  1. Hi, I'm in the process of pursuing lapband as well. I'm curious as to what pre-surgury diet Dr. Wagner does? And are the pre-tests usually done all at once? We were at another Dr. seminar last night and someone had mentioned that they were the only ones that did all the same day testing. But since my insurance won't cover the surgery and Dr. Wagner is a little less costly, we are looking into him. Also... has anyone done the out-patient surgery? I'm a little leary about that.

    I'm famous!

Congrats! You look AMAZING, and quite a cutie hubby too. You should be very proud. btw, what's a bodybugg? I have not clue :smile2:
  3. I just came home today, and have been pretty much been just on the verge of nausea all day today. My nose is dryer than the sahara desert. I have no desire to eat or drink anything, but am sipping on broth and Water. I feel like my guts are revolting on me. Did anyone feel like "ohmygosh what have I done?" Maybe I'm just emotional, I haven't really slept since surgery and came home to a sick husband to top it all off. Please tell me this gets better :smile2:

    gas

I constantly feel like I need to burp but can rarely get the burp to come out. Has anyone experienced that? Talk about painful, I feel pressure building under my breastbone.

    Stage 2 Foods

Today I took some cream of potato Soup and thinned it down a lot with chicken broth, then strained out the chunks. It was yummy!
  6. I'd also suggest providing things that aren't odor~riffic, nothing worse than having yummies wafting & lingering through your house for hours or days. Have things like fruit & dip, veggies & dips, meat/cheese/cracker tray. If you are on soft foods, maybe make parfaits with sugar free pudding and sugar free cool whip. I know you can at least have pudding, not sure about the sf cool whip. HTH

    My journey has begun!!

Wow, you've had quite a journey just to get to the beginning of your journey Congrats on making weight, sounds like you were really self motivated and did a great job! Here's to you and your journey ::::lifting my virtual glass of clear liquid:::::>sip<>sip<
  8. Merry Christmas to you! Be sure to post a pic of yourself in your cute new outfit!
  9. You guys are great! It's so comforting to know that I'm having normal feelings. Last night I was almost to the point of screaming "get it out, get it out, get IT OUT!" Today has been much better. Sticks, I also felt like there was something in my chest, I ended up coughing up phlegm this morning (difficult to do btw, I practically had to force it up) But just that has made a big difference. As far as Protein drinks, my Dr. recommended the Kellogg's Protein Water drink packets. I haven't tried them yet, but I suppose its worth a try. day two post surgery & plugging along.....
  10. I would have posted this as a poll, but I couldn't figure out how to. Anyways I'm wondering what the puke percentage is. Sick question I know, but I'm just trying to figure out what to expect.... How long have you been banded and, Have you thrown up... Everyday? Every few days? Maybe once a week? When trying new foods? Only when you've accidently eaten wrong, like too fast or too much You haven't thrown up since you've been banded, knock-on-wood
  11. Chicken broth and water has pretty much been in for me. I don't like flavored drinks, so, yea... broth & water.. but on the up side both are tasting really good

    Stomach Growling and hungry

hey LibraryChick, we are LAP-BAND® twins! I just came home today as well, were you banded yesterday also? My stomach is growling like a 500 year old house with a poltergeist and bad plumbing. But I just don't have the desire to eat. I think I'm actually getting hunger pangs, but I'm not sure what is hunger, what's gas, what is surgery pain....
  13. I would sometimes "swish and spit" or suck on a few ice chips. It is to hard to quash the feeling of needing a drink, for sure. I also hear that when you chew gum you are swallowing air, which is not good.
  14. That's exactly how I felt, one more sip and it was all coming up. They made me try to swallow as much of the crystals DRY, and then gave me a tablespoon of Water to try and chase it down, ugh. I started my liquid diet that same day, so the barium buffet was pretty much it for me that day. I am Sooooo glad that part of it is over! I would gladly do another week or two or liquids over the barium/rock crystal/barium cuisine. >ack<

    New Here....

