    May Challenge

Sara checking in here. Really bad month. I had a complete unfill on the 22nd, and my DR wants me in for surgery this thursday to either repair or take out my band. I find out today is I am having surgery. The only reason it won't hapen will be because I got the crap beat out of me on sunday morning by my now ex boyfriend, and there was some swelling on my brain, so that may delay surgery some. I am not liking this year. LOL. I hope everyone met or exceeded their challenge goal this month!!!
  2. Just found out that my Dr wants me in surgery on Thursday; he wants to remove my band due to complications :(

Anybody's PMS get worse after banding?

I would say definitely. I actually had those insane chocolate cravings today. Start of PMS + stressful day at work. Not a good combo. I hit my stash of mini oreos. I always make sure to stick to the portion size and it definitely did the trick. Today at least, lol. But I definitely notice that I'm a lot moodier, more cramps and breaking out again."sigh"
  4. Have to go in the morning for an Upper GI. Those things suck, and I already know what the reults are going to be. Frustrated I have to pay out of pocket because my inusrance doesn't kick in for 2 more months

    Vomiting and not stuck

If you had sever dry heaving, stick to liquids and call your doctor. Your stomach will stay swollen for longer than you think. It's always better to err on the side of safety.
  6. So, I figured I'd update this. A couple weeks ago my band randomly got tight again, as it is wont to do, and I went in for what I was expecting to be a slight unfil. Wrong. Again, I had to have a complete unfill. My Dr is pretty sure the slip I had got worse, instead of correcting itself like we had hoped. I'm leaning towards the same idea myself, seeing as I have no Fluid in my band, and almost teh same level of restriction. Won't know for sure though until I go in for an Upper Gi, which will be either when my insurance from my new job kicks in, or when I can get the money. *sigh* not too happy.

    May Challenge

Sara checking in at the same weight. My scale is going wonky and I didn't trust the number. It's going to be a challenging week. Some stress at work-I'm definitely an emotional eater so it's going to be hard to keep from grazing-, and tomorrow is my birthday. Having Angel food cake instead of my normal cake covered in frosting to cut some of the calories, but who knows what else is going to surprise me this week. Good Luck everyone!

    The Spring Fever Challenge

Didn't get to weigh in yesterday because my sister (she has Asperger's, who know's why she does the things she does) hid my scale. I weighed in this morning at 194.0 pounds, which is a loss of 3.8 since last week. I missed my goal for the challenge by 1 pound, but hey, that is still 5 pounds gone in April, so I'm not complaining
  13. Dr. Salimitari is my surgeon. He is AWESOME. He and his partner work all throughout southern california. I was actually refered to Dr. Sal after my insurance wouldn't cover through teh 1-800 people. Here's their website http://www.lapbandvip.com/. There's a thread on LBT about him actually. If you do a search on Dr. Salimitari in the forums, it should pop up, and you can read somemore reviews on him.

    Body Image

I've lost 104 pounds, and I still absolutely see myself as fat still. When I look in the mirror I still see myself as 300 pounds. It's better when I have clothe on, and I can't see the hanging skin, but I still have definite issues. I'm hoping when I hit my goal it will be a little etter, and after a tummy tuck, and the hanging skin is gone, I'll have more confidence.

    Bariatric Advantage?

From what I've tried, the Celebrate brand is pretty good. YOu can also sign up for a free sample. Here's the link http://www.celebratevitamins.com/component/chronocontact/?chronoformname=sample. I thought they tasted pretty good, and they have a lot of different flavors. though, I didn't try the grape, because grape flavored stuff is just yech, lol. They have a powder they sale that is Cake Batter flavored I want to try that sounds pretty good. It has "Each ENS (Essential Nutrient System) shake contains a high potency multivitamin, 500 mg of calcium citrate, 4 g of fiber, and 25 g of whey isolate protein in each serving" Once I start working( which is next week) I want to order it.
  17. Don't worry, you're not alone. In the first month or so after surgery your body is still healing. YOur main focu during this time isn't to focus on losing the weight, it's to let your body heal properly, so that once it does, everything goes as smoothly as possible. It is very common to not lose any weight in the 6 weeks after surgery; in fact, it isn't uncommon to even gain a little bbit of weight during this time. It's a big change, not just on your body, but mentally as well. You have to relearn how to eat, to figure out what your body's signals are, you have to learn the difference between head hunger and real hunger. It's a lot to deal with. But you aren't alone. You will start losing the weight. Just focus on letting your body heal itself first, so that you can be the best version of you possible.
  18. Just found out my neighbor is thinking of getting banded...unfortunatly, due to my opinion of her as a person, I'm having trouble being supportive of the idea. Not sure how I feel about myself feeling that way. I feel I should be more supportive. ut, I also know that type of person she is, and I know she would see it as a magic pill, and never to do anything to work with it.

  20. FRom what I understand it's pretty normal. You have to remember that you're on liquids right now, so your stool isn't going to be all that normal until your diet evens out. Liquids in=liquids out. Sometimes in the for of mucous. I don't think you have anything at all to be worried about.
