First visited Strax mid-October and met with Dr. Choi, at the time I weighed 222...he told me I needed to lose 22 lbs. before he could perform the surgery. I went on a liquid diet + 1 meal a day (lean protein and salad), then found out the financing company that approved me, filed for bankruptcy so my financing fell through. Then Strax, said they had a new lender that was coming on board, and could help me out in a couple of week. Being pessimestic, I went off the diet and thought the surgery would not happen. Low and behold, exactly 2 weeks later, I got a call from Strax and they said they got the financing approved. I went back, saw Dr. Choi and unfortunately the weight I had lost, I had put back on and at 218...Dr. Choi told me to lose 18 lbs in 2 weeks and then he would do the surgery. I met with the nutritionist and he put me on all liquid diet + 1 meal a day...in 1 week I got down to 210...saw Dr. Choi, he said if I didn't loose the 10 lbs in 4 days the surgery would need to be post-poned. Met with nutritionist again, he put me on pure liquid (no solid food) and I walked or rode my bike daily 7 miles a day...3 days later, I was only down another 3 lbs. Met with Dr. Choi, since and although my weight wasn't at 200, my BMI was down enough so he did the surgery the next day. I had my lap-band surgery on Thursday 11/12 and today is Monday, 11/16. I seem to be doing fine other than the horrific left shoulder pain - although it comes and goes. I am HUNGRY all the time and can't stop craving food or wanting to eat, although I know it's crucial that you only drink liquids during the first 2 weeks after surgery. I can't wait till I have my first blended meal! Is it normal to be so hungry all the time? I thought after the surgery my hunger would go away...maybe it will eventually. Thanks for letting me share my story and I look forward to hearing about your journey as I go through mine.
