  1. Hello afosterchild, I hope these words will bring you some encouragement. Almost 6 months ago I started my long journey on becoming banded. There were so many things I had to do before my insurance company would approve me for the band. The longest part was my six month diet. I really hated that more than anything in the world, because I just wanted to get banded and start my new life. However; things were not that easy. Therefore, I had to find positive things to focus on while I waited for the different stages to happen. Thank, God I can now say that my time will not be long before am banded. The very last thing I have scheduled is my sleep study. My insurance company does not require this, but my doctor does. My sleep study is scheduled on May 15th, and I will be scheduled for a date to be banded. I really never thought this time was going to come, but it is really here for me. I took the six months to read up on as many things relating to the band. I have already started changing a lot of eating habits that are not good. I really think am really mentally and physically prepared to be banded. I promise you the time will fly be before you realize it. I do wish you all the success you want and hope for. Good luck!!
  2. Hello Kata,

Congrats on your 71pounds total weight lost since being band. If you don't mind me asking, what was your begining weight before your were band. Your weight lost in a little more than 5 months is wonderful. Am so excited about getting my band put in as soon as my monitored diet plan is over. I am prayin the 1st of June I will be approved.

  3. Hello Tracy,

I am doing well but am still awaiting to complete the six month monitored diet by my doc. My next appointment is tomorrow which will make 3 completed sessions. I am praying to be approved around the 1st of June. I still have a little time left, but am already making a lot of changes on my own. Thank God I am still losing weight slowly on my own. I really think it is more inches than anything. I can really tell the difference in my clothes. I made myself a promise that I was not going to purchase any more clothes until my old ones were too big to wear. I will keep you posted on my lap band status.

How is everything going with you? Is your weight lost going the way you hope it to be? I pray everything is going well with you.

  4. Welcome Tracysscott,

I really don't have any personal input about your weight lost solution. However, I wanted to welcome you to the site. I am still awaiting my approval to be banded. I have read a lot of different experiences from other band members, and they have remarked about stepping up their game with food choices and putting the time in to work out. Another thing I have read was having your water throughout the day was another biggy. I hope you find the solution(s) you are looking for. Good luck.

    Psych consult

Sparta I read the reply from Spartan who made a personal attack on all the opinions who opposed the Psych Evaluation. Maybe I have the wrong ideas or opinion about the individual post made by the Band members, because I did not know there was a Band Police who was standing at the door dictating what individuals were allowed to feel and say on this site. First of all who died and made you God! Absolutely, no one did and therefore you don’t have the right to critic everyone’s remarks. What authority do you have to point out to anyone what they are entitled to feel concerning their personal choices? I do not respect any single thing you had to say concerning your reasons to have a psych eval. I really do believe that you have some DEEP, DEEP ROOTED EMOTIONAL ISSUES THAT DEFININATELY REQUIRE ON- GOING THEREAPY! You continued to make comments that included other banded individuals. That is very small minded because no one can speak on the behalf of every single person. All of my remarks were about my personal feelings because that is the only true opinion I can share. Spartan: You joined this site on 1-7-10 and you are trying to do what? Why have you joined this site? Is it to only criticize others and to be an argumentative person! This is a support site and if you don’t like the way another person feels about their own personal opinions tough. “Get a life”. I truly feel so sorry for you. Maybe you don’t have any friends and I definitely can see why not. Your personal cheerleaders that encouraged you: way to go you told them. How childish is that we all should be adults on this site who should respect the opinions of others even if you do not agree. Come on maybe this site is not for you. Maybe you were not taught: if you do not have something nice or encouraging to say just shut your mouth up!!!!!!! Every single thing you have said on this site should be taken with a grain of salt. POOR YOU! I reviewed your post and you’re a very, very negative (individual). I see why you advocate so much for therapy. My heart really goes out to you. What you need is prayer and much of it. My appointment was today and I spent 20 mins completing paper work and a total of 15 in the office. (Joke)! It was a waste of time away from my job and money. My MONEY! Continue to curl up on the couch because you really need it. Happy banding. I love this site and all the wonderful people who is apart of it and maybe you need to find so where else to vent. You are in my prayers! You are a JOKE!!!!!!! SAD.

