To Weigh or Not to Weigh?

I weigh once a week on Friday because that was the day of my surgery. You need to chart your progres, good or bad.
  5. I just passed my 3 month bandiversary and have fell into a rut. I'm bored with protein shakes and am craving things that I know I shouldn't have or things that will get stuck or worse. Is this normal feelings after the newness of the bnd wears off?
  6. My three month anniversary was on Saturday and I'm down 57 lbs. It's amazing! Since my second fill, I've been having some problems but I'm working through them. I know this kinda a weight loss isn't going to continue but I'm very thankful for such a great start!!!!
  7. I am 2 months post op and have been doing really well. I have lost 44 lbs. This week however, I seem to be sabatoging myself by eating when I am not really hungry and eating all the wrong things. I need to figure this out before I totally ruin all my sucess. Why do we do this to ourselves?

    Weighing Yourself?

I weigh every Friday morning first thing. My surgery was on a Friday so that is my day. I don't weigh anywhere else other than the drs office. I find that this way I don't get frustrated with different weights.
  9. Hi guys, I am six weeks post-op and 37 lbs. lighter. I don't know how I made it through the holidays wnd still managed to lose weight but, thank the lord I did. My will power has been sliding but I know that its a life style change and not a diet.
  10. It took me about 14 days, once I started mushies. Your body is trying to recover from surgery and to add on top of that your reduction of calories. I thought the exact same thing but it does end.
  11. I'm almost 4 weeks post-op and my nutritionist said 6 ozs/1/2 cup plus two snacks. From what I have read, you can adjust it to your individual needs. If you needs more your weight loss just slows down but it is a life style change and you need to be comfortable with the amounts in order for it to work.
  12. I had surgery on 11/13. As of today my blood pressure is at normal range which it hasn't been in 16 years and I have lost a total of 29 lbs. including 10 lbs. from 10 day pre-op liquids. I had some problems in the begining and questioned whether I had made a mistake but just hearing my blood pressure number made it all worth it.
  13. My dr has me scheduled for 4 weeks post-op. I think that it is a good idea because you don't have to be in bandsters hell for very long.

    Eating

I was also banded on 11/13 and just started soft foods. I have added eggs, salmon and some more veggies. Kinda kept with the mushies just not a pureed. My nutritionist said to add new foods slowly and keep track of what works and what doesn't. Her biggest thing is at least 60 grams of protein throughout the day. Even though I can keep eating when I'm "done" I have to remind myself that I had surgery to make a life style change and that I need to make better choices.
  15. Have you tried jogging around to break it loose? I have had things get stuck but not that bad. Good luck...

    Question

I've been wondering the same thing myself.
  17. Two weeks post-op and just starting soft foods. I still have some pain where my port is. I'm still am lacking energy but it is getting better. I go for my first dr. appt. on 12/1. So far the only thing that I have had a problem with is chicken. It has gotten stuck twice so now I just add some juice or a little gravy to help it go down.

    Typical weight loss

I was banded on 11/13/09. I lost 10 pre-op and 12 post-op so far. I've noticed that since I started on the mushie stage I've come to a stop. I figure my body is readjusting from liguids.
  20. I'm 11 days post-op and have absolutely no energy! I used to drink 1 or 2 cups of coffee and maybe an iced tea throughout the day but was told to not drink any caffinated drinks post-op. Is it the lack of caffine or the lack of food that is causing this? I'm in the mushie stage.
  21. I also haven't told many people, immediate family and two best friends. I also don't want to be judged. My daughter says that people that truly care about me will be glad that I am improving my health. I still feel that it is private. Still unsure of the what to say in the future.
  22. To those of you out there that have had there band for awhile, do you ever get use to feeling the port? Especially when I move around in bed. I afraid that I am going to dislodge it.
  23. I received a packet from my dr's office from the Lapband company that has all kinds of helpful info and thats where you get it. You fill out your info and send it in and they register you with your infor and put it on a credit card type of card.

    Starving!

I was also banded on the 13th and my instructions were to progress as your system can tolerate. I'm on day 8 and just starting pureed foods as per my nutritionist. Even with protein shakes I am hungry within an hour of "eating".
  25. Four days post surgery and I keep getting the jitters. Any ideas?
