  1. Another thing to consider is what we percieved as being "full" before the band, is different then how it should be. Listen to your body's silent signals when eating. Mine is a deep breath, like a sigh. It took me a while to figure that out. And restriction can be tricky. I had too much, and I had to have a complete unfill last week. The last time I had a fill was Feb 3rd, but I have a tendancy to get tighter as I lose. So where I had no restriction with 3cc's 3 months out, with 0cc's 10 months out I have some restriction. You wil get through this time, I swear. Lol. If it helps, Gladware makes perfect sized containers for portioning out stuff, especially if you take your lunch to work. They have 1/2c containers that come in an 8 pack I think. They are awesome for lunches, or to put snack in to keep handy, like cut up fruit.

To Weigh or Not To Weigh

You have to remember, everyone is differnt. And looking at it this way-you've lost 14 pounds in 4 weeks! Thats 14lbs that you've said good-bye to. Be proud of what you've lost and don't be discouraged-everyone loses differently, and you still need to figure out how your body is going to deal with these changes. You're only a couple weeks out. Sometimes you'll feel like you've lost, but the scale will refuse to move. Look for the NSV's. I had a period of time where I didn't lose for 3 months-I even gained some back! But during that time I dropped another pants size. Your body will go through phases where you don't lose, and it will drive you nuts, but it's just how your body is going to work. And remember, it's a learning process

    Dating

Everyone is different. Personally, I'm very open, and pretty much anyone and everyone I know or meet know that I have the Lap-Band. WHen I meet a new guy, I usually let them know before the first date. But like I said, everyone is different. Sometimes you just have to go by your gut feeling. I think that you'll know when the time is right to tell him.
  4. Had my Upper GI today, and from what the tech was saying everything looked good. Band seemed to be sitting right where it should be, the only thing she saw was a little reflux-which I expected because of how bad it was in the past few weeks. Have to say, it feels weird to ba able to keep protein down after such a long time. I want to have a sandwhich, but I'm afraid of teh bread, lol. On the upside, I had just bought a new cookbook that is all redone recpies to make favorites into low cal-had grilled chicken parmigian for dinner. And I have a reciped for coconut shrimp that brings it from 1100 cals to 250 I'll post back when I know more bandwise.
  5. I went in for what I hoped would only be a small unfill. Instead I had a COMPLETE unfill:scared2:, and I have to go for an Upper GI to see if my band has slipped. And when my Dr pulled out my fill, we found out that instead of the 3cc's we thought I had-I had almost 8cc's! On the upside he didn't charge me-I didn't go in ealier because one of teh office girls told me that I couldn't get it done unless I had the $175-Oi he was pissed when he found taht out. My Dr is teh type that won't charge you if you're having issues-your health is more important to him, and his office girls know this. The girl might be fired because of this. But, here's to hoping that I can maintain til we figure out what's going on!

Filled too Much, Can't Eat Much

Unfill, unfill, unfill. I can't stress this enough. You don't want to be in the place where I am at right now. I'm headed in tomorrow for an unfill-and because I waited too long, I"m going to guess that at least half of my 3cc's are coming out. The longer you wait, the more problems you'll have. I had to wait because of $$ reasons, and I am miserable. I"m now to the point where I can't keep water down, and have horrible reflux. You don't want to be in this place. get a small unfill. It can work wonders.

    New insurance...

I have a new job which means new isnurance. And to the best of my knowledge my surgeon isn't covered  And I have to go in for an unfill which means it's all going to be out of pocket. I'm going to have to find a new Dr unless I want to do the rest self-pay.
  8. I'm with Chapmar on this...Banded in Nov 09, my last fill was Feb 3rd. I'm going in on Sat for my 3rd unfill since then. It seems that since that last fill, every 20lbs I lose, I need an unfill. ugh. And I think I'm going to have to pay out of pocket this time. Switched jobs, and I have new insurance, and I don't think my dr is covered
  9. Feeling pretty please with myself today... since my last post on the 4th when I hit my 70lb mark, I've flown past that and hit 82lbs lost this morning :tongue2: And I wore a new outfit to work today-something I never would have worn before- and besides everyone saying I looked good, someone told me I looked hot. That's a definite NSV for me I hope everyone is doing well, and no plataues are kicking your butts!
  10. Was a size 26...now I'm a size 18 Was a 44g... now 38DDD
  11. Other than the stuff I can't physically eat, I've given up nothing. My Dr. told me that since I don't eat much of it , use the real stuff-I'll feel mre satisfied, and it's not that much extra cals since we don't eat much anyways. THere's no way I could give up some of my faves- one of my favorite snacks is extra sharp cheddar cheese-not a huge hunk, just a couple bites worth-and it's a go to for me when I'm having a really tight day.

    Water question?

I'm with Leigha on this one. If my band is tight, drinking after eating is pretty much impossible for me. Causes me a lot of pain, and it's just not worth it.

    What to do?

Get an unfill. Everyone is different. Take me for example. My last fill was in february, and since then I 've had to go for 2 unfills, and I'll prob be going for another soon. It's been every 20lbs I lose since feb I have to go for an unfill. Don't live being miserable. You can hurt yourself, and your band.

