  1. So...I'm 30wks with a VERY active baby. An active baby that really seems to dislike my port in her way. Anyone else feeling painful port kicks???? Sometimes my belly pokes out where the port is and I think there's a little foot trying to get it out of her way. Also, I'm measuring at 34 wks and my midwife tends to think that this is because of the port and band taking up abdomen space? Anyone measure far ahead during their pregnancy??
  2. I'm 30wks and still have it. I went in to have some removed from my band but it didn't seem to help. What's so weird is....I've never really vomited anything.... I gag, and lots of flem comes up but never food. I'm wondering if this is because of the band. I always vomited with my previous 2 pregnancies.
  3. Hi...not sure what to tell you.... I've been soooo much hungrier with this pregnancy. However, I did have about 4.5cc removed from my band and I can eat everything! This is my 3rd pregnancy, first with the band and I wake up hungry almost every night. I hope things level out with you!
  4. I've heard of people who are weight loss resistant and often wondered in the past if I was... Well, I'm REALLY starting to believe it! I'm 6 months post-opI have been exercising my butt off for several months now. I eat 2/3 less than before. My weight loss has totally stopped, besides the slight fluctuations, it always goes back. I can't get my weight under the 220 mark and it's driving me crazy. I walk a couple miles 3x a week instead of going to the gym now that it's warm out and I have an ab machine that I do daily. Would gaining muscle really cause you to lose weight for months? Also, a couple weeks was the first time that I got food stuck. They checked my band and found that 2cc disappeared from my band...crazy huh? So they refilled my 9cc band up to 8cc again. I still feel restriction but maybe I need to go back and have more...to the point where I can barely get anything down? I normally lose about 3-4lbs the first week after a fill and lost nothing after my last fill. I'm wondering if this sweet spot even exists...at least for me. Anyone else experiencing no weight loss for extended periods?
  5. Omg....so much information. I admire some of you that excercise as much as you do! I thought I was doing good but in comparison to some of you...WOW...I'm doing nothing. There isn't enough time in the day nor do I have the stamina to up my exercise at this point. I never thought about eating MORE. That just scares me! I feel like I'm eating all the time because the band only holds me for a couple hours. Perhaps I'll try weight watchers again....I'm just afraid that I wont be able to eat as much as the plan calls for. All I know is, this sucks and something's got to give.
  6. To answer your questions... I've always eaten fairly well/healthy, with the exeption of my sweet tooth that has gotten much better since the band.I eat as much fruit and veggies as I can....as I said, I'm eating about 2/3 less. I'm not much of a beef eater...1/2 a burger with no bun occasionally, so we eat a lot of chicken and fish, occasionally lean pork. I'm big into Soups so I love to cook with legumes. Butter is a rare ingredient for me...I always cook with olive, sunflower, coconut and occasionally canola. I'm big on whole grains...I very rarely eat bread but it's whole grain, Pasta, brown rice, oatmeal, flour, etc. I do like to occasionally indulge in a sweet...a cookie, homemade organic granola bars with lots of fruit, small scoop of ice cream and YES, wine. I'm bigtime into healthy and organic eating but I'll go crazy if I can't occasionally partake in a lil wine or dessert. I don't measure...I have no clue what to measure out and journaling....who's gonna see it? As far as excercise...Before the weather got nice, I went to the gym about 3x/week and did a min. of 35 mins. on the elliptical and 20 mins. of walking, as well as some light weights....or 1hr+ of vinyasa (HOT) yoga and that was equivalent to the elliptical. : ) Now, I do a lot of core excercises on my ab machine daily and walk a couple miles of brisk walking about 3 times a week. (weather permitting) It's so frustrating because my friend got the surgery and I got knocked up. I had a beautiful girl, who is now 2 and I have NO regrets but she went from a 20-22 to an 8 in about a yr...no excercise and ate ice cream or reeses pieces for dinner almost daily. My clock is ticking and my husbands is ticking louder....maybe I should got get knocked up, lose some weight during pregnancy (I did both pregnancies), breastfeed and lose some more weight and that will jumpstart my weightloss again. I know, sounds crazy but I'm venting!

    Leaky Port :(

Wow...good info. Glad everything went well, Keith!!! I noticed that about a week after my fills, I would lose restriction. I thought I hit my sweet spot only to lose weight the first week and stop. I told my fill dr. and they took the Fluid from my band to find 2ccs gone. I have a 9cc band and it was supposed to be up to 8. So, they put 2 more in and I finally had my first "stuck" experience (veggie chips and sushi). I go back in a few weeks and they're going to ck it again. I REALLY hope there is no leak but I'm not having great success with weight loss... So, if replacing some stuff will help with losing weight...I'm all for it!!!
  8. Lots of questions.. So, my weightloss sucks! I hav 8cc in a 9cc band and I can still eat everything. Not enough restriction! Anyway, I had my surgery in November and wanting to get pregnant in August or September (I'm not getting any younger)to break my cycle of having winter babies. My dr said he wanted me to wait a year but if I got pregnant before then, not a big deal. Anyone get pregnant during that first year? Also, I get pretty darn sick with my pregnancies and had nausea and vomiting the whole 9 months with my last one. Anyone have these problems with the band and did they unfill you? Will band slippage be an issue?
  9. So, my weight loss has been VERY slow and I've been working my tushy off trying to get rid of this weight. Last fill, I finally felt some restriction and then it went away after about 2wks. Then, I started to gain. The doctor asked if I was getting anything stuck and I told him no and that I want to get to the point where there are certain things that I cannot eat.... I think that helped because he put a whole 2cc in my band....for a total of 8 cc in a 9cc band. I'm a lil nervous because what if this doesn't work and I only have 1 more cc to be full!?!?!?! Anyone else with similar experiences? Words of encouragement appreciated!!! I REALLY want this to work!!!

