Who Still Drinks Caffeine In The Morning??
Cathy21 replied to ItsGottaGo!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I drink a pot a day and would not feel normal without. My gastroentranologist (sp) said coffee was bad for the reflux. So maybe that has something to do with it. -
I would publicly like to say that I am so sorry for the way my post concernings PB and vomiting sounded. It was not meant to be sarcastic or unkind. I was only worried about her. Maybe my southern Darling came off as sarcastic but what can I say I'm from the South and it was meant as an eadearment. And the education on chewing part was only to meant that her Dr. needs to explain chewing to herfurther. I am sorry if anyone felt I was harsh or not supportive.:phanvan

Hey Skizzy06, I was just commenting on Princess n theps 8/24 post about the profits going to a cause. From what i can figure you're not really making a profit! lol I think it's great that you would do this!

Who Cares? $4.95 with free shipping. It will probably take at least $3.50 to pay for shipping and packaging.

That sounds like like food poisoning but then again I don't know what it feels like to have my band slip. Can anyone explain what a slippage feels like?

How will I keep my secret in this situation?
Cathy21 replied to sweetsue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live in such a small town that if someone misses a week at Wal Mart someone working there will ask if you've been sick!HAHA. I elected to tell everyone about my surgery. I have never had so much support! The only person that I have not told is my MOTHER! Who lives in another state. When I went home at Easter, I just told her I was cutting back. She knows how I have struggled for years with my weight but surgery would be a cardinal sin. I too go out with a group of ladies once a month (for the past 18 years) and they are so proud of me and they always ask "is there anyhting here you can eat?" I tell them sure but just smaller portions. The only thing I can't eat is breads and pasta. When I told my Dr. that he laughed and said "Do you really need to be eating that anyway!" I guess he has a point! My point is this... it's your choice of who you tell. I am a very outgoing and outspoken person. I don't let anything anyone says hurt my feelings nor do I care. It sounds like you are just the opposite. But instead of being mortified and embarressed when the in laws ask how it's going just try to remember that they are trying to be supportive. -
I was banded in December and for about 2 months I crushed my meds but now they are able to go down by themselves. I would also like to say that I am totally off the antidepressants and the Nexium. So HooRAY!

Darling, that sounds like you need a slight unfill and some education on chewing. I'm not trying to be ugly but if you are that scared to eat then something needs to give. You need to talk to your Dr. Good Luck!

First of all, GOOD LUCK! I am 5'5 and weighed 227. This has been absolutely without a doubt the best decision I have ever made and would recommed this to anyone who has struggled with their weight. I had my surgery on a Wednesday morning. Came home on Friday. Was back to work on Monday. There was pain on Wednesday and Thursday but it was manageable. The great thing about the band is that if you are totally unhappy you can have it unfilled. Of course you've at that point wasted a LOT of $$. You can have restriction and not be miserable. Good Luck!

POLL Does Everyone Lose Their Hair??
Cathy21 replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have noticed that I am losing quite a few strands. Almost to the point where when I cook I'm scared it will fall in the food! Gross! I can't tell if this is more than the norm because I have let my hair grow out from being very short to shoulder lenghth. So maybe it just looks like more than usual. Anyway, I too would rather be thin and bald than have a fuller body with a full head of hair. -
My first fill was 8 weeks and he filled it to 3 cc.

How often do you see your doc to discuss issues and fills
Cathy21 replied to rorysmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I see my Dr. every month but if I have at least 1/2 lb a week loss then I can go for 6 weeks. My Dr. does the fills and I've been adjusted 4 times but 1 time I was over filled by about 1 cc and was completely miserable. I couldn't even take a full drink of water at one time without throwing up. Not to mention food.! I was filled on a Thursday and couldn't call the office until Monday. Since I live 2.5 hours away I couldn't get in til Tuesday. I lost 7lb the hard way! I have the 10 cc band and I am at 7 cc filled. I think this is going to be the "sweet spot". -

My Dr. required 2 weeks of full liquid diet. Unfortunately the date to start that was on Thanksgiving Day. I faithfully followed the liquid diet while everyone else in the family enjpyed Turkey dinner with all the trimmings, that I prepared! Did it bother me? It did but I had made up my mind that this was what I wanted and if I had to miss Thanksgiving dinner. then so be it. It was really hard. And you know what? When I went in to have my surgery, I told Dr. King about how hard it was missing Thanksgiving. You know what he said? Well, you could have started the next day. AARG....But I did lose 15 lb before surgery.
