When I went in for my pre-surg testing I had blood work done. I asked what are they testing for and one of the items was a pregnancy test. So I think you are covered. But about my menstrual cycle. I am late because of nerves and I hope I don't get it before surgery. I am stressing over that. Also having it soon after surgery and having soreness just to take care of it.

Chris S. - LI, I am going to be banded by Dr. Alan Geiss on thursday the 19th. I was in the middle of some dental work. I made sure my teeth didn't have any issues. Good info

Yesterday I went for my pre-surg. testing and I have approval from my insurance company. So everything is a go for October 19th. Today I go to my physician for clearance.

Its great hear that you are in a good place emotionally during the pre-op diet. I am starting the pre-op diet on the 12th. I am sort of looking forward to it so I can stop all the "Last Supper Syndrome." Which lilquid drink do you find tasted the best?

Don't forget me! I will be banded on October 19th. I am preparing for the liquid stage that I start on October 12.

Welcome! i will be banded on October 19th. I am in the prep phase. I just went to Health Food Store and bought Whey Protein drinks. I'm going to test it today to see if I like it or move onto another brand. Next year at this time you will look totally different.

LET THE OCTOBERFEST BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!! I will be banned on October 19 and today I will start to prepare myself with all that I need for the lquid diet. I think I need to start the liquids on the 12th. Sign me up for group.

I will be banded on October 19th and I too am eating more than usual. I guess I have the Last Supper Syndrome. On October 12 I begin the liquid diet. I am nervous and excited to ge the process started. I am getting banded by Dr. Geiss on Long Island. Anyone else out there sharing a hospital bed next to me?

I will be banded on October 19th and I am in the "Last Supper" phase. Next week I will be on the pre-op diet. But really thinking this over I have come to the conclusion that when I say to myself this is the last piece of pizza I will be eating and I enjoy it dearly and feel satisfied.........the fulfillment of the "last pizza" doesn't stay with me. So by eating the LAST of each kind of food really doesnt make sense. Until all this craziness stops by the pre-op diet I can then more on from this phase. The emotional "last Food" is nerve racking.

Wow! What an inspiration you are to all of us. We all know it is not an easy feat and that some days are not so good but the outcome is well worth it!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Sherilyn, I am going to be banded on October 15th. I started my journey just like you. Our story is so similar that I can sign my name to your entry. Really getting the band is about nobody but your relationship with yourself. No one else is inside your head feeling what you are feeling on a daily basis. It is up to you to make decisions which are good for you and the way you want to live. I have been on evey diet and WW a thousand times. Like you, intellecutaly I know how to loose weight but it goes further than that for people who are obese. We need something else "like a coach" to help us also to maintain the weight lose long term. The bigger picture is your health. Do your friends/boyfriend understand that you want to be healthy and not risk heart attacks and other significant health issues down the road. Take care of you. Not everyone knows that I am going to get banded. I told my husband who at first thought I was crazy but after I explained that I want to live and not be ill he understood. If your parents are supporting you then maybe it is an option for you. Good Luck. Make yourself happy not others.

Congrats! I wish you a fast recovery! Just think, this time next week you will be feeling great. I will be banded on October 19 and reading and learning from all of the bandsters.

Great News!:clap2: I have an October 19th surgery date!!! I am thrilled and I am now nervous which I have expected to feel as this whole journey progressed. But I know the goal that I am after which is to be healthy and thin. I could hardly picture myself living as a thin person. Now I am excited.

Here I am going for the last of the cardio evaluation today. I'' be glad when it is all over. I am anxious to get a surgery date scehuled for October hopefully or the latest beginning of November. I feel like time is going so slow.......I guess it is living in the uncertainty which is worse. The support of this site helps me keep going. Its better than a WW meeting!! I think you all are super :clap2:

I am using Dr. Geiss for my banding. I would love to hear your thoughts about your experience. I need some reassurance.

I will be attending the October 3rd meeting. At that time all my pre-op testing will be complete. When do I get a surgery date? I am now 40 years old and have had a weight problem all my life. Now I want to make sure I am healthy for the next 40 years. I am scared if I don't do something about my weight issue now I will end up in a hospital bed, ill, on tons of medication and saying to myself "What did you do to yourself all these years!" I am ready !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:confused: I am in the pre-op stages of just testing. I already had an upper GI series, blood work, ekg, and stress test. On Friday I go for an ECHO. My nutrtional and physch. are set up for Monday the 18th. The dr. that will be performing my surgery will be DR. ALAN GEISS in SYOSSET.

Thank you "ediparks" and "Teresita" for your words of encouragement. My husband wasn't all that happy that I was going to have the band done. Reluctantly he said that he supports me but I still don't feel that he is fully on board with it. I know that it is up to me to take control of it anyway. But having all of you out there makes my heart SMILE!!!!!!!!! So far I have went to all my pre-op testing by myself and I know I will be happy later on. I am a size 18 in jeans and that is quite large because I am short. I know I need to have the strength to fight for myself. Denise2
