Random question...anyone have the Wii Fit?
cawells replied to lydialynch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a Wii fit plus for xmas too. I LOVE IT!!! It seems like too much fun to be exercise but when i wake up the next day, I can definately feel my workout. Be sure to workout the next levels. Once you get good at one "game" you can move up a level. They are usually harder and longer. I "rode my bike" up hills for 30 mins the other night and I'm still feeling it. I recommend everyone get one. Its a great calorie, bmi and weight tracker too.:smile2: -
You should bring a neck pillow, like the traveling ones? My neck was so greatful I did so it didnt get stiff when resting sitting up.

Disney World on 2nd week of Post-OP Liquid Diet?
cawells replied to Excited4Change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Disney is VERY accomidating to any special diet. You just need to tell the waitress or call ahead and let them know what your diet is. As far as telling your friend? that might be hard to keep from him if you are having just liquids and he's eating a steak? It also may be hard for you if he is not privy to your condition. You are going to have to be careful of your stitches and certain rides may jostel you too much or lap bars may come down in the wrong place. You might have to tell him you had surgery. You could always just say a "female surgery". Most men wont ask questions. Hope you have fun. -
Ok, ladies, I've been on Depo provera and have not had a period in 3 years. I am 6 days post op and started my period last night. This is very strange for me and was wondering if anyone else experienced this. Is this a coinsidence or did surgery/drugs "knock out" my Depo Shot? I was spoiled for 3 years not having one and this is definately not a time I would want it.

Something to add to your hospital list
cawells posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sister gave me a nice soft neck pillow before my surgery. I almost didnt bring it thinking I really wouldnt need it. Boy am I glad I did. It was so nice to use especially when you need to sleep sitting up, your neck doesnt hurt. Even the nurses commented on the pillow and how it looked comfy. I would definately bring one if you have it or go out and buy one if you dont. It also helps at home when having to sleep on your back or even sitting up in a chair. -
2 days post op. Gas pains are worse for me than the incision pain. I had a hard time the first day as the anethesia did not agree with me. I couldnt get up and walk as much as I needed to due to nausea. Luckily the nausea has passed. Yes, I'm sore, yes, I have gas but this too shall pass. (no pun intended)

Advice Needed - Sick before surgery?
cawells posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wanting to know if anyone got sick before their surgery and if so, did you tell your doctor? I have a "tickle" in my throat and think I might be getting a cold. I dont have any other symptoms and have been sitting over my menthol humidifier. I'm hoping it's just dry air or allergies but if it turns into a cold, should I tell my dr? My surgery is Saturday and there is no postponing. If I dont get my surgery Saturday, I never will due to circumstance. Whatcha think? -

I think its my normal allergy/sinus problems. Its better today. No tickle but I still have the post nasal drip. Still drugging myself up and keeping my fingers crossed, just in case. -
Advice Needed - Sick before surgery?

So I did call my dr's office and tell them how I was feeling. The nurse said as long as there is no fever and I'm breathing ok, its no problem. I think I just have post nasal drip from allergies. Dr said it was ok to take claritin. Taking claritin, Vitamin c, and sitting over a vaporizer. Not taking any chances. 2 more days!!! -

Yeah, I've been sitting with the vaporizer running and I told the pharmacist I was having surgery and got some medicine to take that wont affect my surgery. Also loading up on vitamin C. Its just the darn tickle. No coughing or congestion. Oh, man. I hope this goes away. -
Swangal - oh yeah, thats exactly what we're doing. You dont really see the day to day loss but when you look at pics, you really see it. Saturday we start our 1 week pre op diet so tomorrow night we are going for our last Italian feast. Then we are going to do the pictures and measuring. Cant wait to get started.

I had a pretty good day at work educating people on my surgery. I took in my nutrition book I got from class last night and showed everyone my diet plan. Everyone was surprised the intensity of the plan and most of them didnt realize it was a lifelong commitment. I think they thought after you lost weight, you could eat whatever you wanted. I even had 2 people say, "Wow, you really have to work hard" and "I dont think I could eat like that for the rest of my life". I felt real good with the responses. I think if you are going to tell people, show them your plan, nutrition list, everything. Answer questions and dont act unsure of yourself. It will only make it look like you are ashamed of taking control of your life. I was happy. I was proud. It was a good day.

Kellu25 - I'm jealous! I want mine now! Take care of yourself and take it easy.
-
Sluggo - fortunately, I havent had anyone be negative to me as of yet and I've told quite a few people. I'm not ashamed that I am taking control of my life and everyone I have told are genuinely happy for me... but God help that one person that ever says anything against my decision... a chocolate protein shake in the face is what they will encounter!

So I went to my nutrition class last night, got the pre-op diet and the post op diets... and let me just say, if ANYONE ever tells me I'm taking the easy way out to weight loss? I will smack them in the head with my pureed fruit soaked baby spoon!! This is going to be the hardest thing I've ever done but I am ready for it. 9 more days, could it get here any quicker?

Dr. Koppman & Dr. Marema in St. Augustine
cawells replied to outside*looking*in's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yeah, I just found this site not too long ago. I recommend attending the free seminar Flagler has every month. Dr Marema hosts it and explains sooooo much. I like Dr. Marema cause he's also a bariatric patient so he knows all too well about the struggles. This week is my appointments week. I have my psych, nutrition and surgical appts then Monday I spend all day at the hospital getting poked, pricked and prodded but I am ready! -

I am 13 days away from my surgery and have not been told to go on a liquid diet. I have my nutrition class on Wednesday. Maybe they will give me a diet then? -