First of all... WELCOME! Expect lots and lots of information! It can be a little overwhelming, but you can always come back here to the boards and ask all the questions you'd like :willy_nilly: I've found that message boards, with people going through exactly what you are going through, is an invaluable way to get answers and support.

    Ketosis????

I'm on day 3 now and am peeing like crazy too! I'm not allowed Protein shakes, just Clear liquids... but I must confess, I have been cheating... with celery! I told my husband its so bizarre to feel bad about eating celery >sigh< But it tastes so good right now and it's really settling my urge to chew. Today the headache seem to have gotten better, and the tiredness seems to be ebbing more... I'm actually having periods of feeling a little high or euphoric even...??? Anybody have that too?
  17. and smoking post surgery can cause the band to erode, which is a great incentive (for me anyways) to stay smoke free.... forever! I feel you pain though, I told my husband just this morning that this liquid diet would be SOOOOOO much easier if I could just smoke.
  18. Has anyone else been experiencing this? I'm on day three of Clear liquids and my body aches all over like I've been hit by a mac truck. Is it the liquid diet or just a coincidence? I can't think of any thing else it would be related to. Maybe a rapid loss of Water retention? Which I know I am experiencing, lost 5lbs in one day, I was at 231 on Thurs., weighed in at 226 yesterday. Or is my body just in shock,
  19. Hi, I'm scheduled for surgery on Dec. 17th and am now on the Clear liquids until then. This is harder than I expected. The headaches, the heartburn, the extremely low energy! Does anyone have any helpful tips to get through this period? I'm hoping post surgery will be a little better since my appetite won't be as much, or is that a unrealistic expectation? I especially need to hear from the Moms about how you dealt with making meals for the family? I have three kids myself, I also homeschool so not only do I have to contend with dinner but Breakfast and lunch also. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

    my-emmi help!!!!!!

this is kind of confusing to explain, but I know my computer has an "auto add" type feature... you know where you start typing in something and if it's something you've typed in before it will give you a little 'pop up' of the entire thing so you can just click on it and it fill it in automatically. Kind of like if I've filled in a form before and I type in "T" and it will pop up "Terri", and I just click on the pop up and go one to the next entry.... My my-emmie did the same think with my code, so when I went back to watch it a second time and I entered the first number the rest of it came up in a pop up. So what I would try maybe it so enter one digit and see if you get a pop up... if not, delete that number and try the next number... etc. Does that make sense? Hope it helps

    Cooking for the family

omgosh Soexcited that is a great idea to freeze part of the meal, I don't know why I didn't think of that! I love to cook as well and always do the healthier version of recipes. I've even cook up meal for the entire month and froze them, so that's why I kicking myself for not thinking of that before. My kids are 14, 12 & 6. Thanks for the helpful hints, definately encouraging!
  22. I had a small period in my life when I was thin-ish, from like age 27-30 and can't wait to have that 'freedom' again! But I just wanted to tell you that when I read your post I just become so excited for you and truely pray the best for you and your journey!

    December Bandsters 2009

Hi, I'm new posting here. I've been lurking around the forums for a few months now, but I officially have my surgery date! I'm self pay so things went very quickly. We did the seminar on Nov. 21st, met with the surgeon on Dec. 3rd and now I'm scheduled for my psych eval. & pre-op this wed. & thurs, with surgery scheduled for the 17th. I'm very excited and nervous! With everything proceeding so quickly I'd welcome any advice, tips and/or tricks for everything coming up. I start my clear liquid diet on Thurs. Any suggestions on what to pack for the hospital? Things that would helpful to have at home the first few weeks? How did you feel when you first came home? We are suppose to go to a family christmas thing a few hours away that Sat. following the surgery. Does that seem possible? the back up plan is for me to stay behind with someone to stay with me and let my husband and kids go ahead. Thanks in advance for any helpful info!
