How do you feel the " restriction "??
pinklily27 replied to talal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Mis73. Getting back to your post op diet is the right thing to do. When you do move up to solids you may notice some fullness. But you shouldn't vomit. If that happens on solids then a call to the doctor may be in order. -
Yeah, to quote others on the board, Welcome to the other side!

Yeah!!! Happy Day!!!!

Just wanted to give a shout out for Peanut Butter as it is one of my favorite things! For me a few tablespoon of PB in the morning is great and filling. Plus I feel like I am getting a treat! I buy the Jif Natural that is pre portioned into little cups. Perfect for the am when I am a little tight and don't want to do another Protein shake!

So I got ripped a new one by my boss's boss!!! I won't get into details so as to protect privacy. Part of what I was chewed out for was my fault and part was not. Never-the-less, I feel just awful and am embarassed to show my face back at work. I suffer from what I refer to as "good girl syndrome". I always want to be good at my job and put alot of pressure on myself to show I am dependable. I feel like I have let others down. I tend to harp on certain things and this is one of them. I will fret over this for weeks. I wish I could just let it go and move on. I feel like everyone at work will be talking about me behind my back! Anyway, just wanted to vent! I feel better. Thanks for reading!

OH, to quote Rachel Ray, Yum-O. Sounds good, I will have to try it! Not familiar with the brand ICE. I will look for it next time I am at the store! -
Aww thanks! I feel the love! I have not stress ate or reverted to sliders at all!

I too have faced numerous obstacles in my journey. I have had a band slip and replaced and a complete unfill. So I definately understand your frustrations. Because of my obstacles, I have regained most of the weight I lost. However, with that being said, I have been working close with my doctor to get into the green zone and am back losing. It sounds like you may not be in the green zone and need more Fluid. Don't be embarassed to go to your doctor. They are there to help you and may be able to exactly pin point what the problem is! You can do this!!! Stay strong, you have already come so far!

What about peanut butter. Have you tried that? I eat it alot especially when I am tighter in the morning.
-
Sounds interesting. I googled the recipe. I will have to try. I think my kids would like it!
-
I did the five day pouch test and it worked well for me!
-
Alright Maddysgram, you go!

Sounds like you are on track! Great that you are already in the green zone. Some people never get anything stuck. The main reasons this happens are because you are too tight, you took too big a bite, ate something too fast, didn't chew it up well enough or ate something that did not agree with your pouch/ band (which those foods are different for every person) As long as you keep eating the way you are, you should be fine! Best of Luck!

You might try adding a protein shake in a couple of time a day to get some additional calories and nutrition.

before and after...and still going

WOW! You look great. Congrats! I bet you feel better too! -
I can relate, My office has a thermostat in it but it controls not only my office but all of them down the hall and if I do not keep it set low the others are blazing hot. So therefore my office is like a meat locker! I am allowed to have a heater at my office though and I use it a lot. I feel ya! Best of luck!

As long as you are far enough out from your surgery that you have healed, you should be ok! Sounds fun!

I love Unjury. I order it online. You can order individual packets of their flavors so you can try it and see if you like it! Another thing I do sometimes is mix powdered milk with regular milk to make what my dr's office calls power milk. Then stir in a carnation instant breakfast!

Should I Be Getting My First Fill?
pinklily27 replied to hockeymother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes I will think I am hungry but I find if I drink something that goes away. Half the time I am just thirsty. You could try that. But if you truly are getting hungry you might need a fill! Best wishes. -
Wow, that's alot! Good for you. Do you have alot of restriction?

Question - insurance denied - self pay?
pinklily27 replied to mama angela's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure how your insurance will work. I had a hiatal hernia that developed about 10 months into my band that caused my band to slip. The surgeon took me in to fix the hernia and repair the band, which ended up needing replaced. My insurance paid for everything but the actual band in that procedure. I think it had to do with the way he coded the procedure. -
Continue on your path, slow and steady. If you still find you cannot get the amount of liquids down that are required in a couple of days, you should call you doctor. You don't want to get dehydrated. That happened to me because I was too full to get in the required amount and I ended up back at the hospital for a few days shortly after my surgery.

Please help hungery!
pinklily27 replied to tamaraking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can get more protien into the carnation instant Breakfast by adding powdered milk in addition to the liquid milk. That works pretty well. My nutritionist call it power milk when you add powdered milk! -
Interesting, I read some of your other posts. Can you see the port under the skin in that position or is it well hidden?

Banded 5 days ago no restriction??
pinklily27 replied to sparkles502's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree with Maddysgram. Right now is for healing and its about diet and not weightloss. Many patients do not feel restriction for several fills. Some patients do get restriction when the band is placed but definatly not all patients! Good luck to you. I know the first 6-8 weeks are hard because you do not feel full but have to follow your diet rules. Hang in there.
