haha...we had a destination wedding and I spent about a year addicted to one of those forums (it was hard to break it and I miss my friends, but it had to be done). look though and pull him over to show some "before" and "after pictures. Especially of men  It'll help him get excited about the changes coming. Good luck!!
  3. I had surgery the same day as you and I'm going back to work tomorrow morning. Apparetly, I was supposed to go back today but didn't realize it...oops. If I had realized it, I would have called out. My Dr. doesn't want you going back to work until after your post op appt. But I don't have unlimited sick days and as it is I'm using holiday float and vacation days. I also have a desk job. If you are going back just take it very slow and listen to your body! Do not pick anything up off the floor or lift anything! Good luck!

Hi! Welcome and welcome to your husband!!! My husband was actually banded on May 6 (I was banded May 13). He had to do a liquid diet before and I did not. I know it's slightly different because I was also being banded, but encouragement and noticing all of his accomplishments helped a LOT. My husband had to do a 2 week Medifast liquid diet that I am astonished he stuck to! I just kept giving him the credit he deserved (and calling him a skinny bastard as he droped lb after lb) lol You'd be surprised how much noticing the little things (like saying "no" to a piece of cake with coffee) can add up. My husband is also on the forum. I got him interested in it by me first telling him "I read this..." and "did you know..." and then I showed him the site. He followed for a little and then signed up. If he's interested in another guy going through it let me know and I'll give you his screan name...I'm 30 and my husbands 35 so we're around your age too. Best of luck to both of you!!!!!

    Gallbladder shenanigans

I was supposed to have my gallbladder out the same day I got banded (abdominal ultrasound showed a large stone). I could have told them to leave it, but the dr pretty much guaranteeded that when I lost weight, I'd be in pain...so I said "do it all at once"...apparently, it turns out that my gallbladder was so bad they postponed my band!!! I had my gallbladder out April 22 and my band done March 13...I do not recommend 2 abdominal surgeries in three weeks!!!!!
  6. You mentioned the vitamins making you sick. That happens to me with regular adult vitimins but not childrens. Our dr actually has patients take two flinstone complete vitimins a day. I've had no problems with them and have taken them on an empty stomach. You might want to give them a try if your regular vitimins are making you sick!
  7. I've had this uncomfortable bloaty feeling since last night. All I can think is that I over did it with the soup my husband made (even though I didn't feel that way until about a half hour after I finished drinking/eating). got up this AM and had a big mug of decaf chi tea with a little skim milk and splenda and I just now had a jellow snack. I think I'm going to make another cup of tea (at least it's getting my liquids in and actually helps the bloating feeling).
  8. Hi everyone! I was banded on Thursday, May 13  I'm down about 7lbs. I think I'm doing well so far. I'm trying to stick to the diet the dr gave us (my husband was banded the week before me) but as the days pass it's getting harder and harder. We can have clear broths, Jello, pudding, yogurt (all sugar free) and our Protein shakes (1-2) per day. Yesterday I added a teaspoon of smooth peanutbutter to my Protein shake and had that for dinner. That helped fill me up. My husband just made an egg drop Soup that he got the recipe for on here. I had two full cups of it and am comfortable. Peanutbutter and eggs arent on my diet for another week and a half. I'm worried that by eating them I might cause a problems...but then I see how varied other dr's diets are and think it's not that big of a deal (it's not like I'm eating steak - which I'd LOVE right now...mostly for the texture!). Ideas? Advice? I've also had some sharp pains where I'm pretty sure my port is. I know the port it stitched in place, so I can only assume I'm pulling at a stitch when I move a particular way?

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

I was told I don't have to do the liquid diet because I don't have a fatty liver...

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

Hi all :scared2: I guess I'm a May 2010 Bandster I was supposed to be banded on April 22, but as it turned out, they couldn't do both my gallbladder and lapband at the same time...so they did the gallbladder, sewed me up and sent me home with an apointment it just over two weeks to come back  May 10 My husband is going to be banded on May 6  He started his liquid diet on the 22nd and is showing more will power than I ever thought he had! I don't have to do a liquid diet, since I don't have a fatty liver, so these past few days of me having to eat and him not being able to have been hard on me (I feel bad to eat around him even though he says he doesn't mind). I'm a bit worried that it'll be harder for me to recover from the band because I'll still be sore from the gallbladder, but I feel like I've come too far and put too much into it to turn back.
  11. Hi! I was supposed to have my gallbladder taken out at the same time...unfortunately, my gallbladder was inflamed, infected, scar tissue, completely obstructed and my gallstone was so big they have no idea how I didn't feel it... Long story short, they only removed my gallbladder and I have to go back in two weeks to have the band done. I wasn't completely shocked when they told me because my dr's warned me that this was a possibility. Good luck!!!!
  12. Hello everyone! My name is Dez. I'm 30, about 300lbs and live in a burough of NYC with my husband and two dogs. About a year ago my husband and I started on this journey...we did the six months of dr visits and then spent six more months fighting with the insurance company...we finally got approved (me as in-patient, him as out patient) and I went in for surgery on April 22. As part of my surgery they were going to remove my gallbladder. I knew that there was a chance they wouldn't be able to do both the gallbladder and lap-band at the same time, but I thought the chance was slim...turns out, my gallbladder was really bad and they only did that surgery. My husbands surgery is scheduled for May 6th and my next surgery (for the lap-band) is on May 10th. I've been poking around on the forum for a while, so I just wanted to introduce myself and get a little more involved. Has anyone else had this happen with their gallbladder? Is the second surgery worse than the first? (I am going to go search, but figured I'd ask anyway.) Nice to meet you all!
