Well folks, I am officially banded for life!! I had surgery yesterday and all went very well. I am sore a bit in the abdomen area which is normal, some slight gas pains but not near what I expected and can get back on regular liquid diet starting at noon today for two weeks. They have 3 cc's in my band currently doc told me. I am only drinking water till noon in small amounts. That was very difficult last night as I felt it going down the whole way and chest felt very tight. I gues this is normal as I know your insides are all swollen from the surgery, so don't think anything is wrong. This morning I am able to swallow water a little easier so that is a good sign. Will try one of my shakes later today and see how that goes. Anyway, overall so far so good and the healing process has begun. Talk to everyone soon. Have a Great Day!!:wink2:

Thank you and best of luck to you with your band. Surgery was not too bad and recovery so far going well. Hope all goes well for you also.

Thank you and congrats on getting your band done today. So far so good for me, just a little swollen inside still and everything (liquids) is tight going down but not too much pain from surgery.
-
Thank you, I will definately keep everyone up to date.

Congrats on your new band as well. Glad to hear you are doing well so far also. Best of luck and keep us posted!!

Hey Babara, don't get frustrated, it is a long and hard journey to get to where we want to be. I takes determination and committment like nothing we have done before. You can overcome your weaknesses and frustrations if you stay focused. You sound like you are ready to take off, just don't let the dark side conquer you. You have to dig deep, get up the courage and continue to fight. You will beat this thing, but you have to stay the course. Best of luck to you...Bigbaldeagle

Congrats on your band... I am getting mine done this Tuesday on the 1st, nervous but very excited. Glad you are doing well and that you did well with your liquid diet. I have been on my 2 week pre op liquid diet for 15 days now and have lost 20lbs. I know you are looking forward to the mushy foods. Keep us posted and keep up the great work :cursing:

Well my lap band surgery is less than 48 hours away now, yeah!!! I have been on my liquid diet now for 15 days now as of today for pre op and am now down 20lbs. It has been a little tough at times, but not near as bad as what I thought. I believe it was because I prepared myself mentally pretty well prior to starting and that really helped me as I believe it will through every step of this journey I have begun. I am excited about Tuesday, yet still very nervous as I assume everyone is. No one likes having any type of surgery, however when you know what the possibilities are and the likely outcome if you do what you are supposed to do, it all becomes very exciting. So I focus on the long term changes this will bring to my health, my life and my future with my family. It all seems to me to be a wonderful choice and the right decision. Well one and half more days and then I am in it for life. Will post something again once I am out of hospital and home feeling up to getting back on computer which hopefully will be quickly. Only one night stay in hospital due to my sleep apnea and doc wanting to watch me overnight due to that. Talk to everyone later.. Have a good one!!

Congrats on the 51lbs lost this past year, that is fantastic and you should be proud of yourself. You are right, keep up with the excercise, that is one of the biggest keys to the whole thing. Without it you won't lose at the rate you want. You will make your goal for your birthday, just stay focused and do the right thing!! Best of luck with it all!!

Congrats MrsVick on your new band. Hope you get to feeling better soon. I am going in this coming Tuesday to get mine done. Been on liquids now 11 days and ready to get on with the surgery. Haha. What kind of pain are you experiencing? Is it the gas pains that most experience? Have a Great Thanksgiving with your family!!

Thanks Darcie. How are you doing since your band? Any complications? I am excited and nervous. Definately ready though. Been on liquid diet now for 11 days now preparing and have dropped 18 lbs already. I am psyched!!

Last night my wife and kids came home from the High School playoff game where they were working concessions. They walk in with two boxes full of hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, pickles, chili and start eating them and I had to help pack and freeze some of the burgers and dogs. I did not say anything when wife asked me to help, but I got aggrivated and very snappy. I felt I could not walk away and not help, but standing there wrapping up this great smelling food after being on my liquid pre op diet now for 5 and 1/2 days I was dying inside. It took every ounce of strength I had not to take a bite, but I didn't. I helped and walked away and went to bed. These are the times I struggle with. I am strong and ready for this lifestyle change. Surgery on the 1st of Dec. Just had to vent about this situation as it is boiling inside me. I will not give in!!!!

Hey, thanks for the words of encouragement. I can use all I can get. I know how it is to work around food all day, it doesn't make this easy, but sometimes you just have to put your health and well being ahead of all other, including food and do what you have to do. Hell sometimes this week I wondered if it would just not be better to be heavy, eat what I want, when I want and be happy and deal with all the different things I can't do or have difficulty doing being hindered by the extra weight. But I know that is not where I want to go with my life and the direction I need to take. So I made this decision as hard as it may be, to move in a direction that will be better for not only me but my family in the future. I love food, but I love life more and I think we all need to be reminded sometimes of what is more important. Best of luck with everything.

Yes looks like we are very close to same surgery date. It is hard when people are eating around you but I am taking it one day at a time. One more down today and I got to walk two miles tonight with my daughter so that was nice and good for me. I have not cheated the liquid diet yet and it has been now 8 full days. I have 8 more before surgery date on 1st and I have lost 14 lbs so far and am now down to 313. My goal is to reach 200-210. Keep focused and stay on those liquids, they say it really helps with the surgery, plus it sheds some extra pounds before we even get the band. I know it will be alot of hard work and a HUGE commitment but I am in it for the long haul now. No turning back. I will make it work as I know you will. Best of luck and let me know how it goes this Friday. ... Jeff

Sorry to hear that Joanne. Hope you are feeling better tonight. Did the pacing around with your hands raised help you much? I am getting my band on the 1st and I am scared of this happening. I know it is going to happen, just want to try to be prepared if that is possible. -
Thanks Jen. I appreciate the support. How long have you had your band? How are you doing?
-
I appreciate and I am sure I will need all the support I can get through this all. I am a pretty stubborn person, thankfully. I think that will actually benefit me on this journey for a change..haha. How are you feeling after being banded this past Monday? Are the gas pains as bad as some say? Are you holding down your liquids? What type of liquids are you intaking now? Sorry so many questions, but I just want to be prepared. Hope to talk again soon.
