  1. Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan Scroll down and the plan is there.... it's 8 weeks with 3 variations to choose. I'm starting week 3 tomorrow, so tomorrow I'll be doing this: 5 min warm up walk, then 2 repetitions of: Jog 90 seconds, Walk 90 seconds Jog 3 minutes, Walk 3 minutes Then cool down walk for 5 minutes I don't really go by the length of time they tell me, If I can do more, i do more. It should be 20 minutes but I haven't done less than 30 yet. I'm really trying to push myself. It's definitely been getting easier, but I still hate running. My goal has been to fun a 5K with my friends (and not just hold up signs for them at the end of the race like I usually do- soooo embarrassing) It may take me longer than everyone, but I will DO IT!!
  2. I was just banded 01/15 and just started on solids. Since I haven't had any fills yet, I have very little restriction. but since my stomach seemed to shrink a lot from the 3 week liquid diet I was on, I am able to keep to a low calorie diet through sheer self control! But I still log everything into Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal | MyFitnessPal.com. Here's my diet for the past week: Breakfast: Whole Wheat English muffin with low fat Peanut Butter and sliced banana on top- THIS IS SOOO YUMMY! (300 cal) Lunch: Homemade Turkey Chili- I made a ton in the crockpot and portioned it out and froze it- (300 cal) Dinner: Turkey Burger with avacado and green salad with spray dressing- (485 cal) My Snacks are yogurts, cottage cheese, string cheese, or raw veggies. I try to stay around 1200 calories daily.
  3. Yes, that is definitely different, And still a wonderful program! Good luck!
  4. I'm doing the online plan. It's 2 months. 8 weeks. I don't know what you are talking about with 5 or 7 months. That's a looong time to train for a 5K. Maybe it's something different. I'm doing 5 days a week right now because I am still doing more walking than running. My body feels great! And it gets easier everyday....

    Feb 10 -82lbs

You are totally my inspiration!! We are the same age and it looks like the same starting weight. I love seeing progress pictures, they are so encouraging! Keep up the awesome work!
  6. Hi Guys! I love Couch to 5K. I started it 2 weeks ago. Tomorrow starts my 3rd week and I up my running even higher. My goal has always been to run a 5K but never knew how to train. I've become so addicted that instead of the 20 minutes they tell you to do, I never do less than 30 and sometimes up to 50. And I've been doing it 5 days a week, not 3. It's been the BEST challenge. Don't get me wrong, I still HATE running, but I hate it a little less each day. And to answer the big boob question.... I have huge ones, as most of us do here. And I wear 2 sports bras and one tank top with a bra in it. I am completely strapped in! And it helps, but I still feel tons of pressure on my chest. I can't wait till I can wear just one bra! Oh happy day....
  7. Hi Leslie! I thought it would be a lot more difficult to keep this a secret but so far so good. I had surgery 01/15 and lost 10 lbs pre op and have lost another 12 since then. I'm on to solid foods as of this week. I have noticed NO restriction whatsoever BUT my willpower and self control has been surprisingly high so I've continued to lose. I run 5 times per week and am working on the couchto5K plan right now. I'm hoping to run my 1st 5K by April. It has been the best decision for me. And I have so much support on here as well as the OCC support forum that I feel I am not alone at all. Good luck to you, and let me know if you want me to refer you to Dr Ortiz. He was amazing! They said if you use my name, I get a free fill. :) So hook me up! haha! Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

  8. I think what I didn't like about it was that it made the assumption that all ugly people (not necessarily FAT but ugly) are of wonderful character and that beautiful people are not. I guess that wasn't that point of the movie- I only saw it once so I might be mistaken. But that was the general assumption I got out of it. And to me- whether overweight, ugly, obese, thin OR beautiful if not necessarily offensive- but untrue. So I just thought it was a dumb movie and chalked it up to that!

    Exercise Challenge?

I had a slow start with this challenge but am doing much better. I am on the Couch to 5K and tomorrow will be Week 2. I'm supposed to walk 90 seconds/run 60 seconds for 20 minutes. I've yet to do less then 27 minutes and today even did 40! It's also supposed to be 3 days and I did 5 this week. BUT tomorrow starts a new day. Tomorrow starts 2 minutes walking/90 seconds running. I doubt I'll make it to 40 minutes doing that any time soon. It's such a wake up call to how out of shape I am! I hate it. I am still so out of shape but keep reminding myself that I'm getting there
  10. APRIL!! Have you really lost 34lbs??? I am sooo proud of you! You are doing so great! You are my HERO! I'm so glad you are my Bandster Buddy! Keep up the awesome work! You are fantastic!!!
  11. Hey! Doing great with the workouts- LATELY. I started the Couch to 5K workout. I've kept up with it for the last 4 days in a row. That may not seem like a long time, but for me it IS! My goal is to be able to run a 5K in 8 weeks. I'm so out of shape it's pathetic.

Well I'm glad to hear you are doing well with your workouts as well. Keep it up! BTW.... I started eating solids and so far so good. Honestly, I don't even feel any restriction which worries me. But my self-control is up so I've been able to keep to my diet plan without cheating. But I'm looking forward to fills so I can feel like ever-so-lovely RESTRICTION. Anyway, good luck, and keep me updated! :)

    Exercise Challenge?

