8 weeks post op ~ feeling discouraged
Saraboo replied to jessicakolman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far, the trainer has started me with different strength training stuff. using teh free weights, using teh resistance machines, and where I should be at with cardio. As i get stornger and more able he's going to switch it up, change what i'm lifting and stuff. he knows that i've had teh lap band, so toning is def part of my training. I was talking about the biggest loser, and he said that it's his favorite show and he can get like bob and jillian do. *eek* lol, kinda scared for that part. I have to pay for it, but i think it's definitely worth the expense. -

Happy New Years! and what the blue moon might mean.......
Saraboo posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wishing everyone a Happy New Years, and hoping that you all spent your night with the ones you love. With the blue moon occuring tonight, on the cusp of a new year and a new decade it made me wonder what it might mean:huh2::tongue2:, so i did a little bit of research. "The blue moon is not only a metaphor for something that occurs rarely, but it also has a history of portending luck, though without the pleasant and easy bifurcation between that of good and bad varieties. Superstition only has that the occurrence of a blue moon is the perfect time to plant the seeds of long-term goals that will blossom in the sun of a future day. This idea has to do with the superstition attacked to the blue moon that it contains magical properties. Any goals forwarded and planned beneath the glow of the second full moon of the month are thought to have the benefit of a kind of psychic tidal pull of the satellite. Unfortunately, the magic of the blue moon is unpredictably intense. To put in motion your goals for the future underneath the moon at the end of the month is the same thing as making a wish granted by a genie. If you don't use very careful and precise language, the result may very well be a sweet cookie full of arsenic. The potency of the magic of the blue moon is said to be concentrated and passionate; you may get what you wish for but in a way not foreseen if you allow loopholes to dangle beneath the bright reflection of the sun's light against the cold darkness of the lunar surface." The Luck and Rarity of a Blue Moon - Associated Content - associatedcontent.com :w00t: I thought that this was interesting, and could only mean the very best for those of us just starting our journeys and those who started long ago. May all your plans and wishes come true, and may the blue moon bring great luck to your life :smile2::biggrin: -
It sounds like you maight have bv-bacterial vaginosis. It's an infection where the symptoms are similar to a yeast inefection. An antibiotic should clear it up if thats the case. I had the same thing, and I was miserable.

I totally know what you're feeling. I'm 6 weeks out, with one fill, and today was killer. I spent the day with family. And surrounded by tons of food. Nothing remotely healthy in sight. Mashed potatoes where half of it is butter, sugary snack, only carbonated beverages, adthe ultimate killer...tameles. more than one kind, and being cooked all day long. i know that i ate more than i should have, but tomorrow is a new day. good luck to you all...

Cookie exchange madness
Saraboo replied to delfinajones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I seem to be on opposite end of the spectrum with the cookie madness. instead of people giving me sweets and baked good, i'm the one who bakes, and gives stuff away. I love to bake, but I get rid of stuff as soon as its baked. an angel food cake last weekend with fresh raspberries went to my cousins, two bactehs of peanutbutter rice krispy treats to my sisters friends. I'm making a cheesecake to take to my aunts on sun, and my mom and I will start with our who knows how many batches of choc chip cookies on saturday most likely. -
With the cold weather, homemade soups are perfect. We homeschool my youngest sister, and the soups are great for lunch, and the extra works for dinner also. If you make a chicken soup for lunch, you can thicken it up some for dinner and serve it with biscuts like a chicken pot pie. just make sure you save some broth for yourself. I've also gotten mysisters hooked on the protein shakes after a workout.

I was given the green light for salads at three weeks. one of my fave salads is realllly simple. green leafe lettuce, a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese, fresh toasted almonds, and a squeeze of lemon juice. *and the toasted almonds are really easy to make-get some sliced almonds, spread them on a cookie sheet, and pop them in the oven for 5-10 mins at 390. pull them out when slightly browned. i love to toss them in Soups too. and if you want extra flavor, sprinkle them with your favorite seasoning before you put them in the ove. yummmmm.

It definitely sounds like you need to find a new dr. I don't see how it can be healthy in any way to only eat once a day, and only fruits and vegtables at that. Did she tell you to have protein drinks or supplementss of any kind? Personally, my dr. told me that my body will tell me what it needs. eat when i'm hunrgy, just make sensible choices when i do. ie fresh veggies, nothing fried.

I've only been off soda for 3 1/2 weeks, and i took a small sip of my friends diet coke. it was so sweet i almost gagged. it's killed any desire i have for a diet cola. my dr. never really gave me instructions on whether i could have soda or not, i just decided not to.

I would have to say cold turkey would be the only way, and replace with something else with caffein. Personally, I don't like coffee but i like tea. I used to have a can of soda on my way to work at 1:30 am, a 20 oz bottle on my lunch at 6ish am, then hit a drive thru for a large soda when i got off, then another couple cans by the end of the night. it was all i wanted to drink. it gets easier the more time that passes by, and you'll find that after awhile, soda will taste too sweet. i was out with friends over the weekend, and i had finished my bottle of water but i was thirsty so i asked my friend for a sip of her soda-not good, i know, but it was that or alcohol, lol- and the soda was sooo sweet. it actually grossed me out some. i think i miss the thought of it more than the actual drink.

two of my fave's are a Vanilla Peanut Butter shake, or Choc Peanut Butter. the ingredients are the same for both just depends on what flavor preotein poweder you're using. 1 scoop Vanilla/Chocolate Protein powder 1 1/2 Tbs peanut butter 1 cup skim milk 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract/flavoring 6 ice cubes Blend all together and enjoy. i like the vanilla one better, reminds me of a nutter butter, yum. -

i know you said you have a can of cranberry sauce, but if you get fresh cranberries, fresh cranberry sauce is way better. and you can tweak it to your liking. i like to add a splashe of prange juice while is cooking, and a couple of orange slices. it's a bit hit in my hourse, and only takes 10 mins to make. there's a recipe on the back of the cranberry bag.

I never thought mushy food would sounds so good, lol. one of the few things the dr told me was only a week on the liqiuds, so i got to test out some mashed potatoes yesterday. best thing i've tasted in a looong time

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)
Saraboo replied to PrincipalsOffice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi everyone, I just found out about the sight a couple days ago. I was banded on nov 12. reading all the different posts on here kinda makes me feel stupid in relation to my band, lol. I didn't meet my surgeon until the day of my surgery, and I have no idea when my first fill is. all the direction i got diet wise was a gneric flier saying these foods are ok at this time, but i was never told how much i should try to eat or drink at one time. no clue how many calories i'm supposed to aim for each day, or how much protein and what-not. has anybody else has as confusing time as me? -
hi everyone, my name is Sara. I was banded last week, and it's been an interesting week, to say the least. I live in a house where there is always food, so its seems like something is always taunting me. I'm looking forward to making it to the soft foods. I'm tired of the broth, but i know that it's just a small step to a huge outcome.
-
That makes me feel so much better. I was starting to think I was given weird instructions. Thank you
-
I know that it's worth it in the end. the thing that seems to be confusing me is my post-op instructions have me starting mushy/soft foods at the begining of week 2, and it seem like in every other thread that i've read its seems like everyone else is on liquids for at least 2 weeks.
