I am a medical transcriptionist too! I've been with my hospital forEVER, so I had tons of sick time built up. My doctor said I couldn't go back to work until after my postop check, which they scheduled for 15 days after surgery. As I was leaving the hospital, he said he would see me in a week; I told him, they had me scheduled for two weeks from then, he said oh okay. I didn't want them to change it - I wanted the time off. And since my postop check is on a Wednesday, I went ahead and planned on taking that whole week. Having this time that to recuperate without worrying about a paycheck is WONDERFUL. I've stayed busy with household stuff. Actually I wonder if I drove too soon and did too much the first weekend; other than pure postop pain, I suddenly got more sore a week out.
