I decided to get lap band a couple of years ago when I was around 260lbs.  However, at the time, my insurance wouldn't pay for any of it.  I was not financially able to go forward so I had to put it off.  Finally, in 2007, my insurance started paying for the band.  I decided to start my process but half-way through, I lost my nerve.  Then, at the beginning of 2009 I decided I couldn't put it off any longer - I wanted to live and be healthy.  I found out that I had met my catastrophic deductible for the year and that sealed my fate.  My insurance paid 100%.  I am 8 days post op and I have lost 14lbs.  165lbs, here I come!!!
