oops should have said 3cc by default. Did you have any restriction$

    First Fills

OK silly question - it's ALWAYS 2cc by default?? NP said "floating" whatever that means - just thought I would discuss with doc on the 9th. How much was your first fill?

    First Fills

Bob, Did you have any fill with surgery? That I'm not sure of myself, NP says could be anywhere from 0-4cc is what I had with surgery??? Will be interesting to see what they do on Wednesday.

    First Fills

I had my surgery May 5 as well and will get my first fill on Wednesday June 9th.
  5. I actually didn't cheat on the pre-op and have followed the four weeks post op to a tee. "Cheating" got me to where I was for many years................ This is just so much bigger than a "taste of this" or "it's only one day". I lived though years of that and the fact of the matter is I'm glad that a lot of that emotional anguish of "do I diet today or not" is a thing of the past. Stay within the guidelines - didn't you make a "contract" with yourself about the rest of your life when you started this process. Honor the contract and yourself. I'm so grateful for this "band" - it has defined guidelines to follow. That I can do! But remember - everything in life worth having is really worth working for. Good luck to all........... Pre-op Apr 19 - 276 Surgery May 5 - 258 4-Weeks Post-Op - 244
  6. I must say, you group are wonderful, funny, motivating, knowledgeable, extremely enthusiastic and it's tough to keep up with you coming in mid stride. But I'm trying..... Anne - Good luck with you surgery tomorrow, I don't think anyone could be as well prepared as you. Hope the next couple of days are as smooth as they can be. Fingers crossed. Returned last night from a lovely weekend away and started the "soft food" stage. Everything went great. Followed the guideline and no problems. First fill is in 2 weeks - a little apprehensive about "how much". Talked to the NP and she really couldn't tell if what, or anything is in the band now. I'll wait the 2 weeks and see how things go. My Loss *Please Read*

What a wonderful post. I too lost my mother though not a 48 but a 61 very unexpectedly. The courage and strength you have in posting this less than 3 weeks later is remarkable. Your mother raised a tremendously strong young woman and she would be so proud. My heart is with you each and every moment. Stay strong, live well and embrace the memories of your mom for a lifetime. It really is those hugs we miss. ((((((Katie))))))
  8. Hey Leigha, Well here it is 2:30am MT and I'm reading your post. I too am a non sleeper when I'm stressed. Have a cup of tea and relax. I have to work in the morning too. I start solid soft foods tomorrow (today) and am a little nervous about it. Silly, I know, but again fear of the unknown. Hope the tea helps. Katie

    I Did and You Can

Amy, You really are inspiring and look wonderful. And you're right, this "tool" we have will work if we want it to, but it's a partnership. You'll get as much out of it as you're willing to put in. K.
  10. Hello Jill,

I would love to be your buddy through this journey, must have been an older post you were looking at. I was banded May 5th and everything couldn't have gone better. Really nice to meet a fellow Cdn as well. I'm in Calgary. Good luck with you surgery on the 28th. The waiting is really the hardest part. Feel free to PM or email me. Would love to get to know you. If you have any concern although in my short experience, the sight has been great for overall support, motivation, information but a one on one is really good too.

  11. NSV ALERT: I can run 3 min. without stopping. More than once! Its not running a 5K but its a start. When I started this 14 days ago, I could barely run for 60 seconds. We have a 5k "turkey trot" on Thanksgiving day, I am thinking about winning it. __________________ Congratulations Leigha - I remember when I took my "Learn to Run" clinic, and how scared I was (had never ran even a few steps in my life) But yes, where you have to run 3 minutes without stopping by week 3. The ultimate goal was a 5k run and it was one of the best things I ever did. I was so proud. So good luck to you, you'll love it and it will become addictive. Well I had my very first NSV today. I haven't worn my wedding and anniversary rings in well, well over a year. And I just couldn't bring myself to have them resized. And today they fit. I was thrilled!! Might even get a manicure to celebrate. Hope everyones week started well, and Bobbie how was day 1 on the new job. I'm so excited for you!!!! Katie
  12. ____________________________ You already got approval to go to the gym. My doc says one month. I'm getting antsy, but cetainly don't want to jeopardize anything so I continue to walk and will wait the month.

    4th of July Challenge!

