
pinklily27 replied to TheRealSouthernBelle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is an interesting question and I agree with many of the other posters. It is a VERY personal decision. I chose to tell close family and friends as well as a few co-workers. One of my co-workers reacted very negatively replying "Don't end up like so many of those women who lose alot of weight, leave their husbands and break up their families" Not sure how she made that leap because there are plenty of overweight women who leave thier husbands too. Besides I was't losing weight to get a date, I was losing weight to get healthy. I didn't let her comment bother me and I pressed on. Interestinly enough, she left her husband a few months later and is now divorced while I am very happily married. Sometimes, you can't judge how people will react so each person has to gauge that for his or herself. -
Are you maybe drinking too much when you eat? That will make things "slide" down quicker and easier and you'll eat more. Also, if you are taking too long to eat, you can eat more. About 20 minutes is all it should take. If you go longer than 30 minutes, you begin to digest what you have eaten and make room for more. I should know, these were two of my tricks I used for eating around my band when something tasted good. Its the reason I gained back much of my weight. I had to do alot of work to "fix" my head and now I am back on track and stronger than ever! Good luck to you!

Hello, I would love to be your lap band buddy. I just posted yesterday looking for somone. Here is what I wrote: "My name is Jessica and I have had my band for what will be two years in December of this year and I am a measly 11 pounds less than my presurgery weight After my surgery in 2009 I was doing great. I was losing weight and eventually reached a loss of 80 pounds by the fall of 2010. It was wonderful and I was only 20 pounds from my goal weight , then my band slipped and I had to have it removed and a new one placed. I have steadily regained much of that weight in the year since I was rebanded. I contantly sabatoge myself and eat around my band! I need help refocusing and getting back on track. If there is a successful and positive person out there who can and is willing to help me, I am willing to listen and give it all I have to be successful!" If you would like to be my buddy, let me know!

Help, I need some advice. I am new to this forum and have been exploring the different groups. I came upon an area that discusses band removal. Some of the negative longterm outcomes have scared me. I don't want to go through all this only to have the band removed on 5 years or to regain or not lose my weight in 3 years etc. I'm scheduled to have surgery on December 8th and I have started my presurgery liquid diet. Maybe the carb deprivation is getting to me. lol I'm starting to have gitters. I need to hear some positive success stories from people who have been banded for awhile now.

Who did you tell? Everyone?
pinklily27 replied to jvw2009's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, i a new to this forum and you are my first post! I waited awhile to tell people as i was unsure of thier reactions. My surgery is scheduled for december 8th. I started telling people about a month ago. I have found a mixed bag of reactions. Some people are very supportive and excited for me while others are seem to want to talke me out of it. Sometimes people who don't even really know me feel the need to make comment about it. That annoys me. At first i felt the need to explain myself to those nay sayers but then i realized they don't live in my body so they couln't possibly understand my health and my point of view. Besides their opinions do not matter much. I only care about my loved ones and close friends, they are all very supportive. I'm glad i told people. It strengthened my resolve and i was able to show people that i was not ashamed of my decision but that i was proud of making one that will probably save my life! Hope all goes well with you.
