  1. I'm 6 days post op! I'm finally banded! I feel great and am trying to figure out portion size with the mushies. I'm hungry but don't want to push it so I'm eating very little food. I know I should try to eat until I feel full but I'm affraid I won't know when that is. I go to the Dr. Friday so I'm looking forward to some answers from him.

    sweet spot

I'm to understand that it's the adjustment spot that is tight enough to feel restriction and loose weight, but not so tight that you feel unable to eat. That spot is different for everyone so it's somewhat of a challenge to get it right the first couple of fills.
  3. Thank you for posting! I'm so glad that you feel it was worth it! So many people think I'm crazy but I know that I'm doing for the lifetime change and not just the quick fix diet! Congrats BillOh on your weight loss and your fantastic year!
  4. I newbie! How are you feeling? Keep in touch. Our bands were the same day so it will be fun to check each others progress. I hope to see another 20 pounds or so by the end of Feburary but I might be dreaming! :-)

    December Delights 2009

I'm feeling the same as most of you. Sounds like all of these issues are normal. I had some Yogurt this morning and it went down fine. Also had some mashed potatos last night with no trouble. Very small bites and very small portions. I don't feel full but I don't want to over do it either. I wonder what it feels like to be full and if you will know before it's too late? I don't want to have trouble with PB'ing!

    I popped a stitch!

Ouch! No, I have not heard of that but I will be extra careful! Hope you are felling better soon!
  7. Hang in there! I was banded on the 3rd and I think the gas pain is the worst! Keep walking. I'm going to try to make laps inside today (it's snowing outside). I think this is like the early stages of pregnancy. Misery! But in the end it's worth it and when you look back on it, it won't seem so bad. At least that's what I hope! :-)
  8. I'm not sure how to join the group. I'm already in the roll call. I'm being banded on Thursday!

Has anyone tried muscle milk light? I bought some at costco but I have not tried it yet. My Dr. sells an unflavored brand that you can mix with crystal light so I'm going to buy some of it. The brand is Unjury??
  10. Thanks to everyone who has posted so far. It's great to see I'm not the only one doing this with a BMI of 34.5. It sounds like everyone so far is happy they did it!
  11. Thanks Surfergirl! I'm glad you are happy with your band. I'm just having some last minute jitters and it doesnt help that the few people I have told act like I'm totally crazy and they don't think I weigh enough. I'm sure I'm doing the right thing and I appricate you insight!

I'm so glad to hear all of you saying the things that I'm thinking! Not much longer to wait!
  13. I get my surgery on December 3rd. When is yours?
  14. homewith2

    Alcohol?

My dr. said I could have it a few days after surgery but that I need to watch the empty calories. We are all doing this to loose weight so I'm not going to go overboard, but I do plan to have a glass of wine every week or so.
  15. I agree! I've told the people close to me that I'm having the surgery. If I'm going to be sucessful, I can't be affraid to tell people that I'm going through this. I also get some negitive feedback because most people think I don't "qualify" for the band. I'm 70 pounds overweight and I have tried everything else under the sun. Why wait until I'm 100 pounds over weight to do it. Many people have said that just because I can afford it, it's the easy way out. It's not easy, but I'm ready to be in control for life, not just the amount of time it takes to loose it! Best of luck to all of you!

    December 2009 Bandsters

Had my pre-op visit yesterday and the only tests they did were urine and blood. I'm excited but getting really anxious. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in getting the band and I think the first few months will be alot like being pregnant. Sucks while you are in it but looking back it wasn't that bad and SO worth it! SW - 197 CW - 189 GW - 135

After reading much of this thread, I'm a little lost. I have only had 1 appt. with the Dr.'s office and I know nothing about gas strips, sippy cups, toddler plates, or anything! Please help! I have a pre-op appt on Monday so I hope they go over some of this stuff with me? I started my pre-op diet today. I'm just following the adkins diet. No protien shakes for me yet! I want to wait as long as possible for that gross stuff!

Hi Lyn! I'm also on the low end of the BMI with 35. It will be intresting to follow each other. My surgery is on the 3rd and it's 26 days before my birthday as well. I'm self pay and haved moved through the system very fast! I went to a seminar on November 4th and had a consult on November 9th. They scheduled the surgery for December 3rd. I still have a pre-op appointment for 11/23.

I'm a stay at home mom and I won't get any time off! :w00t: My husband is taking the day of surgery off and I hope my mom will come to town to help with the kids for a day or 2. This is my biggest worry but my Dr. said that I can do it!