    Tighter as you lose?

For me, I definitely get tighter the more I lose. The last fill I had was feb 3, and since then I've had to have 2 unfills. The first one wasn't so bad-lost 20lbs, and I got tighter but I could stil kinda manage, but knew I needed an unfill. The 2nd unill was another 20lbs down-thats 40lbs since the original fill- and I ended up so tight, that I couldn't keep down water, and I was waking up choking on vomit. Waking up vomiting is not pleasant. I was miserable, and I had to wait until my Dr was in his office close to me because I had just started a new job, and couldn't afford to take a day off. Even now, I find myself starting to get tighter as I'm dropping more weight. Trying to drink hot tea while at work, and taht seems to help a little.
  17. Hey there, I'm Sara. I live in Rancho Cucamonga, and I was banded 11/12/09 by Dr. Salimitari.
  18. I', hypo-and I have found that for me, it makes a big difference if I'm on my meds or not. I was off of my synthroid for 3 1/2 months due to money issues, and did not lose a pound during that time. I actually gained a couple. I was able to go back on it a couple weeks ago and I've dropped 10 lbs since. And the pills are small enough that I have not had a single problem swallowing them-I take pills larger than that, and my band is pretty tight.
  19. :thumbup:Hey everyone! Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated on here. Of course, I didn't really have much to update, since I hit a lovely 3 month plateau:scared2: I was stuck at 240 for the longest time. I did figure out taht there was a couple different reasons for my plateau-1. I was expecting one after 50lbs down and 2. I had to stop taking my thyroid meds because I couldn't afford them. I started back on my meds a couple weeks ago, and lo aand behold, the scale started moving again. I hit my 70lb mark which had me ecstatic a couple days ago:party: I also just did my measurments for the first time since January 25:eek: I totally have been slacking on that; I planned to do them once a month. But I got some great NSV's from doing them today. I've gone from a solid size 26 to a comfortable 18(in most brands), and since I've been banded I have lost: 1 1/2 inches off my arms 5 inches off my thighs 9 inches off my waist!! 5 1/2 inches off my bust 3 inches off my chest 6 1/2 inches off my stomach 2 3/4 inches of my calves 6 1/2 inches off my hips and i've brought my bra size from a 44G to a 38DDD which means 6 inches that is a grand total of.......45 3/4 inches lost!!!!!!!!!!!!! :tongue2::thumbup:
  20. I was relativily lucky, and knew that I had low thyroid levels all the way back in high school. Most of the women in my family have under active thyroids. What I've found is when I don't take my medicine-like i didn't for the past 3 months due to lack of $$$-I don't lose. I went back onto my synthroid 2 1/2 weeks ago, and have dropped like 10lbs since-which is very heartening after a 3 month plataue

    Mashed Potatoes and Eggs?

I still can't do scrambled eggs and i'm almost 9 months out. Mashed potatoes I can do in small quantities. But and alternitive I liked during mushiesis cooked carrots in chicken broth, then mash them like potatoes. That's still one of my favorites. I just take baby carrots-sometimes i cut them up sometimes i don"t- and boil them in water and chicken bullion like i'm making chicken soup. :rolleyes2:

    Vomiting every day...

Speaking from experience, vomiting every day is no fun. twice now my band has gotten so tight for no reason ive had to go get unfills. I havent had a fill since teh begining of feb. and teh last time i went in for an unfill, I was so tight, I couldnt even keep down water, and whatever I manged to get into my body would be thrown up during the night while i was sleeping. Unfortunatly i waited a little too long, and i started losing unhealthy weight, and once i got my 2nd unfill i gained back some of the weight i had lost. ugh. always go in if you even think you're too tight. its not worth it in the long run.
  23. Hey there. I'm doing ok-my bband has been acting up, lol. I've had to go in twice for unfills, and i'm down to 3ccs. Its being tricky-since my last unfil ive gained a little bit back, ugh. Sometimes I can eat normal, sometimes, I have no restriction, and sometimes, i'm tight. I wish I was a little more cinsistant, and that I was at least staying teh same other than gaining. Work is going pretty good though. Im enjoying the monday to friday, instead of working whenever. How are you doing?

  24. The more I lose, the tighter I get. Weird right? Has that happened to anyone else? The last fill I got(.5cc) was in February. I was at perfect restriction, but after about 7 weeks, and about 15 lbs, I got too tight. So, off I went to my Dr, and got a slight unfil of -.2cc. Again I was at good restriction, another 6 weeks, and 12ish lbs down, I got so tight that I couldn't even drink water. Again, off I go to the Dr for an unfill, and this time a whopping 1 cc was taken out. I am now .7cc down from where I started in February. And I'm a hair away from perfect restriction again. Ugh.
  25. Hey there. I'm 25, and I had had my surgery on November 12th. As of this morning, i've lost 62.8 lbs, dropped almost 10pts off my bmi, and dropped almost 4 clothing sizes, and my self confidence is way up. If I had the choice to do it again, I would do it in a heart beat.