I was down a huge 9lbs. Remember this is my first "official" weigh-in since surgery, but I'll take it. Start "soft food" mid week so we'll see what changes that brings!! Banded May 5/10

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

I agree with Sydney, it really was inconsiderate of her. Just remember, it only gets better from here. I'm 11 days post-op today and this is the first day I can say I feel great. Energy level back, haven't had any pain in almost a week. Just have to remember to rest as much as possible so you can heal!!
  15. Hi Ron, Welcome. And hello to all. Thought I should tell you a little about myself. I'm 48, married to a wonderful guy (will be celebrating our 25th) in September. We don't have kids, but a great "rescue" dog. I''ve struggled with weight most of my adult life, and even managed to lose almost 100lbs when I was 41, through sheer determination, hot yoga, and running. Did pretty well for about 3 years then injured my knee (had knee scoped in 2007), never really "recovered" well and that with my mom suddenly passing away, managed to gain most of it back. I contemplated Lap Band for about a year and then finally in March decided to just go for it. Can't believe it's done and I'm on my way to a healthier me. It's really encouraging to read about where everyone is in their journey and for the first time in a long time I feel incredibly optimistic. Haven't been in that place in a long while. I'm 11 days post-op today and felt great (the "tired") seemed to disappear overnight. Went for a long walk outside today since we finally have some spring weather here in Calgary. Hard to believe that less than 2 weeks ago when I had to fly to Vancouver for surgery we thought my flight was going to be cancelled for a heavy snowfall. Yes, spring in Canada!!!!! I'm starting to explore the BB.......... my hubby just rolled his eyes. Sounds like a great tool. Similar to the Polar Heart rate monitor I used when I was running. Wonder what it would be like to wear in a Hot Yoga class. You REALLY sweat in that 90 minutes. Have a great weekend everyone. Katie

    Looking for May Bandsters

Congratulations - my thoughts exactly. Sleep well! Katie
  18. Thanks Bobbie, and congratulations on your new job.
  19. Hello all - I think I need some advice or insight please. I had surgery last Wednesday May 5th. Flew to Vancouver the day before, surgery 8:30 Wednesday and returned home on an 11:30 flight Thursday. Everything went great, and it was much "easier" than I though it would be. Returned to work Monday and have worked approx 6 hours/day this week. I own a printing company with approx 75 employees so I'm fairly busy. Problem is, I feel like "the wind has been knocked out of my sails". I guess I thought that since I feel so well as far as the surgery that I would be a little more lively. I'm used to being fairly active so just wondering if this is what everyone else has experienced? Keeping well hydrated, and I don't think it could be the calorie count either. I had no problem with my 16-day pre-op 3 Protein shake/day and continued to exercise, yoga, etc during that period. Transitioned to "mushie" or "pureed" stage today and really have had no hunger yet. Managing to get all my protein with the soy Protein powder and today added cottage cheese, and pea Soup to my menu. Also, have continued with my Vitamins, trace minerals that I have taken for years. Other than tremendous lethargic feeling I'm pretty healthy. Now, above all I'm realistic, I know no strenuous anything yet, but boy, to be able to stay up til 9pm would be great!! Any comments would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks, Katie
  20. Does anyone have a problem with shrimp? That and halibut are 2 of my staple Proteins. Don't eat beef, pork and only rarely chicken. Katie
  21. Hey Cathy, Glad you're doing well. I found that even a few days made a difference in the pain level. I agree, much easier than I anticipated. I went back to work on Monday, just a little tired. Take care. Katie
  22. Well things are going pretty good, and not overly hungry yet, but I'm sure that will come. Travel to Vancouver visa plane is a 1.25 hour flight. No I pay for all of the flights. So it should be really interesting. I agree that "we read too much". Let me know how your fill goes. It really puzzles me how they decide how much to put in. I was also told that you can experience band "tightening" from flights, and I will be filled within hours of landing, I don't really know what to expect. I started the "mushie" phase today so am having split pea Soup for dinner, and had blended cottage cheese w/applesauce for lunch. What are you eating? Are or were you a little apprehensive about transitioning to "soft" food? It is so different to go from all out eating to not even thinking about it. My clothes are definitely feeling looser this week. Katie
  23. Hey Margaret, Weill it's been 1 week post surgery, and I'm feeling pretty good other than being a little (lot) tired. How are you doing. When are you scheduled for yuor first fill or have you already had it? Mine is scheduled for June 9 and I must admit I'm already a little apprehensive from most of the posts I've read. It sounds like a very "inexact" science. I have to fly to Vancouver to have the fill and return same afternoon, so don't really have the luxury of going back in a few days or week to have it adjusted if there are any problems.. Let me know how you're doing. Katie