This would be wonderful for me. I'm 13 days post-op and doing well but haven't started a regular exercise program yet. I just started the Couch25K yesterday. I was dreading it all day but when I finished, I felt great. And my stomach, legs, and hips are sore- and it feels awesome. Couch to 5k - C25K Running Program is the website if anyone is interested. I'm going to do it 5 days a week although the program says only 3 are needed. Give it a shot, I've heard great things about it.
  13. I've found after reading everyone else's Dr's requirements that mine is quite harsh. I'm on liquids ONLY for 21 days post-op. And it has been very tough. But I have lost 8 lbs since surgery and 10 in my pre-op diet. But I put on 2-3 lbs right after surgery which freaked me out! But I think it was just my body healing. I would suggest keeping a journal of everything you are eating. I use Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal | MyFitnessPal.com. I'm addicted. I've found lots of mushies can be high in calories- same with liquids so I'm keeping an eye on it... Try that. AND start working out. Walking is a great start if you are as out of shape as I am! I am a 90210 junkie and love watching the old episodes. To make myself work out I only watch it on my treadmill. A simple walk will get your heart rate up.
  14. You definitely sound like you know what you are talking about! Thanks for the input. I'm only 11 days post op so I am still on liquids. But I was wondering what a typical day of food for you is. Can you give me a run down of what you usually each daily? Just an example would be awesome. Thanks!

    I am failing miserably

My Doctor and Nutritionist both told me not to have ANY carbonated drinks in the first 6 months because it stretches the band out tremendously.

    Port Pain?

My surgery was January 15th and I still have port pain. It is bearable though unless I bend to turn awkwardly. Some days it hurts more than others. I've heard it will hurt for about a month. Remember, you are still healing....

    Easter Challenge Anyone?

Can I join?? I am only one week post-op so I'm still "getting to know" my band. But I am super motivated and excited and want to share my successes and failures with all of you! PLUS I am a bridesmaid in July and need to drop as much as possible as fast as possible so I can turn some heads!
  18. All of this sounds so good! I'm one week post op and am still on full liquids and some "mushies." I can't wait to eat real food so I can try all these yummy things! This morning I had an Activia yogurt and coffee.
  19. Let's "band" together! :rolleyes2: I started my pre-op diet today and it's NO FUN! I just have to keep reminding myself that I can do it!! Who else is on their pre-op?? I have a Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch and a lean cuisine for dinner. I can have a green salad with no dressing or a sugar free popsicle for a snack. I could easily down all of that as ONE meal! I guess that's why I'm in this boat. I'm also going to start the Couch to 5K program this week. Anyone wanna join me?? Anyone else wanna share their stories??
  20. I am scheduled to get banded January 15th and I couldn't be more excited! I am self pay and will have to pay for my fills on my own as well. I'm pretty much wiped out financially from the surgery and I was thinking I'd have a financial "break" for a while. But after reading several posts it almost seems like the 1st fill comes within 2 months. Is that right? How often are fills needed? And does anyone know of a Dr in Charlotte, NC that has good fill prices? I'm having surgery in Mexico and can't be running back and forth for fills. Any tips??? Thanks!
  21. Hey Janelle! I thought I'd send you a message directly. I'm so excited we are using the same Dr. :) No, I haven't been on the OCC message boards. I'm on here constantly though. I guess I should start using theirs as well.

I hope this doesn't come off weird but I'm going to give you my phone number. I'm having surgery on Friday (yippee) but I've chosen not to tell anyone about it. For lots on reasons. I'm sure I will be shouting it from the rooftops once I see success but right now, I'm keeping quiet. Would you mind calling/texting me to check on me? If I were having surgery around the corner, I'd think nothing if it. But it is in Mexico. And you know that is is safe or the most part but still- there are more risk factors. PLUS- I'd LOVE to share our experiences with each other and hold each other accountable.

Anyway, my number is 561-445-4753. It would mean a lot to me!

  22. Please don't let it bother you. I am having surgery on Friday and I want the good the bad and the ugly. Honesty is best. Pre-op posters appreciate knowing how everyone feels. So don't hold back. Your comments help people get a full view of the possibilities as well as the ups and downs. So thank you.
  23. Hi Janelle! I am using Dr Ortiz too. My surgery is scheduled for January 15th- this FRIDAY! I'm very excited. Well I just wanted to say hi and congrats on your decision. I agree with your comments about insurance- we are in the same boat!
  24. Your pictures are so amazing! I'm having my surgery on Friday and hope I'm as successful as you have been. Congrats on your transformation!

    January 15th Bansters??

Hi Charise! I love the shoes so far. I am not on my feet all day though. I actually wish I was so I could take advantage of them more. I work form home which means I basically wear slippers! :smile2: But I definitely love how great they feel on my feet when I do go out and wear them. I walk with them on my treadmill too. I've been working out a lot lately and my body is so sore- so I'm not sure hoe much of that is from the shoes but they feel great. I recommend them for sure. I got mine on Amazon for $100.
