I made my decision a year ago to have the lapband surgery my insurance required a 6 month diet plan, I guess that was to see if I was serious, but anyway I did what was supposed to be done. After attending the free seminar at Norton's Hospital in Louisville KY I was sure I wanted to do this. I made my appointment with the bariatric team and just couldn't wait to have the surgery done. Everyone of the team members are wonderful, i still call them with questions and they are most helpful.
I choose Dr. Kehdy, as my doctor after talking with patients that have had the surgery, he is with many doctors so i had quite a few to choose from. After my first meeting with him I was sure I had the right doctor for me. The day of the surgery they made me feel so comfortable, i was not looked at as a fat person trying yet again to lose weight. The hosptial team was wonderful, I was taken into surgery and Dr. Kehdy told me I would be fine, his quite smile always reassures me. when I woke up in recovery i could tell the band was there it was tight i hurt a little but was not in bad pain. I went home the next day after the swallow test (which was the worst thing ever!!!) I was on liquid diet for 2 weeks, and immediatly starting feeling great. My legs used to swell up everyday, and after 3 days the swelling stopped. To this day my swelling is gone. Yeah!!!I go back to the docter on the 17th hopefully for another fill, I am starting to get hungry again.
