  1. And O how i have dreamed of sitting comfortably in a coach seat on an airplane! I have a smaller upper body than lower body, so I have tried avoiding flying all together because of those dang little seats...and when i did fly I went first class only because the seats were roomier. Good luck with the next 6 days and hope to here from you soon. Kristy

  2. Glad to hear you are doing well! I am doing way better than expected on this 10 day liquid diet. (but I figured I'd be passed out by noon on the first day of starvation LOL! so anything is better than that right?!) I can only have 2 shakes a day, broth, sugar free drinks, a fudgesicle and a yogurt, and coffee with splenda. Thats it. Uuuugh...maybe I'll be able to drop a few pounds before surgery...get a jump on the process. How much have you lost on the preop? I could NOT imagine doing this through the holidays....wow! I think I gained 10 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years! But this was actually the first Christmas that I ate and was not on a strick diet....i felt like a prisoner and the last meal, so i ATE! haha! That is wonderful that they are gonna fix your hernia while they are in there...I would hate to know going into one surgery that you were gonna have to have another one. Thats wonderful.

  3. garlic, chilli powder, salt, pepper etc. I do not want to do ANYTHING that will keep this from happening. My doc just said broth....so i seasoned it with rotell tomatoes and just strained them out. I was thinking it might be yummy with some chilli powder to spice it up. Any thoughts???

    1000 calorie diet??? help me

lots of broth, sugar free jellos, protein shakes, fudgsicles? ....I am on full liquids for 7 days and clear for 3. But it is almost 8 at night and I'm right at 500 calories. I have yet to have my fudgesicle or my jello. So, it can be done. I am not exactly looking forward to tomorrow, but I will survive.
  5. i started 10 day preop today...and suprsingly enough, I am not starving! i drank my juice and i had 2 of the EAS shakes and crystal light during the day and then tonight i am having chicken broth seasoned with rotell tomatoes ( i just strained out the tomatoes...it is quite yummy!) and for dessert I am thinking a SF fudgesicle and possibly some jello too. For me, the workdays are going to be easier because I am more structured. This weekend is going to be rough, we are always on the go. I have a friends birthday party at Buffalo Wild Wings this Saturday. How in the world am I gonna do that??? i just dont know if I can make it. And then Monday I start my clear liquids...uuuugh. How are you guys holding up?
  6. :smile2: I am very nervous about this diet...i feel like tomorrow is going to be the last meal i ever get to eat. My nerves in general have kicked in a bit, as I am sure it will only intensify as the time passes. I am in no way having doubts about the surgery itself though. I am sure that the band is 100 percent right for me. I have also been using the SparkPeople website...I am able to log my food, exercise and general progress on there. I am getting prepared...I got all of my clothes sorted from biggest to smallest (so I dont miss out on wearing anything), I am going this week and getting me a new set of food scales, a new food processor and some kids forks and spoons (my nutritionist recommended eating with them as it forces you to take smaller bites). If anyone has any suggestions on making this liquid diet more bareable I would looooove to hear from you. I just keep telling myself...I will eat again. I wonder...do you actually mourn food?
  7. Thanks for your comments...I just got back from the grocery store. I know the cashier mustve been thinking..."This girl is THIRSTY!" I had nothing but liquids and my powder to make my shakes. LOL! My husband was saying he was gonna do it with me, but when it came time to buying the stuff, he chickened out. Cant say I blame him much...poor guy...he is having to cook for himself until i can start on a more normal diet. He knows that would be pure torcher for me to have to cook his meals while i have my shake and some jello. It does help to know that my feelings are normal and that there are people going through this with me. THANKS YA'LL!
  8. Hey Maggie! We have the same surgery date. I start my liquid diet tomorrow and am having some real anxiety over it. I think once i get started I will be better. How are you doing? support system? Good luck with everything and I hope you will keep in touch. I added you to my friends list!

  9. Hey Peaches, just wanted to touch base and see how you are doing. i start my preop liquids on Monday....ugh. Hope all is well and KIT!

