I am 13 months post op, I have lost about 40 pounds. Everything was great with band until 5 months ago. Severe reflux and vomiting had to wait 3 weeks to see my Dr. I was not happy it took so long. Had UGI, showing relux had band unfilled for 6 weeks. Had follow up UGI reflux gone and I was feeling better except for the weight gain. I was told by the Dr that about 30% of lap band patients bodies can not work with the lap band and that my problem of being too tight leading to reflux will continue. She gave me 2cc's and said most likely she would not put any more to keep the bad from being too tight and slipping:( I was dissappointed but decided 2cc's are bettee than 0. Now two weeks later out of no where I am having abdominal pain not associated with my port. I feel full and really bloated in the evenings. When I move or take a deep breath I hurt sort of on my left side barely below my rib cage. Maybe it's just gas but I don't know. Does anyone have any insight for me? I have had set back after set back and am at my wits end.:blushing:

Band Getting Removed on 11/30
SuSuGirl replied to teachermommy832's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am experiencing the same thing. I am also from Houston and my surgeon was Dr. Robert Davis. I have lost 58 pounds since February. I am experiencing my second episode with vomiting and severe acid reflux. I have not slept in three days because of the reflux. I can not even keep waterdown. I am going to the Dr on Monday, but I have had to wait three weeks for this appointment. I am not a happy patient. I tried to go to another Dr, but they are all weird about insurance and I can not afford to pay $200 cash. It is only Thursday, I don't know if I can wait until Monday. I may go to the emergency room. I am doubting my decision to have lap band and am considering removal. -
I had my band in February 2009. So far I have lost 50 pounds! Every time I have had a fill, there is either more or less saline than the Dr. thought from the time before. I was working quite well after my 3rd fill of 5CC's. Then out of no where I started to have bad heartburn and to spit up everything I put in my mouth including water. The Dr did an unfill, but found 6cc's in my band. (?) I was fine for 6 weeks now all of the sudden I have terrible heartburn again and about two thirds of what I put in my mouth comes up or becomes uncomfortable. I am up most of the night with the heartburn. I also have no sensation of being full. It might be me, maybe I am not chewing well or eating to big of bites. I am really upset and I fell that if I have to live this way the rest of my life I made a mistake.

Thanks for the advise. I would have never thought of seeing a new Dr but this does seem like a good idea. I don't feel mine really listens to me. He is a wonderful surgeon, just busy I guess.
