banded in november pregnant in december!

Just like the title says, I was banded in November and got pregnant in December. Much to my surprise. I didn't think that I would be able to have children without fertility treatments of some type. I was diagnosed with poly cystic ovarian syndrome about 10 years ago. We were between birth control methods because the pills I was on were raising my blood pressure. So I'm scared and happy. I've only had one fill, lost about 46pounds, and can eat about 2cups at a time of anything I want. I am still loosing weight but slowly. Only about a half pound a week. I'm sure my dr will want to remove all of my fill. Its fine, I trust him. I'm going to work hard to be as healthy as possible for me and my little baby. Crazy what life can give you  So far no vomiting

banded in november pregnant in december!

thank you so much everyone for your positive words. For some reason I expected at least one person to scold me and tell me how irresponsible I am. I'm 11wks along now and things are good. The dr says so far I will not have to have an unfill  Really, thank you everyone for your supportive comments.
  3. Yeah! So cool! I'm just a little bit ahead of you. I'm due September 20th. Just had my 10wk ultra sound and everything looks great. Awesome to hear from someone in the same boat as me. Please keep in touch and we can share crazy pregnant stories. I don't know about you but I've been lucky not to have any vomiting so far. And of course..Congratulations!

  7. Happy Birthday!:tongue2: I hope you have a great week because I personally believe that you should celebrate for an entire week! :) Ha! Don't be to hard on yourself. You have come a long way and slow and steady is the best! Hovering totally sucks and is soo frustrating. You just have to keep at it. I am struggling too. Its hard not to let food preferences make my food choices. I to the obgyn on tuesday. Hopefully I haven't gained and hopefully baby is ok :)

    Preparing myself for surgurey

HI! Glad you posted. You are not alone. I have been banded for about four months and it has been good for me in lots of ways. Already my blood pressure and cholesterol is better. I recommend having an excellent doctor and learning as much as you can. This site helped me a lot. Everyone seems to have a different journey but I find lots of things that are the same too. Stay positive and true to yourself :frown:
  9. Thanks for the encouragement :) I am taking lots of vitamins and can eat well. 10wk ultra sound is on the 23rd. Hope fully I can report back that everything is going well after that. Are you doing good? What is your restriction like?

  10. Ahh! Jessi I'm almost 7weeks pregnant! I'm so shocked. I hope that I can keep the baby and myself healthy. Pray for us Please! I am happy and nervous :)

  11. Amour! How are you? I hope you are doing well, just wanted to check in. My weight loss is going slow but of course I'm still trying :) Soo ready for spring so I can get outside and not be afraid of falling on the ice. hope you are doing ok, write soon if you can :)

  12. HI! Glad to hear from you! I have been close to stalled for the last two months. I went to the dr and was surprised that I was down 8lbs. But than I got an even bigger surprise....get ready......I'm six weeks pregnant! I am soo shocked. I was just banded in November and got pregnant in December. I have no Idea what my lap band surgeon is going to think about this. I should call him today. But, we are happy. Scared because I am still so heavy, have diabetes and high blood pressure but, happy. My sugars and bp have been good and I'm on medications that are safe to take while pregnant thank goodness. I have never prayed more than I have in the last week :) Going to have to work really hard at food choices now. I should have known something was up when all I want to eat is malt o meal. Ha! I wonder if they will want to empty my band, I hope not. I am able to eat about two cups at a time. sigh..this is very big news in my life. I want to loose about 100 too. Thanks for staying in touch.

    first fill

I drove through the storm to get to my first fill appointment. I was glad my other half came along. We saw at least 15 cars in the ditch. One went in right in front of us. I met with a new nutritionist who admitted he knew next to nothing about how the lap band works. Strange. But the fill itself went really well. Quick and painless. I feel like it gave me a tiny bit of restriction. I feel full quickly. I'm encouraged that this will help me with over eating and emotional eating. I am noticing I think a lot about food when I'm anxious or angry. I'm sure I will still need more fills to find my sweet spot but things seem to be going well on my lap band journey I'm going to do this. I'm going to become a healthier more active person. I'm going to work really hard to get my body in shape to have a baby too Plus setting a date for my wedding. Hopefully in September. This July will be my 11 yr anniversary of dating so we are long past due to do it up right. I'm going to wait as long as I can before picking a dress.

a month and a half post band

A month and a half after being banded and I'm doing well. My weight loss has slowed but, I'm not surprised. I could list a billion excuses but I won't. I have to get back on the program. My tastes in what I like to eat have changed. I used to eat a lot of carbs. Like a lot. Very embarrassing but I'm going to spill it. I used to come home from working the night shift and eat plates of spaghetti. Almost every day. Big plates. Then my blood sugar would spike I bet. I would feel full and good and than I would sleep. I'm not binging anymore. I feel full quickly even though I haven't had a fill. But I'm nibbling through the day. I kind of wish I could nap because than I wouldn't be tempted to eat. I have to leave the house or I just nibble. I know that it adds up. I don't know how I justify doing it. My exercise routine has also faltered. Must get motivated! Must keep working towards my goal! Must be strong! I can do this :cursing:

  18. Ha! Yes! I am worried that the saline wont make the band tight, or that my port has flipped upside down so they can't fill it, or that my band will have a leak and the fill will not stay. I'm sure every thing will be fine, its just all in my head. I'm doing ok so far. I've lost thirty one pounds. Would like to loose another hundred in the next year. My tastes in what I like to eat have changed a bit. Have you had this?

  19. We were banded and scheduled for a fill on the exact same day! Just thought I'd say Hi. Hope you are doing well. I'm looking forward to the fill. I need some restriction and am anxious to make sure that everything is ok and that the band will fill like its supposed to. Good luck to the both of us :)

    Almost one month post-op!!

You sound exactly like me! I am almost a month post op, my weight loss has been slow but steady. I feel awesome! And I am afraid to try some foods. I thought that was just a thing going on in my personal brain so Its neat to hear someone else say the same thing. I'm not so much afraid that they are going to get stuck. I think maybe its that it will bring back the old me, or undo the progress I've done. I am afraid to eat pasta, rice, potato, bread. Basically starches. I have no problem eating protein. Also not really eating veggies. Not sure what the dietitian is going to have to say about that. Good job staying strong. I want to climb one of those rock walls HA! Good luck to both of us. I know we can do it if you stay the course :sneaky:
  23. Snow snow and more snow for me today. Got my car stuck and had to shovel it out. Ha! At least I got some good exercise in this morning right? :) I'm in a super good mood because its december and Christmas is coming. Do you have any holiday traditions? My family eats the same things each year but thats about it. Hows your stand still on weight loss? I am at a stand freeze right now. Think I need more exercise. Hope that you are well and warm today :)

  24. Snow snow and more snow for me too! I got my car stuck leaving work this morning and had to shovel out. Good exercise though right? :) I'm doing pretty good. Weight loss has slowed to a halt and I'm almost a month post banding. I haven't been exercising much but I've been eating considerably less than I did before banding. Wish that was enough to keep the pounds coming off but apparently its not. I have a fill appointment for mid January and I'm hopeful that will help with evening hunger. How is going for you? Do you do anything special for Christmas? I will try to get some pictures up on this thing soon :) Hope that you are staying positive, staying warm and dry this week. I love the snow too. It wouldn't feel like the holidays without it.

  25. I'm not sure how much I will be able to get on line this month. I have a lot going on. But I will check in when I can. And when I can't I will be thinking of you :) and hoping you are doing well and staying warm. do you have any holiday traditions? Do you get together with family?
