    "trial liquid diet"

My nutrionist suggested that I try the two week pre op diet prior to when I will need to do this for surgery. I just finished the two week diet. The first two days were hard after that not too bad. I lost 22 lbs in two weeks which is crazy. The down side is when I attended my month PCP appointment and she saw the weight lose she started questioning whether or not I need to have surgery if I could loose weight so easily. Since I need her sign off and approval for this surgary it has me worried now and regreting that I did the trial diet. Anybody have a PCP deny writting a letter for approval?

    2 fills.....no restriction?????

Have a question. I'm not banded yet but hope to be in May. Why does the doctor put so little in to begin with. Wouldn't it be better to put more ccs in and take out until you are at the right place. Am I missing something?
  6. It was suggested by my nutrutionist to try a week or more of the liquid protein diet before I'm required to start the 14 day pre op for real. I decided this was a good idea because I wanted to make sure I could do it. Today is day 3 and I can honestly say I wanted to eat my foot yesterday. I'm so hungry. I was warned repeated that I was not to stray from the diet so I'm doing my best. I feel awful! tired, fuzzy brained and little energy. However, I'm going to see it through the two weeks. It's important to me to have an understanding of what I'm in for. :w00t: Did anyone else do this? Is anyone else SUPER hungry? It's been two days and I've lost 6 pounds. I'm sure this will get easier as a move forward, right ??? I have three more months of my insurance required diet and then I'll have to do this for surgery. Maybe I'm crazy.. Well, wish me luck. PS. I actually spent three minutes sniffing a hotdog yesterday (and I don't like them). Isn't that gross? It smelled wonderful. The dog thought it was great.

    Richmond support groups

I'd love to join a lap band support group in Richmond if anyone knows of a good one. It would be nice to talk over my journey with someone besides my family. They're tolerance is limited.

    July 2009 Bandster in Richmond

I was reading through your posts since I leave in Richmond and am using Dr. Shroder for my surgery (hopefully in May 2010) if all goes well. I found the waiting room wait horrible but whenever I have insurance questions his staff does return the calls quickly. Do any of you know if he does single incision surgery? I would also love to hear about everyone elses experience with this practice.
  9. Is it two years or five years of medical history and do they just want to see what your weight was during those doctor's visits. I have to go around to five or six doctors to cover 5 years and if it is just for the past two years that would be easier. I only went to the doctor when I had to and then only to Patient First. I'm nervous this is not going to be been enough. How many weigh ins do they want to see. I've been obese for a long time but still fairly healthy. Doctors are not my thing. Your insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Pre-op Eating

Hello. I'm just starting the process and had my initial visit with Dr Schroeder. I would love to hear feedback and thoughts of the practice. The office was so slammed when I was there I felt a little herded. Anyone have this same experience? Is there group devoted to those that are getting the Band in Richmond? I would love to have some local support. My support network is practically nell.
  11. I set up my appointment to start my six months of required doctor supervised weight lose. I have CIGNA PPO and this is a requirement. What I am confused about is what diet I need to be on. My doctor told me to pick one but is that acceptable by CIGNA or does it have to be an official plan. What I would like to do iincrease my exercise, cut down on my snacking and eat healther. Can someone please shed some light on this. When I ask my surgeon he pointed me to my PCP and I don't want to get through these 6 months, lose 10% and not qualify.
  12. I had my initial consultation yesterday. They weighed me, quick reviewed my submitted diet history. Reviewed my health record. The surgeon asked me for any questions that I may have. He gave me a number to contact a nutritionist to set up the nutritional review. He told me to contact my PCP so I could start the 6 months of monitored diet visits required my by insurance. (Which I've done) I was told not to miss any of these appointments or I would have to start all over again. My PCP said I could pick a diet. The surgeon never told me how much he wanted me to learn before the operation but the insurance expert in his office stated that I need to lose 10%.
