Ok I'm 2 weeks out from abdominal reconstruction and having 13 pounds cut from my lower abdomin. Dr Fielding is a G_D. I too have a smiliey face that is about 36 inches long. When he opened me I had no adominal muscles left from all my prior surgeries ie. 2 c sections 5 hernia repairs, hysterectomy and appendextomy. So he put in a piece of mesh the size of a dinner plateto give me back an adominal wall.. The mesh seems to be working better than the band. It's like wearing 3 panty girddles at once and never being able to take them off. If I eat too much I can't breathe. After spending 5 days in ICU and another 5 in regular care I can't even thing about doing my thighs or arms .......I know this to will pass....

NYU.......they are tops in their field.

I was banded on August 7 ,2006. I have lost 45 pounds. I'm older and unable to exercise. I have 6 compressed disks in my back. I'm hoping the hernia repair will help get me moving again......on to the next fifty pounds. Good luck on your surgery. I know you will do just fine. spunky

Anyone being banded August 27? Dr Fielding is doing my ventricle hernia ...it's over 12 inches long. Insurance has given me a run for my money but the finally said yes.

After three tries I'm having my ventricle hernia finally fixed. Dr Fielding is doing the surgery. Anyone getting banded on August 27?

What is your operating date? They can give you an antibiotic and cure strep within 48 hours I think. Or is it your not contagious after 48 hours. DRs at NYU are out of town. Go to even a walk in place and have your throat looked at. They will give you meds if needed.... I was to be operated Monday but my insurance needs to talk to Dr F and he's out of town. This is my second delay. I was banded last August...this is a hernia repair. You will do fine..... Spunky

You want the doctor to be able to feel the port so he can fill it.......then you don't need the floroscope........ I have a hernia that is hitting my port. If insurance co-operates it will be repaired on august 20........I can't wait spunky

Maria I liked Dr Hubertman ( not sure of the spelling) I switched to shopping at night instead of eating. <wink> The online stores never close. The UPS guy is adorable. All kidding aside I have found I'm not nearly as obsessed with eating as in the past. My kids are grown so I'm not making family meals anymore. Eating out isn't bad either. I pick any appetizer that doesn't make me sick. I'm not a drinker so I have my cappicino before dinner. Keeps me from picking on the bread and making me sick. Fresh bread that like will get stuck in the band. Trust me it all sounds over whelming now but you will get into a routine... Nothing tastes as good as THIN looks......

Drinking and eating isn't a problem for me......one sip and everything comes up. I can throw water up at any temperature. I drink Propel and Special K protien water.......When we go out to dinner with friends I have a cappuccino when they are all drinking. Caffine is my drug of choice. It keeps me from wanting bread. Bread is another bad choice. Sometime I chew a garlic knot for taste....but never swallow it......then the night would be over for me.That would get stuck in a NY minute. Spunky

Did you have the pain before banding? Dr Fielding is worldrenown for doing the banding. You are in excellent hands. Did you drink the Water in the office before you left? Does this happen more when drinking cold or Hot drinks? If in doubt call the office.....they are going on vacation soon... spunky

Hi Guys.....I was banded by Dr Fielding. He does the fills without a floroscope. He knows just where the port is and has never had to do a second stick. Gasper the Nurse Practioner was great too. Julie how do I PM you? I'm having a ventricle hernia and pannus surgery done August 20th by Dr Fielding.......how bad is the recovery going to be? The banding was a breeze compared to what is coming next. help!!!!!!! Judy

Will you travel to NYC>...Dr Fielding and Dr Ren take outside patients. The nurse practioner is grea too.They fill me on the first stick. They are in NYU Hospital Medical Center...... good luck Spunky

You will do fine.......you can tell when you are going to PB.....have a cup with a lid. Pretend coughing and face the board..PB and cover. I PB all the time. I just don't make a big deal about it.....You are throwing up food above the band. Keep me posted spunky

I went the insurance route.......the six months gave me time to come to terms with less eating and all the life style changes. Maybe I'm finally maturing....omg did I really say that.......keep me posted on your decission. spunky ps anyone know how to get rid of the botched attempt at a tickler? Help!

Dr Fielding and Dr Ren are the greatest. The six month supervised dieting isn't for them. They realize you have been on every diet in the book. Are you self pay or insurance? The six months is for insurance company......yes it's a pain but part of the game insurances play. One third of the people become self pay, one third does the supervised diet and one third drops out. The insurance company banks on the odds.........Now which THIRD will you be? Don't give up....it's worth the trouble.... spunky

The whole team (staff) is very supportive. They answer all questions and Tami and DR F have had the banding themselves. Just remember the band is a tool .....you still have to do the work....He's so great that his office is doing a study on banding teenager. Help them while their young so they won't get all the health issues that go along with obesity. Lots of luck......you have taken the first step.....you will do GREAT!!Feel free to ask me any questions....

Dr Fielding is wonderful and one of the God's of banding. He did mine AUG7,2006 Danni and Julie's. Julie lost 150 pounds in a year.....I'm on a slower pace but I'm older.......good luck...

I'm having the same problem. However if I drink something the whole thing comes right up. Therefore I have no idea how people cheat by drinking and eating. I get protien from protien drinks, special K Water. I also use a mini chopper to puree tuna or egg salad. However carbs just slide on down ...... I could be called QUEEN of slime. I carry 3oz solo bathroom cups.....they are just great. I'm trying to find out why I'm doing this so often. I will be seeing the doctor next week and he is going to kill me. Why is it carbs slide right down but protien KILLS me........and now I have hit a plateau....pout....but I'm hanging in...... You are unreal.......how did you lose that much weight so fast? Do you eat or are you just on a liquid diet? I have hit a plateau I hope Dr Fielding doesn't kill me when I get back from Florida.