  10. Hey Kikoman,

I hope you are doing well. Hows your preop diet going? They have unfortunately bumped my date to the 14 instead of the 11th...ugh. But, whats 3 more days right? I just wanted to check in and see how you are progressing. KIT

  11. My husband and i are both over weight and have been our entire lives. I am scheduled to be banded on January 14. He has his first doctors appointment on January 19. I love the idea of going through this process with best friend...being able to eat the same way and support each other through this. My concern, and it is hard to approach this with him ( he sees it as me wanting to go get skinny and not wanting him to take my thunder...which is insane btw, I want my husband to get healthy and live a long and full life with me) That said, I am a nurturer and by nature I just take care of him/spoil him . I am concerned that if he gets banded around the same time as me, he will expect me to do it for him...tell him what to eat, tell him when to exercise etc. i do the cooking now and he eats what i cook. But we have done weight watchers together in the past and he has no idea how to do it...he totally relied on me. I just dont know if I am strong enough to do this for the both of us. He has made a few comments about me getting skinny and finding a skinny man. AS IF!!!) I hope that he is wanting to get the surgery for the right reasons and not due to any insecurities he might have. Any thoughts??? I would like to thank everyone on this site for all of the great questions and answers provided, things that i would not have thought of and a lot of my fears have been put at ease. So...THANKS GUYS!
  12. i just want to thank you all for your wonderful suggestions. Since this post, I have spoken with my husband about my concerns. He was totally open to what I had to say and was really trying to understand where i was coming from. I think that whether or not he gets banded, I really believe that he will be that support that i need.

  16. Ok ya'll...you are probably right. I was having a rough afternoon and honestly someone could have told me the sky was blue and I could have very easily taken offense to it. So i apologize for being the snotty one...when i initially read it I took it that his manhood was being attacked....and we can't have that. So yes rej1977....we could all use more men in this world like you! Happy New Year Everyone.
  17. ok...so is being snotty really neccessary? I thought this site was to help people...not put them down for inquiring...no matter who they are or WHY they are inquiring. I know my husband has asked why I am not telling people and he doesnt understand and acts aggrevated with me when I tell him my reasoning. And I dont know how my husband is going to respond to my new lifestyle...new eating, exercising etc. I couldnt even get my husband to read the material I brought home. So, if a man is on here inquiring about how to make things easier on his wife, I think that more spouses should take note.

    anyone NOT losing hair??

i just found this thread with lots of info in it.." For those who are losing hair"

    anyone NOT losing hair??

This is one of the main things that i want to do everything I can to prevent. My hair isnt that thick to begin with...everybody keep telling me protein is the key. I am scheduled for January 14. Congrats on your weightloss so far and good luck with the future.
  20. cat, i hope just because your husband is letting the testing stand in his way, maybe when he see you getting healthy he can do it with...maybe you will be all the motivation he needs! I am currently trying to get the sleep apnea test done...but for personal reasons...hahah! He keeps me awake snoring every night and OOOooh how i long to sleep the entire night with my husband by my side. I really think he has a mild case of sleep apnea. I just hope he will get it taken care of before it gets worse. I on the other hand have not had to go for a sleep apnea test and my surgery date is on the 14 of Jan. I hope they dont slide that in on me at last minute. Thanks for the nice words and keep me posted on your process!

    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

we have the same surgery date! i amso ready to start start this process. Good luck and I hope you will stay in touch!
  22. thats great! I have to be there at 5:30...holy moly thats early! I guess thats good though...we should be the first surgeries of the day...the doc's should be all rested and at their very best. And on schedule I might add!
  23. I know he is very dependant on me for a lot of things....we both work and have been married for right at 7 years. I guess it goes all the way back to my mom being a housewife and all my dad had to do was go to work and cut the grass. Recognition is the first step right...haha! I hope that through all of this, our relationship grows while we do the shrinking! I am planning on talking to him, i really just wanted to get another perspective. I definitely can see where doing 2 different diets/workout plans can be much harder. He might not understand now your method...but I am sure he will appreicate the results when you are all skinny! I would love it if my hubby would do something like that that your husband did! I think that after it is all said and done we are both going to be healthier and happier. If we can just go in with a plan of attack! Good luck in your process.
  24. ok..thats funny! Well, my fingers are crossed that all goes well!
