    Calgary Banders?

I live in Calgary - was banded in Vancouver and have been back to Vancouver for a fill and back to Dr. Mitchell in Calgary for an unfill. If you would to talk further feel free to pm me.

    quinoa

It's really great cold as well - with the edamame, a little grated apple and a light soy vinagarette - even using your leftovers from the day before. k.
  4. Congratulations.......cheers for you!!!!!!!!

    Lump in throat

I'm curious to the responses, I had my second fill approx 8 weeks ago to 5.5cc and am feeling the same thing. I have no problem drinking in volume or eating "most" band friendly foods, also eating small bites and chewing well. Just have this constant "lump" or need to swallow.

Met My Goal of Losing 100lbs

Congratulations, you're another inspiration to all of us who are on that road. It's really great to hear of the positive results. Katie
  8. Good luck with your surgery on Monday Bandalley. Very interesting about Dr. Mitchell doing fills. I might give his office a call and check it out. Let us know how surgery went. Katie
  9. Hi Tiger Lily, I'm curious to know what you find out. I'm in Calgary, had surgery in Vancouver and go there for fills. Good luck.
  10. I've flown within hours after having a fill with no problems at all. Good luck. Katie
  11. Relax, and stay positive. The post-op pain for me more than bearable and vomiting non-existent. I tried not to get pre-occupied with it mentally. Good Luck!! Katie
  12. Congratulations and welcome. The forums are great for support and information. I'm a 48 year old female and was banded May 5th. It's been a pretty interesting process, ups and downs, but overall very effective. Good luck to you. Keep in touch. Katie:thumbup:
  13. You look amazing. What an inspiration!! Congratulations.

How soon did you play Golf?

It's really the rotation and torque that comes into play. I waited the 4 weeks to play 18 holes, (usually walk but did take a cart) still a little sore but more than doable. Swinging the driver was easier than bunker play.
  15. Love it!!!!! You can probably market those.......... Katie

    Exercise Goals #3

90 min Hot Yoga Class Saturday and Sunday. A great workout!!
  17. I agree with you. I have a really good feeling that you're up for this. Keep me posted. The first few days of the pre-op WILL be difficult and for me by day 4-5 the "really hungry" part seemed to ease off. My pre-op was 2 shakes, 1 bar and up to 2 cups steamed veggies at night. And after a week of only water you know what to expect. Again, I wish you every success. Katie

    Breakfast ideas?

One great idea I got from another post many weeks ago was 1/2c canned pumpkin (not pie filling but pure pumpkin) 1c almond milk, 1 scoop vanilla Protein powder, a dash of pumpkin pie spice , 1 tsp sugar free caramel davinci syrup. I blend all together the night before and it "sets" in the fridge and can eat with a spoon. Delish!! Nutritional value - 28 grams protein, 3 grams fat, 13 grams carbs - 210 calories. Keeps me satisfied for easily 5 hours. Another thing I'll try is 1/2c yogurt or fat free cottage with 1 scoop unflavored soy protein mixed in. Also very satisfying. 20gms protein in soy powder and additional protein in cottage cheese but not so much in yogurt. I have a hard time finding the greek hi protein yogurt that everyone seems to love. You could even mix in a 1/8th or 1/4 cup of Kashi Go Lean Cereal for a bit more protein but additional carbs. These are usually quick and convenient for leaving the house by 6:30 am, and are options for something other than just having a shake everyday. I like to mix things up. Good luck!!
  19. Tally23 Thank you - it really just puts in perspective how I feel and now 10 weeks post op and down close to 46lbs down, I'm realistic about the commitment and prepared to meet it head on. We CAN all do this, if we want it bad enough. I have the feeling you do. I wish you every success. Katie

    First Fills

This is probably the only part of the whole process so far that has made me a little apprehensive. How do they decide. There appears to be no set protocol - everyone is based on a "one off" and that dr's particular procedure. I have to fly to Vancouver BC about 1 hour flight, get fill, return home couple of hours later and hope to hell their "best guess" was good enough. I guess because I'm very analytical and deal with facts and figures this process seems a little archaic to say the least. Thanks for the input!
