  4. Well I went to my appointment. Actually I took myself to the emergency room five hours before my appointment because it hurts so bad. You all were right. I have gallstones. I will be having surgery next Monday. Thank-you for reading my original post and giving me direction. Sometimes it is hard to see if it is just your band working or is there something wrong. When I got bloated I thought that is what it felt like to be full. It will be interesting when I don't have that bloating feeling and have to find the full feeling. thank-you again.
  5. thank-you for the replies. Unfortunately, that is what i was thinking too. A year ago I had similar problems for about two weeks. they thought it was my gall bladder at that time however they didn't see any stones so they chalked it up the acid reflux. I have made an appointment. I plan on mentioning the duct. I can not handle anymore episodes. I almost took myself to the emergency room last night. Again thank-you
  6. I have been banded for six months now and have very little problem. Of course the post surgery was painful however since then I have not had pains until now. I think I am having gas pains and not sure why. i am not eating or drinking differently. My pain is straight in the middle of my abdomin below the ribcage and in my middle and lower back. Sometimes it makes it hard to breath (heavy weighted). Nothing seems to help, it is so painful at times all I can do is double over and cry. I remind myself that it is gas pains and will eventually go away. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone have any ideas of why this is happening now? I am miserable.
  7. Hello - I have my first fill today and I am nervous. I have been reading people's experiences and threads however, I am not sure what to expect now. I haven't really lost any weight since my surgery six weeks ago. I plan on taking a deep breathe and meet with the doctor. How do you control the anxiety? I live about an hour and half from the doctor. What does it feel like if something is wrong? being a nervous nelly.

    Post Surgery Depression

I too have depression and was diagnosed with PMDD in the last year. Depression is a chemical inbalance. the surgery and all that goes with it may have altered the balancing act your meds did. When I was going through PMDD I was taking my meds and thought I was going crazy. I kept thinking I am taking my meds what is wrong. My doctor referred me to a psychiratrist that specializes in medications for my stuff. It has made a world of difference. Make an appointment with your doctor straight away. Talk to him/her about what's going on and how you did with your past surgery. Don't wait.

Is it normal to be so tired...

I was banded on January 25 adn I am still tired. That first week I was exhausted and had terrible pains from the surgery. The pains were due to the gas. I didn't take pain meds either. I did take Gas x and used a heating pad. these were life savers. Walking then laying down seemed to relieve it too. I am starting week three and I am not having those pains. I do have a pain that comes and goes near the port however feeling so much better. I am going by the motto - one day at a time. Keep your spirts up and take one day at a time.
  10. hello - I was banded a few weeks ago and can finally eat solid food. I am finding that I am so hungry these days. i did really good on the preop diet and lost 15 lbs however since being banded I have not lost anything. Plus I am hungry all the time. I am trying to make good choices but nothing seems filling. Plus.. I have this pain on my port side but it is not at the port location. Could i have broken my band? Most likely not but paranoid none the less. I think this is all normal however when will I stop being hungry? Are you supposed to lose weight before your first fill?

    Scale!

I was banded the day before you and before that I never wanted to see a scale. I used to say - me and the scale are not on speaking terms. Cringed at the doctors when the made me get weighed, I usually said no unless they insisted. However, looking back that may have contributed to gaining weight because I never knew how much I weighed. I was really surprised when the doctor weighed me for consultation. I had the surgery two weeks later. I now weigh myself first thing in the morning. I think that may be too often at this point. I would have to agree with the previous post and say weigh once a week. But do get a scale.
  12. Hello all - I am newly banded, January 25. I was really excited about have the band and did all kinds of research and reading however, I am feeling a little down. My stomach looks horrid. I am bloated and have some much gas that it is disgusting. Does anyone know when this will go away? Plus, it doesn't seem like I am losing any weight since being banded. I lost 10 pounds pre surgery but now I am eating very little and making no difference. Is this normal? Maybe I am just feeling sorry for myself because I set myself up for unreal expectations or I am just looking to see that I am normal and need encouragement. Just taking it one day at a time.