    Psych consult

I feel the same way all of you ladies do about my psych appointment scheduled for tomorrow. It really is a waste of my time and money. Why in the world do someone need to tell me what my thoughts or feelings need to be concerning my over weight condition. I know that am over weight and that is why am doing something about it. In my own personal opinion, it is just a money thing. I really hate to feel that way but ladies I do. I refused to do my sleep study because it is not required by my insurance company so absolutely not! Am willing to do only those things that I have to do and nothing more. My doctor states it would help my chances of being approved. When they see my BMI and other weight related conditons that alone will be all the help I need to be approved. Once I complete the six month monitored diet, they will have to approve me no matter what. That is another thing that is truly a waste of my money and time.

Band not even around my stomach?...!??!!

OMG. My heart goes out to you in is situation. It makes me really pray for God to be with me in my upcoming band procedure. We want to have faith in our docs and believe that they will do their very must for us. It was be very upsetting for me that you made several attempts to voice your concerns about something not being right with your band. They continued to tell you that every single thing was (okay.) That alone would make me know that these people really have no idea about what they are doing in this field. Thank God nothing life threating occured to you during this period. It is just a blessing the other doctor was open and honest about what he saw. I would get me a very good lawyer and make them compensate you for all the things your have gone through. I Pray you find another good doc to fix your band so you can start to enjoy the real band life. I am so excited that I will be getting my band in a couple of months. Honey, my heart goes out to you and my prayers are with you. Stay in good faith.
  10. Hello AprilShowers,

I just wanted to check in to see how you were doing so far. How much weight have you lost so far? I hope everything is going well with you and keep me posted on your lost. Hopefully, you are not having any difficulty since your surgery. Stay encouraged.

  11. Things are going well for me outside of my sinus problems. This south ga weather is so crazy which creates issues with my sinus. Outside of that, am trying my best to follow the program and do the things required by my insurance. I have an appointment on 2/10 for my psy review. That is the very last thing I really have to do. Once all that information has been turned in to my Dr's office it will be sent to my insurance company. From that point it takes 7-9 business days to get a response back. If am not approved the only thing I would need to complete will be the monitored diet by my primary doctor. My next appointment with him is on 2/22. That will be 2 months down and 4 months to go. Have you started your liquid diet yet? Keep me posted. (part 2 of 1)

  12. Hello Chaval,

That is wonderful news to hear. You just don't know how excited I am for you to get an approval date. Oh, I just know things are going to work out just fine with you. On the date of your surgery, you will be in my prayers and thoughts. Are you a little nervous? :scared2:I really don't know what would be going on in my head right about now. Just stay focused and know the BEST is yet to come for you. (LOL)! (part 1 of 2)

  13. I am so excited to hear your total weight lost. Girl that is Great! I am so excited that one day really soon I will be at that baby stage and then walking/running. I know everything in life is a process, and I do have to wait my turn to finish all the requirements from my husband's insurance. Very soon my banding date will be set and how wonderful that day will be. Good luck and continue to stay focused and encouraged. Are you going to add some pics to show your progress? I can't wait to see them.(smile)!

  14. I am praying that God will provide you with the mental and emotional strenght needed for your surgery. You are going to do well with your new band because this is something your heart is already fixed on. Stay focused and know that you are in my prayers. Please keep me updated on your progress. (smile)!

    Almost There

Stay encouraged and have faith that God will take care of you from the begining to the very end. You will be in my prayers.
  16. Thanks so much for your encouragement to know things will get better. I have had this problem for a very long time and just knowing something will be done about it gives me alot of comfort. I have given up any type of spicy food(s) all together due to my hernia. It would be a treat to eat something and not to fear the after affect. I really can't wait until am approved (banded) for a lot of different reasons.

Again, thanks. How long have you been banded and your total weight lost?

    It's always Good to Know!

