1. I am so very sorry to hear what you have been going through. I have been locked out of the site for a couple of days. I could not remember my user ID. I pray you are feeling much better since you had some of your fluid removed. Are you still losing weight ? When you get some time let me know how things are going with you.

  2. How are you? Thanks for adding me as a friend.

  3. I was banded on July 21, 2011 and my BMI was 39. My starting weight was 325 pounds and at surgery I had lost 315 pounds. I was told by my surgeon I had to lose enough weight to shrink my liver down or my date could be set back. I really got very nervous and I became somewhat angry with myself. I turned that anger into motivation to have something I really wanted more than anything. I started doing a lot of research on the web about food portion and foods that fueled the body. I also learned that my Water intake had a lot to do with my body holding on to the excess pounds. I really started drinking more water because my body retains Fluid really bad. I have had a problem with my lower extremities swelling for several years. I ended up having vein surgery to repair some of the weak and inflated veins in my legs. I am very tall for the average woman (6'1) and several people did not believe I was over 300 plus pounds but I was. Today, I am 55 pounds down and the swelling and excessive pain in my legs has mininized greatly. I continue to suffer from plantar fasciitis, but I do pray that too will continue to get better over time. I said all of that to encourage you to take control of your life. You have to start making slow changes in your diet daily, the portions that you are eating. and most of all do some type of physical activity every day. I too have a membership at the gym, but I workout better at home. I invested in a kettle bell, hand weights, resistance bands, an electric stepper, and several DVD's. By having all of my equipment handy at home it takes out the excuse of not going to the gym. I have my own personal gym right at home. I sometimes workout before going to work, before going to bed, and anything I have a spare moment. My workout times vary from 15-20-30 minutes, and sometimes an hour. I feel like any workout is better than nothing at all. When I am at work, use my potty breaks to do a couple of squats before leaving the bathroom. Always remember, start small and build on the good things you have learned to do. It's called a life style change because diets have never worked for me. I pray GOD will open up a door for you to have your surgery. I know people who have had the bypass and several years later have gained a great deal of their weight back. It all depends on the person and their self well!
  4. Thanks for adding me on as a friiend. Yes, I had to go through the six month diet program in order to meet the requirements of my insurance. I really didn't take the diet very serious, but I lost enough to shrink my liver down before my surgery.

    Wishes I'd never done this....

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through but don't give up on your band. It is a tool that will help you to gain your weight lost goals once you find that right place for you. I too have had two bad experiences with overfills and being too tight, but I had to figure out what works for me. I can't eat certain foods that may be okay for another person. So many people have advised on some good options to follow to correct some of your band issues. Eating smaller bites, chewing very well, not mixing food and drink at the same time. My band sometimes has a mind of its own because it’s tighter at certain times of the day and others food can be tolerated a lot better. I just have to be in tune with the different signals it gives me and I then determine what to eat and how much. I can tell when I have had that one bite too many ,because I have the worst feeling in the world in chest but after 10-20 minutes I can feel it start to move. There is no easy answer to give to you, but listen to you body and take things slow. Every single person with a band is totally different in how their bands work for them. Continue to fight towards your goal because it's a daily process. Have you lost any weight so far?
  6. How are you doing? I pray all is well with you.

    Amy's Story

I pray all goes well with Amy. I know my life has truly changed since I had my surgery. Thank God for my band!

  9. I was the same weight you were when i decided to get the band (325 @ 6'1) I losted around 10lbs before I was actually band and within 6 months I am down 55 pounds. It seems like a slow process, but I thank God I am not the same person. You have done an outstanding job. I too have the walk off the pounds video. I do enjoy it. You work it girl!

    Change does come!
  16. How are you doing? Have you been band yet?

  17. I always weigh myself every morning after I use the bathroom. My weight was 270 which is a total of 55 pounds lost and I have not felt this good physically in over 10 years. I want to lose another 50/75 pounds and I will be at my high school weight. I pray everything works out with you being band.

  18. little but that was not the answer for my problem. Once I was banded the weight came off really fast the first couple of months then I hit a stand still. I was trying to adjust to my fills and learn what did and did not work for me. I had too adjustments due to being too tight. (that was a very bad experience). Now I am at a good place and the weight is really coming off.

  19. November 2009 is when I really knew I wanted to get the lap band -my weight was around give or take 325. My husband's insurance would not cover the procedure until Jan 2010 and that's when my entire process began. I was losing a little weight on my own and I was down to 315. Due to all of the swelling in my lower legs my weight would be up/down and I was on prescription water pills. They helped a

  20. I was also experiencing really bad pain in my heels after sitting for long periods of time and first thing in the morning with my first steps taken. I was told it was plantar fasciitis (OMG) it got worst over time. Thank God I can honestly say my legs and ankles don't swell, I have little to no knee pain, and no more heartburn. I still have the heel pain but not as bad as before.

  21. Changing I had some of the same health issues you do. I did not have sleep apnea, but I had a hernia, knee pain, ankle pain with excessive swelling in my lower extremities. By the end of the day my legs were hurting so bad. My ankles had started to get a darker color due to poor circulation. During the summer I would be too self-conscious to wear dresses or skirts due to my swelling.

  22. right away to have the requested information faxed to that department. I got the review nurse to give me a verbal approval that Friday afternoon and she later faxed the approval to my doctor's office on Monday. I have learned to be my own personal advocate when it came to things I really wanted done right away. Hopefully, you will get an answer real soon from your insurance company.
