    Stuck...UGHHH

Oh, yeah? Does he have a lap band as well? So many of the people who work at the office in Austin have also been through the procedure.
  2. I was scared to and then eventually got over it. However, when I got my first fill, I was scared again and spent more time on liquids than I had to just out of fear of getting stuck.

They've been wonderful, jmunks. How about your experience?

I've never been stuck either but the thought of it is very scary. I'm certain with more fills it will become inevitable, but someone said on a thread the other day that pineapple juice works wonders. Keeping that in mind!

    A port question

Mine still hurts if I bang it against the grocery cart or the kitchen counter or something. My PA says that's normal though.
  6. Everyone is different so it's hard to tell. Some people lose a lot, some lose a little. Some have complications, some don't. I will be at my two-months mark next week and have lost 33 pounds since my surgery but have been fortunate enough to have had no complications.
  7. You go, girl. You have a fascinating story and I'm so glad you decided to go for it and have the surgery.

    Not feeling 'Full'

I am very careful about what I eat and how I eat it, but I eat until I'm full. I just had my first fill last week and have had no problems with food sticking yet, even though I've had a couple of accidental big bites. The first fill helped, but I'm not satiated by 1/2 a cup of food yet, so I might eat a full cup and hope it lasts. If it doesn't, I will snack on something. I do go hungry at times, but not to the point where I'm miserable, and I don't think that's expected.
  9. I agree. You don't deserve to be treated that way and it's absolutely ridiculous that you couldn't get a fill when you're hungry every two hours. At the very least, document how you were treated and make an official complaint about it. That b**** needs to be fired. On a positive note, way to go on your weight loss and willpower.

    Full Liquid Diet!

Cream of mushroom soup is delicious, as is cream of celery (and I don't even like celery). :blushing:
  11. I'm 7 weeks out and have had a horrible problem with dizziness the past week or so, after having had none since surgery. Has anyone else had this problem and figured out what was causing it? So far I've ruled out low blood pressure and an inner ear infection.

    Extreme Nausea

How low is too low when you talk about carbs and calories? Have you found that the nausea contributes to low calorie intake?

    Extreme Nausea

Thank you so much. If anything, it would have to be the hydration. I had to give up my beloved Dr. Pepper when I got the band so have been drinking a ton of coffee, which I'm sure doesn't help. Gonna keep drinking water and see if that does it.

Ooooh baby it hurts so good!

I am SO with you, Lovin. I had my first fill this past week and it's amazing how little I can get full on. Actually, just thinking of food makes me ill and I don't want to eat. Crazy to go from always thinking about what I can eat to thinking about more important things (like, okay, I'm gonna go exercise....no, I'll do it later...no, I need to do it now....ok, I'll go later).
  15. Thank you so much for sharing. It was inspiring. :rolleyes2:

    hit a wall

Well said, Christie. Plus, don't set any huge weight-loss expectations for yourself until you've had time to adjust to the band and figured out how to work it to your advantage.
  17. Thanks and nice to meet you! I had to do two weeks of clear liquids, which was awful, then one week of full and one week of mushies. When I got to mushies, I started doing Atkins, a diet with which I am VERY familiar and have had much success. I ate eggs, sausage, beef, etc. I tried to stick with that until my first fill this past week but I got really sick of it, plus I plateaued (sp?), so I switched to low calorie. My fill was only .4 cc's, but it was enough to give me more restriction and get my weight loss going again. I walk on the treadmill 3 or 4 times a week but mainly have just been swimming every day.
  18. The only time I've truly been hungry was during the 2 weeks of post-surgery, liquids-only diet. Until my first fill, I just did Atkins, pretty much protein only, and ate until I was full, while still chewing plenty and eating slowly. There were a couple of times where I felt like I overate and was uncomfortable, but I'm certain I haven't stretched or hurt anything because my first fill was only .4 cc and it has given me some good restriction. Hope this helps!
  19. I got my first fill two days ago and, after losing no weight for over two weeks, I've already lost two pounds. I wonder if switching to liquids for a day or two helps when you hit a plateau, even if you haven't been filled?
  20. I looked at the 1-cup thing as just a guide for how you should eat once you have restriction. I ate like I was supposed to, just ate as much as I needed to to get full but staying at 1200 calories or less per day. When I went for my first fill, the nurse said that was okay and that I should AIM for 1/2 cup of food per meal, 3 meals per day, etc. If it isn't enough to keep me full, then I know I will eventually need another fill.
  21. My kids are teenagers but my mother came and stayed with me for three days anyway. It was very nice not having to worry about anything except healing. The pain meds will make you sleep a lot, so as long as you're on those, the extra help will be nice.
  22. I trimmed a bit and shaved my legs, not because my doctor was hot (which he is!), but because it made me feel more comfortable. However, you could go in looking like Sasquatch and they probably wouldn't care. I'm sure they've seen it all.
  23. Congrats! Seems all of us know exactly how you feel. I'm looking forward to do the day when, confronted with any chair, regardless of how narrow, I won't have to worry about being able to sit comfortably in it. I hope to never have aches in the sides of my legs again!
