About Me

I have been lurking around the board for a few years now. I had Lapband in 2003 at 235lbs i lost 75lbs with the band but started to have severe reflux. It scared me so i had the fluid removed. I gained about 20lbs and decided to go back and get another adjustment but the reflux was so bad i couldnt sleep at night for fear of aspirating. Went back had fluid removed and have since gained all the weight back. I am currently 240.

Fast forward to 2007 had a beautiful baby boy and gestational diabetes. I have been having blood sugar problems since. In 2010 i started having severe hip pain that would switch side to side. Endured it for a month before going to the ER and having it checked. (i did see my dr but she couldnt find any problems.) In the ER they did a CT and found that my gallbladder was full of stones and oh, yeah! your lapband is broken. The tubing that went from the band to the port had broken and was basically moving side to side. Which caused seriously the worst pain of my life. I thought i was dying. I immediately contacted my surgeon and scheduled surgery for the lapband and gallbladder removal.

I should have been brave and done the sleeve then. I was afraid after everything with the band to go through something again at the time. The band has been a horrible experience and totally humiliating to go through a WLS to end up fat again. So i am in desperate hope of 'curing' my type II and hopefully being able to have a few more babies. I just couldnt let myself have another baby being this weight, it was rough being so large and i would have even worse blood sugar issues.

So im rambling now but that about puts me where i am now. I am scheduled for VSG with Dr Thomas Lavin September 6, 2011 and I cant wait to live my life again!
