I start my preop on January 4  and I am more scared of that than of anything else. I will definitly keep you posted anad you please do the same! I am adding you to my friends list. Take Care.

    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

The 14 is my day as well. I recieved my preop diet on the 21 which made me a little more nervous than i was to begin wtih. I am more afraid of that than the procedure itself. I just know how i feel when i get really really hungry. that weak, puny jittery feeling. I hoping I will not have that for 10 days straight all the while going to work and functioning. uuugh. But you are right...we CAN do this!
  3. Hummingbird, I think you are probably right about that. Since i cook anyway, it would be great to only have to cook the one thing. I hope that having the band will really motivate him to eat less and move more. Right now, if I put a small portion on his plate he acts like I am the bad guy being mean to him. Its funny really...and I dont dare say the word exercise. We have recently aquired my most favorite peice of workout equipment....a Boxer named Roxie. She drags me around that block like there is no tomorrow. Maybe i should tie her to him and turn her loose! Bless his heart...
  4. Tina, That is a really great suggestion. I think that he would be receptive to that too. Thank you!!!
  5. ymjackson, thanks so much for that reply...if I can just him to understand that the support has to go both ways, I think we will be fine. I am just thinking about all the what ifs and how the surgery might affect our realtionship. I look forward to a more active life with him...o to be able to hike our trails without the back and joint pain . His appointment is on the 19 but has the referrels for the psychologist and nutritionist and pulminologist...appointments all within that same week. He is trying to get his surgery done around the same time as mine due to insurance. Fortunately our insurance doesnt run from Jan to Jan...If he can get done soon, our family max out of pocket will have already been met so all he will have to pay for is his copays. Kinda a 2for1...lol! I think he has til March though...
  6. Hey Kiko,

I too have a great support system but have chosen not to tell the "outside" world. Its bad...but I cant tell my my grandmother because then the entire world would know (Bless her heart..haha). I think i am gonna stick with the whole "I am seeing a nutritionist" for the people at work...all of whom are very judgemental and openly opinionated (and walking toothpicks i might add). Maybe eventually I will tell "the world", but only after I have gotten comfortable with the idea myself. My husband is considering getting banded and is hoping to have his done sometime before july. We will see, I think he wants to see how mine goes and then go from there. (he is right at 340, 6'2) I hope you will keep in touch...we can do this!

    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

Hey KIKO, Its funny...it really is the little things that i want to do when I finally have the smaller version of myself. A big one is gonna be shopping in the REGULAR department! I dont start my preop diet until 10 days prior to surgery, but when i do, it will be all liguids for 7 days and then 3 days of clear. And of all things that i am scared of...THATS IT! That is a lot of days of liquids...and i have to be able to work and function during those days...and can you say CRABBY?! Its strange...I am not nervous at all. Just anxious and ready to start this new part of my life. That may change the closer it gets to my surgery date, but so far so good. Are you planning on telling everyone about the surgery? How is your support system? Any concerns or fears about the procedure or afterwards? Take care and stay strong!

My family is very supportive...that said...unless you are living it you cant understand it. Lets do this together! 1.What is your current and goal weight? 280/155 2.What is your surgery date? January 11 3.What is your age? 31 4.Where do you live? Mobile area 5.Where are you having surgery? Providence 6.Who is your Doctor?? , Dr. Dyas 7.Insurance or self-pay? Insurance w/ 10% out of pocket 8.What was you "deciding factor" for having this surgery? I want to have babies! Have a healthy and positive pregnancy and just enjoy my husband and our lives together. 9.What do I want to do after I lose the weight? I want to run just because I can. I want to ride a mechanical bull and not be afraid I cant get on it. I want to climb a rock wall and not be afraid the harness wont fit. I want to ride a roller coaster and not be afraid that the safety bar wont shut. I want to go to the theater and be comfortable in the seats. I just want to live my life...

    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

I am going in to set the date on the 18 of this month...and I am very fortunate that I do have my husbands support. He is going to all doc appointments with me so he can get the info first hand. Knowing that this is really gonna happen for me...and as excited as i am....I'm kinda nervous. But of all things....I am the most nervous about the 10 days of liquids before the surgery. Holy Moly....talk about a test. I know it is for a reason, but I am gonna need some serious support and I think that my poor husband may need to go into hiding those 10 days. I cant imagine the mood I could potentially be in...LOL! I am just thankful that I have this site and that if I am feeling anxious or have concerns, that I can just hop on here and let all of out....

    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

I got my official insurance approval 3 days ago and I have my appointment with my surgeon on Dec 18. After talking to the nurse, she said that they are setting dates about 3 weeks out, which would put me mid to end January. I am using my BCBS. I was happily suprised it only took 1-1/2 for the approval. Preapproval...I had to go to the pulmonologist, a nutritionist and a psychologist and I had to get my weight records sent to my surgeon to show that I have been overweight for atleast 3 years...but that was no problem at all, since i have been overweight my whole life.I am gonna be 31 on the 8th of December and do not to be still at the weight that i am when i turn 32. My concern is what and who to tell. I have the 100% support of my immediate family and my closest friend. But I really dont know what to tell the people at work (I am gonna be missing a week) and the rest of my family and friends. They think that that losing weight is simple...mind you they are all toothpicks. My nutritionist suggests that I just tell them that i am seeing a nutritionist and be done with it...but that wont help me with the excuse for missing work though. I am so glad I found this site....The idea of having support from those that are going through the same thing as me at the same time as me is just wonderful. Lets do this together!
