About Me

I previously had a LapBand (placed in 2006) and lost 57 pounds in total before I learned how to start "cheating" with it.  I gained back about 30 pounds.  In October 2015 I began having heartburn every day and went in to see my surgeon.  Under fluoroscopy it was discovered that my band had "slipped".  My surgeon unfilled the LapBand and his recommendation was to remove the LapBand and convert to a Gastric Sleeve if I wanted.  This relieved my constant heartburn, but I also was able to eat more, therefore I began to gain weight.   I was under my husband's insurance policy at that time, Blue Cross of Florida, who does not cover any type of bariatric surgery, not even the removal of my LapBand.  I had to switch to Cigna (offered through my work).  In April of 2016 I had the LapBand removed.  Due to the weight gain, I tried several rounds of the "21 Day Fix" with decent results the 1st round I did, but the consecutive rounds, weight loss results were minimal despite following the meal plans and working out 45-60 minutes every day.  I even tried weight loss with supervision of my PCP, who even prescribed me diet pills with minimal success.  This discouraged me so much, I felt depressed and desperate.  In October 2016, I made the decision to have the Gastric Sleeve surgery and my surgery date was March 10, 2017.

So, here I am.  LET THIS JOURNEY TO A HEALTHIER AND HAPPIER ME BEGIN!
