  1. Happy 38th Birthday Cowgirl74!

  2. 5 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 5th Anniversary Cowgirl74!

  3. OK ... this might be a silly question but what does restriction feel like? I have been banded since the 11th October and I had my first fill on the 26th October, so I never really gotten of the Fluid / mushies since my op. I am only having 1/2 cups of mushies at each meal ... so that I learn what full feels like. Which if different to what I thought full was in the past. Any reply's appreciated.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I was banded on the 11th October ... I have been on fluids ... went onto Mushies on Monday ... yep today back on fluids for the next 24hrs. I went to the Doc and he gave me a fill. Has anyone else who had surgery this month had a fill yet. I was freaking out .. but it was so easy, not painful at all Also I am 14kgs (about 30 pounds) down since the 29th September.

    Is this normal....

Hi, I was banded on the 11th October ... I feel pretty good except I get these shooting pains in my left side. They are pretty bad. It feels like my stomach is cramping up and is especially bad when I try to burp. The only time I get relief is when I lie on my back and put my arms above my head and streach out. I am just a little worried that I did some damage as I had nausea and vomitting when I came out of the surgery and I did not have a scan before I left hospital. I am able to get my fluids in with out any issues. Any advice is appreciated.

    Time off Work

Hi All, How much time off work did you have when you got banded. I was going to take off 2wks (2nd week working from home that is) ... is that too much??

To Band ... or not to Band.

Hi All ... Thanks for your help ... just thought I would post a note to say that I went to the doctors today ... start Optifast today (pre-op diet) and get banded on the 11th October. My head is spinning ... I thought it would at least be a month or two away. But I am glad it is this soon ... so I have less time to dwell on it.

What did you tell your co-workers?

I see your point ... I am just worried at the moment ... that it may not be a success. I think that I will be open about it in 6-12mths time when I have succeeded. I just know that I have embarked on the weight loss journey and told people ... just to fall flat on my face. The other day ... it was a morning tea at work .. I pick up a muffin and one of the other ladies here ... who I don't talk to took the muffin from me and told me that it was to fattening for someone like me... man I could have decked her. These are the type of people that I do not want to know ... as the are judgemental b##ches.

What did you tell your co-workers?

I am hopefully going to have surgery in the next month or two. But this is one of my major concerns aswell. I have told one of the bosses who has had the surgery ... what I am having done. There are 4 or 5 others that I have told that I am having some tests done. Which fits in well as my mum has had an unexplained illness the past couple of years. Also when they see the weightloss I can say that it is a direct result from my test results that the doc's said that I have to loose weight. I am very guarded when it comes to stuff that is really personal and I find that with this type of surgery ... people sometime just don't understand. I am not sure if I am being paranoid or it is true. I know however that if I tell my true freinds and family they will be nothing but supportive.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Not sure if I will get banded in October or November ... but I thought the more the merrier. I have my first appointment with the doctor this week. I am excited but scared at the same time. I asked the receptionist when I booked the appointment how long until surgery after the first appointment and she indicated only 3 to 4 weeks. Maybe I will get it just in time for my birthday at the end of October. Suppose I better had that peice of cake now. huh.
  14. Hi all, I am looking at lap banding and I have an appointment with my doctor in 2 weeks. I am still trying to decide whether I want to go ahead with the procedure. I have approx 100kg (220 pounds) to loose. And am just not sure what to do. Some days I wish the appointment would get here and really want the Lap Band ... other days I am quite scared of the Op and not sure I want to go through with it. Does anyone know of any really good websites where they have all the statistics on success rates etc on Banding. I so want my life back .... but just not sure how to do it!!!!

    Drinking & Steak

Hi, These may be silly questions ... but ... I will ask anyway. I am thinking of getting Lap Banded ... but I am a big drinker (water that is) .... Are you still able to have big drinks of water (ie 1 to 1 1/2 litres at a time) ... or do you have to do it little by little. Also ... do most people have problems with steak ... or can you still eat it after banding. I have heard that it is not good to digest and just sits there.:hungry:
