    Port protuding

My huband has had a bump from day 1. We call it his baseball. Mine however, even the Dr has a hard time finding. I think it depends on the person, where the port is and how you lose weight.
  5. I haven't gone through this (just got banded in May), but I do have a friend who had her band emptied and gained a significant amount of weight. She had no restriction and had no idea she'd done it. Since then, she's had her band replaced and refilled (slowly) and the weight is coming off all over again. Just hang in there and take it one day at a time. You can do this!

    Couch to 5K ?

Cool! Maybe I'll start (again) tomorrow too. I've started it in the past. I gave up a little over a week ago, after a dr apt that didn't go too well. I haven't really had motivation to do any kind of excersize....

    Finally! I'm down a size!!

Congrats!!!!!! I'm down about 30 lbs and am not down a size yet :cursing: It's ok though My jeans are getting loose...the size smaller is still too small, but my old stretched out jeans (the ones that I was wearing when they were a bit snug) are now loose enough for me to pull them off without unbuttoning LOL Keep up the good work!!!!

    Finally broke the 240 mark

Congrats!!! You definitely deserve to be proud and treat yourself!!!!
  9. Welcome to my world! I think it's part of banster hell...before you reach restriction. I have 4cc's in a 10cc band and was able to eat a whole grilled chicken salad from Arthur Treachers today (just balsamic vinegar, no oil)...and I probably could have kept eating. I'm sorry I don't have any words of wisdom, but you're not alone. Hang in there!! I hear it takes 3-4 fills before reaching decent restriction.
  10. Thank you everyone!!! Believe it or not, I feel a lot better now. At the dr's office I asked if I could make an apt. in 3 weeks instead of 6 - if I change my eating and it's not helping. The dr was clear that I can NOT see her till 6 weeks, but I can come in and talk to the Nurtitionist in 3 if I want. I wrote down everything I ate Sunday and Monday, and like I always do on a very restricted diet...ended up binging yesterday (tried to eat smart foods, but couldn't resist some bad ones). Turn out that after binging, I lost 2 lbs! It's so confusing! All I can think is that my body needed that to realize I'm not starving it. I also stopped excersizing after my Dr. apointment. I will get back into it, but right now I don't have the umph to do it. My sister has weight watchers online, i was considering doing it for a while. One of the main reasons I too got the band is so that I can be "normal" and pretty much eat what everyone else is eating, just less of it...this counting every calorie is killing me.
  11. Ok, so I thought one of the benefits of being banded is that you don't have to "diet" just make better food choice and work out and the "tool" will help. I have 4cc's in a 10cc band and had an apointment last week. It's been 6 weeks since my last apointment, I've been walking/jogging at least 3 times a week (doing the C25k and taking my dogs out for more walks) and drinking 2-3 liters of Water a day...and I actually went up a pound! They wouldn't do a fill because they don't think it's how much I'm eating, it's what I'm eating. So they ask what I eat and I give them a worst day example and got a lecture about how bad it is. Apparently a whole wheat wrap (100 cals, 13 carbs, 11 protein) with less than a serving of Peanut Butter and less than a quarter cup of Kashi go lean is a bad choice. IF I don't bring lunch with me, I either get broiled/grilled chichen fingers or egg/ham/lowfat cheese whole wheat wrap, again, not good. For dinner we usually have chicken or fish - made without any kind of oil - surprisingly they were ok with this. They want me to eat between 900 and 1000 calories - so now they want me to count all my calories and increase my working out to 4-5 times a week. I'm upset, I feel like I'm on a diet - which then makes me want to eat EVERYTHING. Any advice? Thoughts? Encouraging words?

    Had my first fill today!

Hi! I had my surgery on May 13 and my first fill last wednesday (July 7). After my fill I actually felt like i had LESS restriction than before! I called my Dr's office and gave them a run down of what I ate and how I felt. They got me in today for my second fill. Initially they said there was a little Fluid in my band from surgery, but not much. Last week they put in 3cc's. This week I'm up to 4cc's. I really hope I get some restriction from it! I'm down about 25lbs from presurgery. My husband is down 70 (20 before surgery, 50 since) and has yet to have a fill. I think it just depends on the person.

How to deal with not so positive people...

if you don't want to tell your aunt, dont! If you do want to tell people, but want to stop anyting negative before she starts with it you can try telling them something along the lines of what I told my mom (3 days before surgery lol). Basically I said "I am having lapband surgery and while I appreciate everyones concerns and thoughts, if they aren't going to be supportive of MY decision, then I don't want to hear it. It was my decision to make, I made it on my own, and it wasn't made lightly and it isn't the easy way out as some people think. I don't mind questions because I know you don't know a lot about it, but please don't try to talk me out of it, it wont work and like I said, it was MY decision. I need positive and support and if you can't do that, that's fine, but I don't want to hear it" It went surprisingly well. I had to be firm in the way I told her and of course there were a million questions but I'm 2 weeks post op and she's been nothing but supportive (my sister too...and her initial reaction was "you're crazy"). Good luck!!

    Please help

My husband had that issue with peeing for a lil bit after surgery. It went away within a week. What you're feeling sounds like your port. I get the same thing and had a hard time describing the feeling...but that definately describes it. And I know mine is my port.
  15. Congrats! I was reading the scared thread for a while, so I'm soooo glad to see that it's working out now
