  1. You may need to get that xrayed in case you had a slip. I've never experience pain in my shoulder, however if you did it is probably you right shoulder? I've had my band unfilled because when I travel to lower elevations, my band loosens and I can eat more. And when I return to higher elevations, I must have something stuck so I throw everything up. Everytime I travel, I return and have an adjustment made which allows me to temporarily eat a little more but that's when I usually choose a salad with lean protien and light dressing. Once I'm adjusted back to where I was I just focus on portion size. I'd be interested to know why you're having shoulder pain though...
  2. The band is pretty finicky. I believe that constant adjustments must be made. Sometime tighter and sometime looser. My band is usually tight all day, until after 8pm when I shouldn't be eating anything, then loosens up. And about once a month, my band is loose all day! The band has really taught me how to eat and maintain small portion sizes that satisfy me. And to avoid the bad habits that made me fat in the first place. I can't rely on my band to control my urges. I still have to use wheelpower during the times when I know my band is loose and I can eat more. I've now had my band for 2 years and it's been a rollercoaster but I'm still loosing weight. My last adjustment was in May 2011.

    Self Sabotage

Okay, so I was banded June 11, 2009. I did it because one of the girls I work with got banded and she did really well with it and lost a ton of weight. I have in the past exercised and ate right to lose weight. The problem is that I am of the mind set that once I lose a certain amount of weight that I can go back to old habits. I know that's the wrong way to think, but the hope was always in the back of my mind. Everytime, I start doing really well and lose a lot of weight, I sabotage my efforts by eating high calorie, high fat food. Yes, chocolate, ice cream, chips, and other junk. Skipping meals and not eating the necessary proteins. I realize, that it is all in my psychology. I need to change the way I feel. I need to free myself from the fear of succeeding and treat myself like I'm worth it. I'm almost at my year mark and I've only lost 49 Lbs. which I don't begrudge, but I know I could have lost more. I haven't exercised one day and I have cheated whenever the motivation was absent. It will be an uphill battle to change the way I think. But I'm going to try and start a new exercise regimen and join a support group. I figure, as long as I know that I am the problem, I know what to do.
  4. Hello! I'm so excited to have found this website! I got banded June 2009. I've had ups and downs in terms of weight. More down than up. I started at 334 and was put on a pre-op diet! Lost 10 pounds prior to surgery. Weighed in at 324 on the day of my surgery. Anyway I just weighed in this morning at 283. I'm on my way! Woohoo!:w00t:
  5. Hi! I'm new to the site! I had the same problem. I would get a fill and be great for about a week and a half. Then, suddenly, I can eat more. My doctor told me this is normal. He said that when I get a fill, the tissue where the band is swells up and once the swelling goes down, then we can take in more. The problem with this is that for a week and a half, I'm practically eating nothing and drinking a lot! And when I finally do get food down, I gain a few pounds back because my body is starved for food. Anyway, once your body adjusts to the amount you are able to consume, then you will start to lose again because it is a lot less than what I used to consume. I hope that was helpful. Let me know how it goes. You are doing great!:w00t:
