    I just realised something...

The needle actually going in doesn't hurt much if you ask me, as it's such a small amount of tissue that they're passing through to get to your port. After they access you port it can feel a little odd, because it's moving around a bit in your ab muscle. It doesn't hurt, it just feels a little weird. I don't really know how else to describe it. You'll be fine though, and it'll before you even know it! Good luck!

    Weakness after surgery?

Hi Lauren, I think it really depends from person to person, and also on the diet your doctor has you on post surgery. Depending on how long you're on clear liquids and regular liquids will probably make the most amount of difference. When I was on clear liquids I was barely taking in 500 calories a day, so this left me feeling a little weak (I don't think weak is even the right word, more like unenergized). That's a huge change for a body that used to take in at least 3000-4000 calories per day. All in all though, it didn't really effect my daily functions much and I soon got used to it. Hope this helps!

    Back Pain

Hi guys! I need a little advice please... I'm about 12 days post-op now and for the most part everything's been fine and I've been feeling well. Last Wednesday I started with what felt like a side ache (or side stitch?), and it has yet to going away. In fact it's developed into a pain, not from any of the incisions, but rather on my left side directly below my ribcage (stomach area I suppose!) That pain isn't so bad, but it also is present in my back in almost the exact same spot. My back is quite a bit more painful, especially while I'm sitting. I can always feel it, but it feels better while I'm laying down. It's bearable when I'm standing, but I can only sit for short amounts of time because it gets so uncomfortable. It almost feels muscular, but because it's in the same spot in front and back I'm starting to wonder what's going on. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks! BTW I had some gas pains post op and this is very different feeling than that.

    My Biggest NSV To-Date

Congrats VLB! I love shopping and finding that you're a smaller size I have a few suggestions for you... You could find a cute pair of pants that fit really well in the waist area, and then spending $10-$15 to have the legs altered at a local taylor/seamstress. Fact of the matter is that we're all built different and I really think it's worth the extra money the get that perfect fit. You may only want to do one or two pairs of pants for the time being since you're still losing! Also, I agree with Sweet, check out Old Navy and Gap. They're kind of "juniors" stores, but they have a huge variety of pant and jean styles. Check out the At-Waist Relaxed. Old Navy carries up to size 20s, and Gap to size 16 in store and 20 online. Also, last but not least (sorry this is so long!), you may want to check out maternity jeans. I know that sounds funny, but if you think about it they're made for gals with skinnier legs and a bit of a belly. Good luck and congrats again!

    Boob job after lapband?

Great job on your weightloss, you're stats are amazing! I hope to be there soon myself :girl_hug: I had implants and a crescent lift about two years ago (at around 200lbs). I'm not sure exactly what you're having done, but I will say that my banding was a walk in the park in comparison. The day following my aug. surgery was probably the most pain I've ever felt, BUT it got exponentially less painful after that point. I'm not meaning to scare you, that's just my honest experience and everyone can be different. All that being said, I'm still thrilled with the results and would do it again in a heart beat (and I may need too after reaching goal!) Congratulations on doing this for yourself, you're going to be very very happy. Feel free to reply or PM me if you have any other questions or would like pics. Good luck!

Me too, it happens everytime I try to directly go to lapbandtalk.com I was only able to get in because I went to "New Posts" before I get redirected to the hacker's site. Hope it gets fixed soon!
  7. Hi guys! This forum has been wonderful and provided me with so many answers, but I have a new question that I can't find any info on... I was banded a week ago tomorrow, and have been drinking lots of fluids. At normal meal times I tend to have a bigish glass of diluted apple juice and a small cup of broth (yumm:tired). I feel nice and full afterward, but it just occured to me that I may be stretching out my pouch with so much Fluid at once. I just went and measured, and I'm drinking about 2c of juice, and 1c of broth. That's 3 cups and my pouch is only supposed to hold 1.5 cups! Anyone have any thoughts? Think I've done any permanent damage?

    Can Liquids Stretch Your Pouch?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your feedback. I suppose that all in all, what's done is done. Although I have been drinking slowly, I'm going to break up the juice and broth combo and hope that all works out ok. Thanks again!

Pseudo Tumor Cerebri Diaged in March 06

Hi Mom! I've been lurking for ages now, but finally joined to jump in on this thread  I'm surprised there's so many PTC folks on here, there's supposedly only 12,000 cases in the US. I was diagnosed 8 years ago at the age of 15. In my case it got so bad that it was debilitating. I could barely move from the pain, and had to be in a dark room or wear sun glasses all day long because of the damage to my optic nerves. My entire right arm was numb, and I had huge blank holes in my vision. Sorry, not meaning to scare anyone out there, just pointing out that every case is very different! After the doctors finally figured out what it was (they insisted it was a pinched nerve for the longest time!?) a spinal tap provided immediate relief and a real diagnosis (in fact, Dr's aren't supposed to give a PTC diagnosis without a spinal tap). The spinal Fluid regenerates rather quickly, but I had a good few hours of normality, and the pressure never got back to the point it was before. I lived with PTC for about 6 months, and then it just cleared up. I attempted to lose weight after the fact, but I don't think I had much success at the time. I know that your chances for reoccurances goes way down if you lose weight, but I'm not sure about it helping you to recover. PTC is really an understudied disease.... Anyway, I'll wrap this novel up. I'm fine now, no reoccurances, and the only permanent damage is some vision loss from the papiladema. Hope this was a little useful, I wish you the best!
