I was banded on November 12, 2009. Here's a little back story as to why i decided to be banded...................For as long as I can remember, I've struggled with my weight. Food became a comfort first when my prents split up and my father left, and then again when my sister died. I have always been the fat friend, the girl with a "pretty face", and a "great personality". As I grew older I learned how to armor myself with baggy clothes, and the ability to lugh at myself, but underneath all the facades every comment, joke, or look hurt. I wasn't an overly active child, but i played softball up until circumstances prevented it. Once I was no longer able to play, I balloned up to 250 lbs. A couple years after high school, I tried weight watchers for the first, and i lost just under 40 pounds. Unfortunately, my insurance stopped covering it, and I wasn't ble to go to my meetings anymore. Of course the weight crept back on, and not only did I gain back the weight, I gained back another 40 lbs more. I tried different pills, and diets but nothing seemed to work. Then I enrolled in culinary school, and put on another 10 pounds. I was at my heighest weight ever, and just over 300lbs. I joined weight watchers again, but couldn't afford the weekly meetings, and had to quit again. I started thinking of either the Lap-Band, or gastric bypass, but at the time, I had no insurance, and was only working part time, and there was no way I would be able to pay for eitehr on my own. Then, I started a new job that came with insurance. I now had the means to have surgery, but which to pick? After a lot of research I decided that the Lap-Band was right for. I started the process in April 2009, and six months later, I was banded.
