Wondering about 6 month supervised dieting
tiger liliy posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am just wondering if anyone know about the 6 months of supervised dieting. Does anyone have any input. Can you still be denied after and why? -
wow I have been away for 2 months and I come back thinking the MN section would have fired up guess not. I was away because I gave up I couln't afford to self pay, so I gave up completely. Since then I have been diagnosed with diabetes and confirmed my high blood pressure. My insurance also just sent out a letter stating the will now cover, but not till jan07 so they told me just to get all the paper work together and we will go from there. Jan is only a month and a half away. I can't wait.

I gave up, My insurrance company said they do not cover any kind of weight loss, pills, Gym memberships, or any type of W/L surgery. My husband called and complained, because we have insurrance through the union. He told them I work my butt off for the union and we can't even have good ins. He said fine my wife will just have to rack up a bill for ins to cover with all her health issues. One month later, We got a letter today- Says as of Jan 2007 we now cover Gastric Bypass types of surgery. YES!!!! :) :Banane33: :D :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) So now 6 months of supervised diet and excercise and we are set.

The only reason why I think I will be denied is because I am not that overweight. I think I am but everyone tells me I am horrible to think that I need this surgery. The thing is that I have been trying to loose and I can't do it by myself. I do have diabetes, and mild high blood pressure. I am afraind they are going to say oh your blood pressure is not high enough or the diabetes is not that bad. BMI=36 -

I did talk to them and they are not sure about the lap band. However, All the hard work with the perscribed w/l pills and nutritionist may have payed off. They said as long as the doc. kept great notes on my progress i can use this as 6 mo. supervised. Now I just need to keep it up till Jan 07 and see If I get approved. -
I was just wondering what is a supervised diet. Is meeting with my diabetic nutritionist a monitored diet?

I am really glad for you . I go in on thursday for the seminar. I can't wait to get started.

having gallstones is this a co morbidities?
-
Thank you! I think I won't qualify what kind of Insurance did you have? I have BCBS ccsystems. Through the union. If they require a BMI of 40 there is no way. I guess I will just have to wait. For some reason I think MN will be harder on requirements?
-
:help: Another question?? How long is the process before you actually have the surgery? 2 months 8 months?
-
thats cool!! So do you have any advise?? What is all this I hear about 3 month supervised diets??? Will all the medication I have been taking for dieting count? I can't wait for the first meeting.
-
I am not schedualed for anything yet, but I am going to the first meeting on thursday at unity. I really want to have this surgery, but I don't think I will qualify? I only have a BMI of 35, but I have hypertension and I think gull stones and bad cholesterol. Diabetes runs in my family, and I had gest. diabetes during pregnancy. I have been trying to loose, with no luck. I tried Xenical, and some other perscription diet pill no luck there either.
