I just got sick of being sick and tired! Finally understanding that indeed my weight is adding if not causing some of the health issues that I have. I have FMS/CFS and often battle with exhaustion, fatigue and pain. I have kept an ear to the bariatric surgical community for years contemplating the procedure. In 2004 I decided to see if I could lose weight on my own and by 2007 I went from 398 to 225 I felt SO much better. A change in my health and an inability to be as active led to regaining the weight. Progressively I felt worse and worse and decided that I needed to take the next step by having Lap-Band surgery as an additional tool to my weight loss plan. My insurance requires a Bariatric Center of Excellence and after some research I found Dr. Andrew Larson. I met with Dr. Larson in late October of 2009 and he agreed banding would be a good procedure for me. On November 9, 2009 I returned to Dr. Larson's to have a meeting with a nutritionist and psychologist for the medicare required consultation. This was a $334 out of pocket expense (not covered by insurance) I consider this an investment in my future. Authorization is being requested and I should know something mid December. I'd like to have surgery this year but with the holidays approaching I am unsure of that will happen.