    Fill Doctors near Cleveland Ohio

What about at the Clinic?? That's where I had my surgery.
  11. My husband and I are leaning towards having another child and although my dr. said that he'd "like" me to wait a year, I would like to start trying in september/October for a summer baby. I'm hoping it will only take one try like the times before but that will leave me at 10-11 months post-op. I'm not concerned about gaining weight because I was sick through my pregnancies and weighed less after having my babies but I was wondering if anyone was unfilled during pregnancy or just kept their fills.
  12. 3wks isn't too bad...I'm going on 2 months of no weight loss! I'm glad I havent gained but I sure haven't lost. I look forward to my next fill and hoping to get on a schedule so that I can actually go to the gym to excercise and not do it at home. I see so many posts of people who haven't been able to lose with a full band...scares the crap out of me!
  13. You all are killing me :w00t: 10lbs a month!?!?!? Omg....I would be in heaven if I had that!!! I haven't lost in over a month....so, so, so frustrating! I cannot wait to go back for fill #3! I'm eating less but I want to eat a lot less. They assured me that I'd be eating 1/4 cup of food....wtf?
  14. Btreiger... My dr. told me that we should graze more and not eat only 3 meals. He told me 3 small meals with Snacks in between. You're quite the "expert" and you haven't even had the surgery yet. Anyway...I feel the OP's frustration because I got banded a week before you and according to the dr's scale, gained after my first fill. Oddly, 3 scales in my house say something different. I'm stuck at around 15lbs and have been here for at least a month....I never could get past 15lbs when I dieted and excercised before. I also have to believe/know that the band is meant to restrict your food intake and make you feel full faster so you eat less. Why have the surgery if the band did little to nothing, Btreiger? Yes, healthy food choices and excercise are a part of this too.
  15. I'm so glad I stayed overnight. I have a toddler and it would have been too much coming home to her, jumping all over me. Also, that pain button was WONDERFUL! Great stuff!!!!!
  16. Call me crazy but I would like to experience this just once. Maybe then I'll know I made the right decision having this surgery. I can eat everything and have yet to get stuck. I've purposely tried to get that full sensation. Perhaps a couple more cc's?
  17. Oh gosh...your post scares the crap out of me. I just had my 2nd fill and have little to no restriction and can eat ANYTHING. According to their scales....I gained but according to my few scales, I lost. Anyway, I have a 9cc band and have a total of 5cc and feel like I could use at least a few more. Did we make the wrong decisions getting this procedure? Can you fill a band to the max and still need more restriction? Uggghhh What is a pouch test?

    Starving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was too just after surgery. Just continue your small liquid diet but drink/eat often. My doctor let me move on solids about 10 days post-op. Good luck.
  19. I went in for my first fill (4cc in 9cc band) and when my surgeon's assistant went to find the port, his reaction was, "woah...it's RIGHT there, huh?" He went on to say that he's never seen ports that close to the skin. I asked the surgeon about the placement of the port for my post-op appt. and he said that he put it down about 3-4 inches. When I told him that it felt like it was just under my skin, his response was, "that's not good...it better not be." So, now that the swelling is down...I can feel it more...in fact I can grab it over my skin. I thought that I heard that it is normally placed under the muscle??? Will it stick out when I lose weight? Where are your ports?
  20. My dr. cleared me for solids and things have gone well....a little too well! I'm limiting my intake but feeling unsatisfied. Honestly, I feel like I can eat as much as I did pre-op. I don't get a fill for another 2wks and I'm afraid I'll put on the 10lbs that I lost so far. Should I go back to liquids?????
  21. I'm fairly new to the site....but can I join your team?

    Banded 11/6/09

  23. I would wait! I have 2 children and I was so stretched out and got so big during my pregnancies. After I had my babies, I had a lot of saggy skin. If your stomach doesn't look too bad, by all means....WAIT!
  24. Omg...that exactly where my pain is! Kidney....huh?
  25. I had my surgery on 11/6 and I have this pain too! I was told it could be a pulled muscle but it can get pretty bad. I was told that I'm probably doing too much but with 2 young kids at home and working part-time as a teacher....I have no choice but continue on with life, as usual! My pain got so bad one time that I was doubled over while trying to shop. What's so strange is...it seems to get worse after I eat....so, how could it be a pulled muscle. The location is also strange...almost on my hip bone.