I was talking with my doctor about some of the problems I was experiencing with my acid reflux condition. He wanted to do an EDG to see if I actually had a high hernia. My test was friday morning at 6am and it was a lot worst than he actually thought. My condtions had gotten to the point that every single thing would cause an acid reflux reactioin. Sometimes drinking water could cause intense burning in my throat. My God sometimes I thought it was a condtion only in my head. Surely, I thought simple things I would eat could not cause that much discomfort but it did. My doctor is really cool and he stayed after my procedure to read the results that friday morning so I wouldn't have to wait over into next week to know the results. My doctor stated my hernia was not the worst he's ever seen, but it was worse than most. I really feel better knowing that I truly have a condtion that can be fixed at the time am banded. :bored: My primary doctor was very supportive that I was working toward getting the band implanted. He was willing to assist me in any way needed to ensure my insurance would approve me being banded. He stated it was only a game the insurance company required, and we would both just have to stay on top of the insurance requirements so I would not be denied. However, my doctor did not advocate me taking any diet pills. He felt that would be unnecessary for me to take them, but he wanted me to continue to watch what I was eating and to work out as much as possible. My last requirement per my insurance company is the psy visit on 2-10-10. My paper work will be submitted once all the documentation has been completed from my other appointments. I pray by some miracle from God the insurance company would go ahead and approved me without the six month monitored diet by my doctor. That would be really cool if they approved it right off w/out the diet. I really trying to lose some weight becasue my liver has to shrink down in order to be banded per my doctor. I feel really excited:biggrin:

  19. Thanks so much for the encouragement. My Dr. said the same things to me this morning during my visit. I just want to see a different side of life. My health is fairly good at this point, but I do know things can quickly change if I don't make changes for my life and family. I want to feel good about myself inside and out. At this point, am not too excited about the things I seen in thte mirror, but one day really soon there will be a difference.

You look really great and happier as well. Stay focused anad encouraged.

  20. Hello Chaval,

I was happy you wanted to be a friend. (smile)! I had an appointment this morning with my Dr. and he encouraged me to be patient. The six months will fly by before I know it. He also wanted me to start using behavior as if the band was already in place. One of the biggest things was no water while eating and smaller portions. It's funny becasue as a child my mother did not allow us to drink while eating. She did it to encourage us to eat all of our food. Therefore, I have never really had anything to drink while I ate. So, little things like that will help the process go a lot faster in the long run.

I pray everthing goes well with your insurance. Hopefully the wait will not be that much longer for you. Soon enough we both will be enjoying the band life. Good luck and may God bless you every single step of the way.

    Everything is Down hill

I've started all my appointments with the different things required by my insurance. I still have a problem with the six months supervised diet by my doctor. I really feel that is just a waste of my time. If I could lose the weight and maintain it on my own, I would not need the lap-band® done. I have researched the lap-band® since feb 09. I am very aware of a lot of different things that I have to do to lose the weight. However, I feel like am giving myself the gift of life. It's like a second chance to make right of all the bad food choices I've made in my past. My BMI was 40 so that alone makes me an excellent candidate for the band. I reallydon't have any type of major health issues outside of my high herenia and joints (knee). Yes, it's all weight related. Thank God, I was told by the Doctor my herenia could be fixed when my procedure is done. That was music to my burning throat/chest! I know my life is only going to improve in so many healthy ways. I can not wait to start losing this weight and keeping it off for good. I do know the band is only a tool and (baby) I intend to work that tool to it's fullest! Am positive and I know God is going to work everything out in my favor. Everything from this point is down hill. As long as all of my appointmens are kept, I should not have any problems being approved my the insurance company! "It won't be long now"!:wink2:
  22. Hello Chaval,

    Welcome to the Lap-Band site,

I read that you were in the waiting phase to see if your insurance would approve you. Did you have to go through a six month supervised diet or that was that not required from your insurance company? I am going through all the testing/appointments at this time. I was told up front that I have to do a 6 month diet. Even if my insurance deny me at first, after the 6mon diet is done they have to approve me. I pray to be one of the few whose approved without the 6mons diet.

Stay encouraged and focused. Good luck!

  23. Thanks so much for your encouraging words. You look amazin and hard work really pays off. I will try not to allow the waiting period to over whelm me too much. I want to learn as much as possible so I can get the full benefits from my band. Things are moving right along and the time will be here before I know it. Again, keep up the hard work. I am praying for God to prepare me for the long road ahead of me.
