Sounds like your doing great! I would definately not feel bad about needing further restriction - like you said thats why you got the band in the first place. Keep up the good work!

Hello there thinatheart (love that name). I'm sorry to hear about your cancer and hope all is going well with your treatments. I am not yet banded (have a band date of 4/26). Well I was given my surgery date and it is - drum roll please - April 26th. I have had a difficult month with a tragic death in my family and today my first easter without my mom who passed the end of September. I am trying to take each day as it comes. So many things in my life are so good, yet its hard to overlook the really crappy things, and I mean really crappy things that happened in the last year. I makes me wonder whats next. I am, on the other hand, positive with my outlook on my upcoming surgery. My husband is less than thrilled, he's just worried about me making it through surgery because the woman he was with before me died on the operating table. I am waiting to have the thought that I don't need the surgery and can do it on my own, but that hasn't hit me yet. Perhaps I have actually accepted the fact that I could use the help of the band. Please cross your fingers for me. Thanks.

You really should consider a wound care doctor. My dad had an incision that wouldn't heal and got the same bs from his doctor. He then went to a wound care specialist and it healed in no time. If your in Long Island I can give you that doctors name if you like. Good luck and hope you heal well soon.

I started using myfitnesspal last week and it's awesome. I can also use it from my IPhone. Try it, you'll like it, and its free.

It sounds like you had a bad experience. I am using the same Doctor for my lap band surgery. It was suggested to me that I choose from 2 nutritionists who deal strictly with lap band candidates. I was told it would cost 250 but I could choose one that took my insurance up front. I did go to the one that was suggested by the office and she spent an hour with me and said I would be able to see her free of charge for the next 3 months. I then submitted her charge to my insurance company for reimbursement. I have to admit that their office staff leaves something to be desired, but I think that's a prerequisite for any Doctors office. I had to discuss my weight loss efforts for the last 5 years and also document them. I have liked Dr. G the several times I met with him and really didn't notice he was below average height. Sorry you had a bad experience and wish you luck with the next Doc you choose .

Yes, thanks for sharing. It didn't even dawn on me that I will not be dieting once banded. Embracing moderation? Hmmmmmm. That's a novel concept. I guess thats how regular people do it. LOL

Good luck and congrats in advance. Along with you I find all the answers to my questions by reading and reading all the posts on this site. You are amazing to have lost 95 lbs before the band, and will be so successful after you are banded in losing the rest of your weight. You are an inspiration.
